I only got into Panic 10 years or so ago. Went to see them at a theater in Minneapolis around 6 years ago-my first and so far only live show. I remember Sonny was wearing a black shirt with the words “home team” on it. There was this celestial glow of white and gold light radiating from him. He radiates love and welcoming and joy in the music. Granted, I was rolling my balls off. But man that was a powerful sight. I couldn’t stop staring at him.
I got to set this band up many many times it was the best experience of my life.still trying to play music.dont ever stop guys.so much love for you guys.playing rt through are crazy adjustment in this world.keep love in your heart and there will be no need for widespread panic.you know what I mean family.phillip
IMO, the night that began the greatest 4 year run of any band I've ever witnessed. You want to listen to a great Panic show? Pick any of them from April '98 to April '02 and there you are. It was pretty darned fantastic for years prior, but the boys took it to another level during this period, just flat-out dialed-in every night, it was incredible. RIP Mikey and Todd, miss you so damn much.
ikr! I stumbled across Panic on youtube just a few years ago (why I love the internet!) and am so sad about the years I missed hearing this amazing music. (have bought several CDs since). Plus pissed that mainstream fm still plays the same ol' same ol'
Man we had a good time back then. America was a better place. I'm bobbing around somewhere down there. I remember when they went into Ain't Life Grand, the bottom the sky fell out with rain, and everyone went NUTS. It was a magical show.
I am so elated to come across this. WSMFP IS MY FAVORITE BAND OF ALL TIME! I'm 68 and just found them 2 yrs ago! I missed so much but am catching up NOW! I'm on chatroom at all audio feeds and saw them 3 times already, GREAT!
I'm glad you enjoy this band and came across this video and enjoyed the video. They stream all their live shows on panicstream.com and you can also listen and download their previous shows . Never too late for anything. Some fans prefer shows before the original guitarist Michael Houser died in 2002 but they still play to this day and they still jam. My first show I went to was in Danville Illinois and I was 20. 2 years later the original drummer had to call it quits due to an illness that killed him in 2020, so I am blessed to be able to have seen him up there on stage as well. Their drummer now is Duane Trucks which comes from a musical family, his uncle was Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks and his older brother is Derek Trucks who is a former member of the Allman Brothers Band and currently performs with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, check them out as well Derek Trucks is a amazing on the guitar. My brother's got me hooked on Widespread panic when I was about 15 years old. My brother's had this on DVD and always showed me it growing up and I always wanted to show my buddies the video now days being I somehow forgot about this whole video over the years and I could not find the show on RUclips or anywhere in general and could never find it for some reason. Then one day I remembered to get and rip the DVD that my brother had, so I could upload and share it with everyone, since it was not on RUclips. The video really does justice for this show. But I could never find the video, so I'm blessed I was able to upload this video and share to everyone that has seen or has never seen it. They might even stream some of their live concerts on RUclips, I'm not sure on that but there is a lot of videos of the band out there. Check them out! I'll try to get time to upload more widespread panic shows for all of you!
Everyone played off Houser's energy and his changes.(yes that's the guy seated and has stage 4 cancer making that guitar his bitch) Panic was truly passionate about their live shows. Still are it's just different....a different landscape. Some of the shows I attended in the 90s especially in Pelham at Oak Mountain (always a 3 night run) you couldn't help but show your own energy whatever that may be. It was all good tho!! "Listen... If it feels good we shake"
My girlfriend at the time, who was from the Bahamas, and I got to Athens for this concert I believe the day before the show. When we arrived to the show it was around 2 or 3, and the crowd was really growing at that point. I loved when JB first came out on stage and said “evening ladies and gents!” The crowd went nuts when he said that. JB is such a kind soul, just a good guy, as is the whole band. There is a certain warmth and love in panic’s music that is truly priceless. I saw so many panic shows in the 90’s, from 93-99, and I know this sounds crazy, but it was like literally a calling to all of their shows, and the first time I ever heard them which was in the fall of 92 on cassette, I was immediately hooked, no question about it. I knew right then I would be a panic fan forever. Sunny, you are the bomb dude!!!!!!
Sexiest voice next to JJ Cale! Hypnotic! Bonafide music since their start! A friend of mine has a signed first album he scored at a gig in Richmond. They didn't wanna give it up, but needed gas to get back to Athens🤩💃🏼❤️🔥
I also love that. I hear it alot because disco/tall boy are 2 of my favorites from this album, and that intro is dope as fuck. I love those few drumbeats that lead into disco, something about it really grabs me.
