    Pretty small/modest away section because the Cincinnati and the Colorado stadium are 1,185 miles, 1,910 kilometers, (about the same as Lisbon Portugal to Monaco city Monaco) apart. That’s why it’s a cross conference game. Teams typically only play 4-6 such cross-conference games per year so the majority of their fixtures are closer to home. Even within a conference though, Miami and Toronto, for example, are both in the eastern conference but still 1,483 miles or 2,386 kilometers (Lisbon Portugal to Munich germany) apart. I could be wrong, but I believe one of the longest away trips is Inter Miami CF to Vancouver Whitecaps. That’s 3,471 miles or 5,586 kilometers or only a trip from Madrid to Amsterdam.

      Away sections in the US are always small unless it is a regional rivalry. Geographically, it is difficult and expensive.

      Miami to Vancouver (approx 5528 km) is more like Lisbon to Beirut (approx 5528 km) than Madrid to Amsterdam, which I think is more like your Miami to Toronto example

      @@nosleeptillhumboldt I did by driving routes. So if you had to go from city to city by Road, they’re almost the exact same mileage. In fact, by road, my example that I gave in Europe that’s similar to Miami to Vancouver is still almost 70 miles longer than Miami to Vancouver.

    Another thing to consider it that Colorado is at a very high altitude, over 5,000 feet, so I don't know if Cin would being going full pace either.

    Goalkeeping in MLS is actually really good.
    It doesn't help that the Rapids are one of the worst in the Western Conference right now. But saying that Sporting KC (was bottom of the West) just hammered Portland 4-1 Portland is a very good team.
    This is why many people enjoy MLS, you don't know who will win! That's the beauty of it.
    In other leagues it's the same 6, 3, or 2 teams winning every year. MLS does have playoffs and yes you generally have to big teams like Seattle, LAFC, Philly, Portland but you also have teams who barely get in and give a good showing and even win MLS Cup. Example being RSL.

      @gracielynn9623 Год назад

      Looking back the quality is pretty poor but the 2009 Real Salt lake team and the 2010 Colorado Rapids team were both fun playoff runs to watch, not to mention arch rivals winning it in back-to-back seasons.

    That’s just your typical FCC win. They prefer to take a 1-0 lead and then grind you out the rest of the way but keep you honest at the same time and try to capitalize on a mistake to go up 2-0 or 2-1. They are one of the best defensive teams in MLS and they know it.

    When the MLS RUclips page puts out it’s highlights, I’d recommend Nashville SC vs Columbus Crew because there was a pretty spectacular goal. New England Revolution vs Chicago Fire was another thriller. The past two Chicago games, their game against Atlanta United last weekend and their game against New England this past weekend, have a combined twelve goals scored between the two sides. Houston Dynamo vs Austin FC was also a derby game. It’s part of the three team texas derby called the Copa Tejas. Also don’t forget the first leg of the champions league final between club León and LAFC is Wednesday, and so is a full slate of twelve MLS games on wednesday as well.

    Yeah the Colorado Rapids stadium has earned itself a reputation, much like Real Salt Lake, for having a smaller crowd and a less vibrant atmosphere. Like RSL, Colorado Rapids is a small market team and has one of the poorest owners in the league. Very unlikely you’ll ever get a big name player out of the rapids and they’ll hope for diamonds in the rough with everyone’s leftovers instead. They also haven’t been very good last couple of seasons so that doesn’t help their attendance issues. Colorado still brings in about 15,000 though regular so a fairly large portion of it’s capacity. They’d probably draw better if they played in Denver, Colorado’s largest and most well-known city, instead of Commerse City a ways away from town.

    • @cliffrusso1159
      @cliffrusso1159 Год назад +1

      Usually when RSL is good or they're fighting for a playoff spot the crowds show out. Last season I believe they set a record for 13 home match sellout streak.

    • @gracielynn9623
      @gracielynn9623 Год назад

      @@cliffrusso1159 yes that’s correct. They averaged over capacity for attendance last year if I’m not mistaken. When the team is good, they show out big time.

    The game was played at Colorado. Publications which evaluate such things consider that club's support/environment as one of the most tepid in the league.
    The stadium is miles from Denver city centre, or anything interesting at all. The second division club in Colorado Springs, Switchbacks FC, play in a smaller, but properly located park. Far better stadium experience.
    Football is not meant to be played in a sea of carparks. It is meant to be played amongst the people the clubs represent.
    Boo, Rapids.

      Unrelated topic, any thoughts on Spurs appointment of Postecoglou?
      His success or failure hinges upon his ability to influence Levy to buy the players they need, and sell off the dead wood.
      Much is being made of the Harry Kane situation, but I don't believe Ange cares a whit whether he stays out goes. If he stays, he'll play like Ange wants him to play, or he'll sit. If he goes, Ange will buy three players no one's ever heard of or cared about, collectively get more out of them, and add squad depth.
      It will start out rocky. After 6-8 matches, Spurs will be 10th-12th on the table, and people will be nervous. By the January window, they'll be in full flow. By April, they'll be on the precipice of the top 4.
      Just my opinion.

      People call me crazy but I think many of the top 3-4 teams in each MLS conference, east and west, might be able to find success in the EFL league system. I don’t think it is because they have overwhelming quality or depth, but because of the playing style. I think it might be hard for some teams in the english system to match or keep pace with, but the other teams in England would, undoubtedly, adjust over time.

    Cincinnati has had, and continues to have, a grueling schedule of games. Not only have they been dealing with a compact regular season schedule, but they are also playing in the Lamar Hunt Open Cup. Their schedule looks like this - 5/17 vs. Montreal > 5/20 vs. Columbus > 5/23 vs. NY Red Bulls (Open Cup) > 5/27 Colorado > 5/31 vs. NYCFC > 6/3 vs. Chicago > 6/6 vs. Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC (Open Cup Quarter Final) > 6/10 vs. Vancouver.
    This game took place after the amazing, and physically intense, Hell is Real derby vs. Columbus and an open cup game vs. NY Red Bulls that went all the way to PKs. At over 5000ft of elevation, Colorado's stadium is always tough to play at. With the compact schedule taken into account, a high altitude game against a struggling team is probably the best game to try to take at a slower pace and grind out a win. That's why you don't see as many numbers forward, this game was intentionally played conservatively.
    Since you enjoy Acosta's play so much, you should check out last night's game vs. NYCFC (5/31). It took place on Acosta's birthday
