That's because of the market. Fahad's kannada movie might not have market at both kerala and karnataka. Now, they can promote as a malayalam movie at kerala and a kannada movie at karnataka
movie team kannada. he doesn't have. But, now they can market at 2 states. As a hombale / pawan movie at karnataka and as a fahad movie at kerala. If it was an original kannada movie with Fahad, it won't sell much at kerala

Director's detachment from the cine world for too long might have been the problem with Dhoomam. This proved same with Alphonse Putheran's 'Gold'
