  • In this video Cliff shows how to connect a bluetooth phone to the base head unit in his 5th gen Camaro. This includes the 2010-2015 Camaro model years.
    Note that this was the only head unit available from 2010-2012. In 2013, the Chevy MyLink system was introduced but the base model Camaro still included the basic head unit.

    Note: If you have something plugged into the Aux or USB port you will NOT be able to access the "Aux Jack Out" submenu. Also, I believe this will only work with Convenience and Connectivity Package (SRJ)

    Bro. I just bought a 2012 Camaro a few weeks ago, and not having Bluetooth for music was my biggest complaint for the car. I literally browsed reddit and many car forums and everyone said that the 5th gen camaros did not have bluetooth for music, only calls and you had to buy a FM transmitter. I refused and used a USB Type C splitter to aux, and there was loud buzzing and I just ended up keeping the radio off. I cam across this video randomly while browsing, and I went and tried what you showed in the video, and it worked. You literally made me love my car even more. Lolll. Thank youuuuu

    Hot tip: if you own a later model 2015 like I do(2015 RS) the head unit that supports Bluetooth streaming was only included in cars that came with the connectivity package. If you dont have a USB port built in to the car, you don't have Bluetooth music. If you want it, do what i did, Go grab a Bluetooth adapter for like 10$. It plugs into 1 of the 2 outlets and uses an empty channel on the radio.

    I have an Anker Roav Bolt and it has been awesome. It plugs into your 12v outlet and then uses an aux cord to plug into the car. Phone connects automatically after it powers on and even has google assistant on it. Its only $50 so you can't go wrong there. You can also take calls handsfree through it's internal microphones. Way easier than dealing with the bluetooth for music in the Camaro. Nice vid though my guy!

    Dude... HOW BOOTLEG! I wish I knew it was there though before I did everything else I've tried so far.
    First I routed a full time AUX Cable from the Center Console to just below the stereo and fabricated a little stand and also ran a power cable from there too.
    Later, I bought a powered SUB and built a Power Port into the side of it and bought a Bluetooth Transceiver which normally works fine until there is FM interference.
    I'll try this when I get home tonight, I'm already unhappy about the reconfig that's necessary EVERY TIME a phone call comes in. Doesn't happen that often anyway.
    Good tip..

    • @TheSundaeDrive

      I know for real. Also, I found that as long as when the car shuts off you have your phone connected for audio and you are in the device menu (where you connect the phone), the phone will automatically connect for audio the next time you start the car. Something super annoying tho is how Bluetooth will drop calls them reacquire then about 5 seconds later

      I have a 2014 LS and there is a aux cable connection in the center consel below the outlet charger and I just connected a 3.5mm aux jack cable that plugs into your phone thru the phones phone jack port or you can also buy a adapter that the phone jack headset plugs into to convert it to a USB connecting so you can connected it to your phone charging port if your phone no longer makes the headphone input. But that's how I use my phone to play music from it but I need to see if I can get this music Bluetooth to work and if not try to see if a Bluetooth adapter will work like others have said they did but thanks for the video is very helpful.

    Just saw your Video and tried it with my wife’s 2011 Camaro being I had to take it to NJ inspection today. She never drives the car so it sits in my Pole Barn with my Classic Cars. The car just turned 400 miles today believe it or not. Couldn’t get Blue tooth to work I am thinking the radio doesn’t have Bluetooth Capability. Funny it looks exactly like the Radio in the video.

    • @ffas23
      @ffas23 4 года назад +1

      Didn't get a chance the other day but saw today that I don't have a jack in the center console for USB the car only has a auxiliary input jack for a portable audio player for 3.5 mm (1/8 in) cable. I enjoyed driving the car being my wife is not using it. She has her 2016 Malibu as her main ride. Funny I actually failed inspection on the 2011 Camaro yesterday with only 400 miles on the car. I had just replaced the factory battery in the car 6 or 8 months ago but didn't drive the car. Wasn't thinking when I brought it to inspection but once you replace the battery all the SMOG I/M Monitors need to reset and you have to put better then 50 miles on the car to do it. The NJ Inspectors knew right away that I must of replaced the battery in the car. Luckily I own a OBDII tester that I was able to plug into the system to keep a eye on the monitors resetting so I could take it back to inspection today. Once that was done I had no problem. So right now I am thinking maybe it is time to put a new Kenwood Double Din Handsfree receiver with CarPay in the Camaro. That may be next on the agenda. I just upgraded my C5 and C6 Corvette with 2 new Kenwood Double Dins back in May 2020. Got to be able to use my iPhone in the car to have some decent sounds if I am going to drive it. FM radio and a CD player is not good enough today and what can I really use that Auxiliary input jack for? I don't think I even own anything to plug into it. Old Tech.

      The Sundae Drive I installed 4 Kenwood Double Dins in the last 2 years. One in my daughters ‘07 Mustang, one each in the ‘99 C5 and ‘06 C6 Corvettes and one in my 2000 Mercury Marquis all with CarPlay. They work great. As good as you would expect any Factory Radio to operate. That is why I am considering doing the 2011 Camaro eventually. I just need to do a little research on what aftermarket dash kit is the best to go with for the car so the Radio can communicate with the Computer in the car. In the 2000 Merc and ‘07 Mustang I didn’t need to purchase a Interface but for the C5 and C6 Corvette I needed to. In the C5 I went with Axcess and with the C6 I went with a PAC Interface.

      @@alexisherrera9377 you don't. Newer models like my 2015 RS don't have the PDIM Module (A USB port). Without that, you stuck without Bluetooth unless you go old school and get a Bluetooth receiver that goes into 1 of the charger outlets. They fill an empty channel on the radio and your good to go. @@adelina7 depends on your head unit
      The rule of thumb is that if it doesn't have a USB port built in(The PDIM module that was included in the "connectivity package"), then the answer is usually no. Personally I just went out amd got a 10$ Bluetooth adapter that plugs into 1 of the outlets. It works fine and didn't have to pay $200+ for a new head unit and the wiring

    If I have music playing through Bluetooth on my phone and I shut the car off and open the door to let the radio turn off that way with the Bluetooth still connected when I start my car back up it will go right back to still being connected for music if you do it any other way you have to link backup and you don't have to go through the process on the radio you can go into your Bluetooth settings and find the GM music Bluetooth Link on your phone just hit that and it will link right up and it will do that if you're listening to the radio a CD or if your on the aux out

    • @TheSundaeDrive
      @TheSundaeDrive  5 лет назад +1

      It will not come up if you have anything plugged into the port or USB. It also requires you have the correct connectivity package. I've been doing more research and asking on the forums but it looks like they may have pulled it as an option from the 2013-15 Camaros since they wanted customers to purchase the mylink system that was offered during those years. I haven't been able to determine a firm answer. I am pretty confident the functionality exists either way but they may have disabled it.