Many, including myself, missed the boat on Panic. They are a GREAT band !!! So glad I came upon this show, one of the best live shows ever performed, The energy is palpable every song. Hauser on the tricked out Tele w Wah Wah pedal is masterful. Brilliant guitarist. Gone way too soon, RIP MH
I’m a younger panic fan, never got to see Mikey, but thankfully I’ve had the pleasure of growing up on panic because of my dad. He was in the crowd for this show. He got to see Houser some 50+ times and I’ll forever be jealous of the man. Houser is by far the most underrated guitar player of all time, and it’s a shame not more people know about him
Long Live BaseBaLL!! I cannot express how much Gratitude that I have for these fella's, so I simply show it best I can at shows!! Much Love ya'll!! Rest Easy Mikey ❤
I saw this live. I watched nearly the entire show standing on one of those gigantic, "Big Gulp," truck stop refillable mugs. We were in between the stage and the 1st set of PA towers they had blasting back up the hill at the roughly 240K people behind us. For a brief second (and I mean brief) I can be seen standing on my mug, tripping my face off and loving life. What a magical show and an amazing time to be young and living for any moment, all the moments! We miss you Houser. Four short years after this wonderful performance you'd go on to the great big gig in sky.
Watching this video is like finally seeing god for the first time. This CD was played at my house to reveling guests for years....I tell you years....and had no notion there was even a video of this....or perhaps sublimely I did not want to see its creator....but god be damn....this band and its birth of Light Fuse Get Away is truly my gospel to a whole world of groove, peace and the love of all music.
I just turned 30 years old, and my brother's got me into Widespread Motherfucking Panic as a kid. They would always show me this show, and I always thought it was so cool. Now that I'm a wee bit older I would always go to show my friend's on RUclips or any platform of that sort and I'm like fuck it's not on there. And then, one day I remembered to ask to borrow it for that reason, I needed to share it for everyone! It is definitely a gem!
All I knew was my friends said “Panic’s playing a free show in Athens tomorrow.” Next thing I knew we were off down the highway. Man I’d seen em before but had no clue it was gonna be like that.. so many (amazing) people, and such a great show!
Saw them in a school Gym early 90's, Breckenridge Co. Had no clue who they were. Purple veined shrooms was being handed out in the crowd. And here we are...
I remember when jb was playing at my friend abbat bar Elizabeth reeds in macon.we all start from somewhere.dont give up.much love to jb and the band.we thankyou for getting us through this life.love you all.phillip
I get goosebumps watching this. I have the dvd but its been a long while since I watched it. We are smack in the middle front row, I'm to the right of the dude with the white hat on the rail with my "Welcome To The Schoolszone" banner. That's the day I fell in love with Athens, GA. Miss you Mikey & Todd ❤🔥We got there a couple of days before & made it to WA St early in the afternoon. The entire street was blocked and the rail was actually at the very top of the hill. As soon as folks began trickling in, the crew instructed us to pick up the rail and walk down to the stage with it. Wish someone had filmed that, it was fun. I always wanted to get a hold of one of those "Light Fuse Getaway" banners & hang it from my deck. My bf then was going to climb up on one of the poles to get one like others were doing but I asked him not to. Amazing show. Best Day Ever. We were so lucky to have been part of that amazing experience. After Panic we went to see Day By The River. 💖
I am 63 and I have followed them for years, started not long after they got started. I have seen a great number of their shows. Ironically, I was at this particular show as well with one of my good buddies, and we were fortunate enough to be invited to camp out in a guy’s backyard that we met at the show. That same friend and I will be attending 3 shows in Asheville, NC this July.
Love hearing these stories on all of your experiences on this show. I acquired this from my older brother that used to tour with Panic. Glad everyone is enjoying this piece of gold!
Lucky, haha, I would have only been 5 years old. Reply with some of your favorite shows. Also, check the 1991 Georgia Theater show I have of WSMFP on my channel.
Hell man me too! It was an awesome show, back in the college days for me. Loved it. Tipitina’s New Orleans December 1993 was phenomenal. Check out New Orleans Halloween 1997 too.
Our little crew made our way to the 40 watt around noon that day after finding a sweet parking spot underneath a bank drive thru awning the night before. Hadn’t slept a lick or skipped a beat when we started to notice the sheer number of people that seemed to just keep growing. People had started to find showtime real estate at that point with no black top even showing a good 100ft from the stage so we got with it and staked our claim Slightly to the right of stage left if that makes sense. This was at 2 pm by 5 it was all I could do to turn around and look back up Washington to see the largest gathering of People I have ever been a part of still even to this day. I’m Sure I wasn’t the only one that looked down around set break to see a pretty steady stream of “liquids” from the thousands of people behind me spilling beer and heavens knows what else making it’s way even further toward the stage setup. My brother and 2 buddies I was so blessed to experience that with even know the time counts on the video where they repeatedly show us groovin ever so briefly. Our wives and girlfriends are so sick of get together’s from over the past 20 years where the night ends with one of us finding that CD and playing it and talking about that magical moment that night I’ll never forget. It makes me get emotional when I relive it in words like this but at the same time so HAPPY I have to sit on my hands to keep from CLAPPING ..! I’ll be 50 in October but it still feels like it ALL happened last year..! Love to my SPREAD NECKS and SPREAD KIN and I’ll see y’all at the next Show..!
