    Word! Today we go over the TC Electronic Plethora X5. We'll cover 3 specific items - 1) A brief overview of the pedal. 2) How to setup a new board within the unit. 3) How to set up the hot knobs for the pedal. There is a ton more here that I will go over eventually. I hope you learn a thing or two from this video.

    Very detailed walk through and made easy to understand. The owner's manual is sorely lacking in detail.

    This is the reason i brought my TC Electronic Plethora X5 , the simplicity and flexibility . Love this pedal, sincerely i can't understand why other brands don't take this pedal as an example, instead of making so complicated menus to navigate through , that once one gets familiar with already have become an old pedal

      you hit nail right on the head! I switched from the MX5 to the Plethora for these reasons.

      @@priorwitness Did you find the same thing I have in that the effects are more "real" and not as forced? I have an X3 I bought last weekend, but I'm already thinking about dumping the MX5 for the X5.

    • @priorwitness
      @priorwitness  5 месяцев назад +1

      @user-fg1gb4hb9l some of them yes. I love it still. but sometimes there are effects that you just know you have a sound in mind that only that pedal can do. I'm a chorus snob, for example, lol and I had to buy an EHX Small Clone to get the exact chorus sounds I had wanted. The X5 is bigger but the effects loop is SO useful for incorporating drive pedals exactly where you want in the signal chain, and honestly the value is awesome for what you get in the X5. I have several boards for bass and guitar setups. The compressor and noise gate are great. I don't feel I need separate pedals for those. The Sub N Up has so many uses and sounds great. Tremolo does exactly what it says. I really enjoy the Helix Phaser. it sounds like a Phase 90 with more juice. but yes, at the end of the day the X5 and X3 just have built in pedals that don't have that nasty digital feel. I have a NUX MG30 that sounds good as well, but the Plethora's effects blow that thing out of the water easy. So the MG30 is only used for amp modeling. My plethora does the effects great.

    Just picking one of these up and moving away from the HX Effects. I plan to use this only in the loop. I wish that the three hot knobs could be assigned for each individual effect (like the three knobs on the HX). Your video is the first I've seen to show how the knobs actually work. I'm hoping I made the right move!

    • @priorwitness
      @priorwitness  Год назад +1

      I'm glad I could help! I used to own an HX Effects. I moved on from it for a number of reasons. It's a fantastic unit but I had to learn in time it just wasn't for me. The Plethora is simple yet complex enough to be flexible. The real fun is when you start downloading and messing with toneprints. A lot of cool sounds can be had there after you get bored with the stock stuff that is in the Plethora

  • @pislickkedi
    @pislickkedi 9 месяцев назад

    Thanks for this awesome video. I have a question for you, can I use my Tonex pedal with Plethora ? I wonder if the 4 cable method works with tonex - plethora?

    • @priorwitness
      @priorwitness  9 месяцев назад

      Yes as a matter of fact you can. Guitar and whatever pedals you want going in front of plethora go in the input, then I would recommend throwing the Tonex in the effects loop of the plethora. Run the output of the plethora to the effect return of your amp. Now it depends how you want to use this. If you just want your tonex and plethora taking over your amp then you're done. But if you want more flexibility, then you'll want the send of the plethora going to the input of your amp. Then from the fx send from the amp to the input of the tonex, then from the output of the tonex to the fx return of the plethora. Then you'll have to make sure that one of your blocks turns the fx loop on and off

      that's a good idea actually. short answer is I THINK every effect on there has a MASH option. I know for a fact every delay can be switched from Tap Tempo to MASH to nothing if you want.

      @priorwitness  Год назад +1

      Nope. I've not had that issue. Switching between boards, yes. But how I play is I have a board setup for certain situations and I switch in and out of effects. It's like having five individual pedals in front of you. For me it works great

    • @19581998
      @19581998 Год назад +1

      Thanks for the quick replies. One more QQ: Is it possible to setup the X5 with all five pedals active but still have it set so you can run three in your amp loop and two before the amp? In others words, do you have to use one of the five effect slots only for the FX loop?
      @@priorwitness

    • @priorwitness
      @priorwitness  Год назад +1

      @19581998 no problem! You just caught me at a good time 😀. Yes it is possible to do that. In fact I used to do that with my amp. I would run a couple effects like a univibe and a compressor in the front of the amp and then on the back end, or in the fx loop of the amp I would have three effects running: a noise gate, a chorus and a delay for example.

    How do I run this through my Voco Loco, that I need to plug my Woodwind mic w/phantom power? Thanks

    • @priorwitness
      @priorwitness  Год назад +1

      So you could do this a couple different ways. You could run your voco Loco into the FX Loop of the X5 so that some effects go before the Loco and some come after it. So you would run the send of the X5 to the input of the Loco, and the return of the X5 to the output. The Loco has an FX loop as well. So you could have the X5 in the FX Loop as another option. Run the input of the X5 to the Send of the Loco and then the output of the X5 to the Return of the loco.
