      Dave Marshall Np man, glad to help. I've gauged this bike against many other similar machines and yes, some others may have more character or what not but this 350F is still the best all around motorcycle that I've ever ridden. You can "super tune" it but forget about any big performance gains if that's what you're after although there are a few places to get power. Be sure it has the stock air intake set up...(all of it) ,stock jets and timing spot on. I did a 520 chain conversion and knocked 2 teeth off the rear cog which is a very welcome mod as long as you weigh under 200lbs. If you're handy, get the cylinder head mildly ported / blue-printed because the exhaust ports are apparently intentionally clogged up with severe casting garbage. This took the bike to a new level.
      Good luck and keep us posted!

      I love the way Japanese can miniaturize their trademark 750 4 , the standard starting point for ALL 4 cylinder motorcycles . Yet not to sit on their laurels and make an awesome 350 cc clone of that . All that technology is bursting out on this beautiful Bike !

    • @mtntime1

      I can top that for regret. In the mid 70's I had a '65 Chevy Impala SS Convertible, buckets, console, power windows.
      I drove it in Minnesota winters so it rusted out, banged it up in a couple of places, finally hauled it to the junkyard.
      Did I mention that it was an SS, and a convertible? If I'd took good care of it, it would be worth $50K today, easily.

    The wide high riser bards on these 70s bikes are so much more fun for street riding, it really helps with feeling in control of the bike and it make the bike feel faster than it is which is good for the road because the point is to enjoy it and not get a speeding ticket or lose your license.

    • @mtntime1
      @mtntime1 5 лет назад +1

      Absolutely. these little fours are not torquers, they love to rev. That's where they make their power (and that sweet noise!) Sounds SO good!
      I once beat a 903 cc Harley Sportster with my 550-four. He couldn't believe it. He said "but I have way more torque". I asked him where he shifted,
      and he said about 4,500 - 5,000. About right for a Sportster. I told him I shifted 9,000 - 10,000, twice as high. That's the secret. Overhead cam, short stroke.
      multiple carburetors. Rev those suckers! They love it, they're built for it, as this video graphically shows!

This was replaced with all gloss black paint on side covers and tank; engine painted black with cylinder fins filed on the end to give an 80's look to the bike (much better than the gross green and orange combo). TimSalsaNights Thanks...I need to get another video some day. The bike is back to Green now...a BMW color called British Racing Green.
      All the 4 into 4 exhausts rotted out decades ago. I wish I knew what brand my 4 into 2's are but theres no label at all.
      Safe riding to you as well.

      Coldsmoke yeah as u will see in my videos I am still rocking a very sunbeached flake matador red paint job proving hard to find a match for. All the best

      TimSalsaNights Nice video quality and nice bike sir! I've had original paint matched several times with a device called a "Prophet" which scans your existing paint and allows the paint shop recreate it exactly. Just find an area that isn't sun bleached(if possible).
      Good luck with your project!

    Back in 1973 I don't remember anyone referring to a 350 cc bike as a beginner's bike. I think we were a bit smarter then.

    I had one in the early to mid 1970s.Very dependable and fun. But one day while running out each gear to the max I suddenly felt that the bike had become simply too lame for me. I sold it and bought a Yamaha 650XS. The friend I sold the Honda 350 to wiped out about a week after buying it from me about 4 blocks from Sibley Hospital in D.C.. just saying

      I gave it some extra flogging for the making of this video, that's for sure.
      I just stepped off of this bike literally minutes ago after a 90 km ride.
      It's just as enjoyable now is it ever was...a wonderful little machine although it is green these days.

    back in the seventies most of these were bought by mature riders who kept them in home recreation areas and rode them occasionally, I guess that's why so many survive in such good nick and they were so civilized and smooth that you could only treat them like this when you removed the original 4into4 exhaust. Not meant for racing as most 200cc two strokes would have it for lunch. I would still buy an original though as they are timeless in style and the lil 4cyl is so smooth. .

  • @scudmisl

    my only wish is that you would have ridden it HARDER!!! these vintage bikes beg to be at WOT...and as you said, anything less would be uncivilized. good showing sir, carry on :)

    I was hiking through the desert today and found the remains of one of these. It looked like it was thrown off the cliff I found it at he bottom of. It's subframe was screwed up, but the central frame had no visible damage, and the valve cover had a chunk missing. A lot of parts were scavenged from it, the clutch cover was missing, the carbs were gone, the front wheel was gone, so was the speedometer, the oil pan, the seat, the tank, and some other pieces. the exhaust was scattered around. However, the engine itself, the cylinder, and the crankcase was all in tact, it seemed that there was no damage to the engine itself except the honda plates being dented, and the valve cover having a chunk missing, I have found all of these parts outside of the carburetors on ebay, and really want to make such a wonderful bike run again. Even if it's a lost cause, It's a lost cause I would like found.

      @ColdSmokes  8 лет назад

      Thanks for watching my video! Sounds like you might be in a rescue mission...if the engine turns, that's a plus. Parts are readily available for sure and it might make a fun restoration project for you but keep in mind that something seemingly discarded in that manner might be tied to illegal activity and would make it difficult if not impossible for you to someday return it to the public streets. Another option would be to score another one and start there... $1000 can easily get you started.
      Cheers

      There is an abandoned construction sight at the top of the cliff. Tractors are definitely too heavy to push off the cliff, but a poor little motorcycle....
      It would probably be better to get a moslty complete one. As for the motor, I am fairly certain it's seized, I think I would have to replace the internals, they've been exposed to the air for somewhere up to four decades, and have a layer of rust.

    • @ColdSmokes
      @ColdSmokes  2 года назад

      it's probably pretty safe to say they had it figured out since at least 1961 when they won the 125 and 250cc world championships with overhead cam Screamers.