That's awesome man, wish I was able to experience that. I would have been 5 at the time haha. My brother's would show me this growing up and I absolutely loved it, later down the road I got into the jam band scene and never seen this video anywhere on youtube so I had to upload it and share it for all of you freaks.
We are same age. Just turned 50. I went to Alabama. Saw them almost every year from 92-mid-2000’s. They are playing 3 nights in Huntsville this weekend. Haven’t seen them in almost a decade and would love to go. I’ll admit to partying my ass off every panic show i attended.
Such an awesome concert. We came over from Tuscaloosa and were near the front in the beginning then I went on adventure and found the drum circles :) One of the funnest shows I have been to, it felt like 100,000+ easily and everyone was so awesome!
So cool, must have been so much fun. I used to live in Athens, but had moved by the time this show came up, sadly. This show is legendary, downtown Athens, featuring Athens best kept secret, and Houser was still with us. What an amazing setlist and well played. Disco, tall boy, and pilgrims are my personal faves from this.
It was a little over 100,000 which beat out Metallicas CD release party few yrs prior. This crowd was largest ever for a CD release party. I was in the mass of people School side about 100 ft from stage. If you were down in that madness there was an RV parked rite down in it. I was between the RV and the stage. 98 was a very seminal and pivotal yr for the Boys. I think i caught about 35 shows that yr. What a ride!!😁
@@ChrisHelms-xm4fm I actually can relate though, my first panic show was superjam in athens, which I think was 93. Was incredible, but unfortunately the show was cut way short due to crazy thunderstorms.
You're welcome! I could never find this on youtube. My brother's always showed me this as a kid and my one brother had this on his files for years and I knew it was time. Haha glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet this popped up ! Was there I think I was near the 40 Watt / was with a bunch of college friends that came down from Western NC / Had Lots of Fun!
I had a CD that had some of the music from this show - I didn't realize that they had made a documentary. This is peak Panic. A band at its full strength and development - it's fanbase, the Spread heads, primed and ready to go, anywhere.
I was there and it was amazing about ten people were on top of a Volvo station wagon off to the rt of the stage and they crushed the hell out of it.much love to the family.phillip
I only discovered Panic 10 years ago, so I’ve only experienced the Jimmy era. I see Mikey has something, but I don’t get why he’s considered the superior Panic lead player. Jimmy is just on another level
I see my hat in the crowd view when they show everyone up front! haha I will never forget this show. When the rain started to come down during Aint Life Grand. It was surreal.
My two concerts ever are wsp Wilmington 2022 and wsp Charleston 2023. I am saddened by the fact I’ll never get to experience the band in their best state live 😔
I can tell you. I was there in the 90s. A band that's been around for 38 years goes through changes. Jimmy is great! His interpretations are amazing. RIP Mikey and Todd.
I think everyone should just be thankful we still get to go see them. It’s obviously not Mickey anymore but be glad they kept it going and still put everything into it
The boys were firing on all cylinders that night! I've listened to this live album hundreds of times. SO AWESOME!!!

100%. They were the best band touring in those years-period.
Hey thanks for this. Im 62 and never even heard of this band before. I feel more jaded than embarrassed! Right on time

My brother's would show me this growing up and I absolutely loved it, later down the road I got into the jam band scene and never seen this video anywhere on youtube so I had to upload it and share it for all of you freaks.
🚜
@Dose Trump cool af you did this. Heard of it but i had never seen it. I had some brothers somewhere upstream of R Christopher ❤😂🤘🚜
Unfortunately I think I’ve got the VHS somewhere which says a lot! They were so connected to each other…rip Mikey and Todd #auntAva 🥺
Such an awesome concert. We came over from Tuscaloosa and were near the front in the beginning then I went on adventure and found the drum circles :) One of the funnest shows I have been to, it felt like 100,000+ easily and everyone was so awesome!
26 years?!?! Man I'm getting old.
No doubt..I was just thinking 26 hard years lol..love these boys❤
We all are, lol what a time this weekend was, slept in the car in a parking lot, lol
happy 26th folks
I was there! Awesome show!! I swear there must of been over 250,000 people at that show
So cool, must have been so much fun.
@@ChrisHelms-xm4fm crazy to see all those people packed into downtown Athens, so cool.
@@benringenberg2394 it was wild. Hard to believe that was 25 yrs ago. Different time, different people, different age lol
@@ChrisHelms-xm4fm I actually can relate though, my first panic show was superjam in athens, which I think was 93. Was incredible, but unfortunately the show was cut way short due to crazy thunderstorms.
What a great video! Long live WSMFP!
WSMFP!
Never gets old🎉💥💥💥💥💥🪽🥃
Got that right!
Houser was simply not replaceable. This is some of the dopest Panic i have seen.
Cant wait until Red Rocks 2023!!! Been living outside the country for years and havent seen them since 2017 so your boy is an excited little man
rock on!
Best jam band in the 90s and love.them today
Some of the best live music ever created! Thanks for posting! Great memories and glad a version of this still tours!
You're welcome! I could never find this on youtube. My brother's always showed me this as a kid and my one brother had this on his files for years and I knew it was time. Haha glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks a lot for sharing the video! Sheer enjoyment! Love these guys!
No problemo glad you enjoyed it!
😂 Bluemule here. Thanks.
“DONT HURT MY TOWN”
LOL
Ohhhhhh please take me back!! 🔥
Happy 25th PITS
Quit making me feel old.
Sweet this popped up ! Was there I think I was near the 40 Watt / was with a bunch of college friends that came down from Western NC / Had Lots of Fun!
i loved how they changed up porch song around this time frame and played the beginning slow with the most killer sunny ripping it on the congas
The jams out of slow porches were soooo good 98-02!!
Same. When I think of Porch Song, I think of this version.
Quintessential Panic played in an extra gear. The energy that night was other worldly..."Teach me now what I could never learn before"
Best Aunt Avis!
@@leedabrowski835 top notch for sure
I was there. Waaaaaaaay in the back. It was an awesome night!
Lucky!
The good old days. As good as it gets for me.
_the good ole daze!_
I just found this tonight. Stroll in from a Mule show in avl ànd find Panic in the Street. 🧙♂️🏴☠️
Firing on all cylinders that night will always miss seeing Mikey chillin in his chair RIP
I had a CD that had some of the music from this show - I didn't realize that they had made a documentary.
This is peak Panic. A band at its full strength and development - it's fanbase, the Spread heads, primed and ready to go, anywhere.
Thanx dose man I needed this ❤
No problemo! I'll have more WSP and other jam bands uploaded here soon!
Just saw them last night in MS! Epic damn set 🙌🏼
Was my first show in Brandon Sunday
These boys sure can play
Mikey, love tractor, good lord 😮
🔥
Thank you for this video!
No problem glad you enjoyed it
Nothing shy of fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Not a problem glad you liked it!
definitely nothing shy!
i bought boiled peanuts and a basket of georgia peaches at statesboro fair 97 with the space wrangler cassette
I was there and it was amazing about ten people were on top of a Volvo station wagon off to the rt of the stage and they crushed the hell out of it.much love to the family.phillip
Ha thats WILD!
Sweettttttt! My birthday... what an awesome experience this would have been... just a shame I wasn't old enough to do the concert thing...
Was there 🫠🫠, I miss Mikey so much
Just saw them in Brandon Ms and last November in New Orleans ✌️❤️🎶 and I could go on 😂
I was just outta high school in Metro Atl and went to this show. We were smoking a huge Dub in the bushes.
25 years ago. Glorious!! Just so good.
25 years later and WSP still holds up very very well
Thanks Dose❤
No problemo!
Will see the boys in Memphis in a couple weeks!
Who’s here in 2024 - Dawgs have bama this weekend. Needed some good juju. Shoutout JB, Mikey, and the fellas. Go fucking dawgs
I'm the one that looks messed up😂. That was so much fun.❤
I was there, and there was well over 100-200,000 people. After the show they had reported 1/2 million, but who knows.
yes, please.
I only discovered Panic 10 years ago, so I’ve only experienced the Jimmy era. I see Mikey has something, but I don’t get why he’s considered the superior Panic lead player. Jimmy is just on another level
Fucking great show glad we made it
I see my hat in the crowd view when they show everyone up front! haha I will never forget this show. When the rain started to come down during Aint Life Grand. It was surreal.
Forgot about that! 🤘🏽🌧️
I ❤ Porch Song ..twirling
thank you boys
Hands down best Tallboy
My two concerts ever are wsp Wilmington 2022 and wsp Charleston 2023. I am saddened by the fact I’ll never get to experience the band in their best state live 😔
I can tell you. I was there in the 90s. A band that's been around for 38 years goes through changes. Jimmy is great! His interpretations are amazing. RIP Mikey and Todd.
i was at harveys lake this same year 98
so epic never seen the video b4 thx a million
Not a problem glad you enjoyed
I think everyone should just be thankful we still get to go see them. It’s obviously not Mickey anymore but be glad they kept it going and still put everything into it
Thank you Jesus for my beautiful journey with you..WSP..IN THE STREETS 🔥
