Videos are a little out of sync…. I sold this purple Volvo 5 days after this video was recorded 😂 it left the same day the river flooded. As lovely as it was, it was too new for me.
It's my car now... I'll let you know about the pull under braking when I've addressed it. Headlamp dipped nearside has failed... otherwise... Pretty dreamy car, thanks for the polish!!!
There's every chance you'll enjoy owning the car a lot. Those D5 engines are great for going on and on and on. And they're so comfortable and not too bad on the fuel.
Made me jealous cos I've got all my diesel stored in plastic drums.. Well, I do have 2 Jerry cans but I'd defo fill them 7 of geoff's given the chance..
George comes across as a really laid-back cool guy. If I lived near to his business, I would definitely have my car detailed by him, without hesitation. 👍 I watched to the end Geoff, and really enjoyed it ! 👍
George seems the kind of fella I'd travel some miles to give my money. When the weather becomes less shit (will it happen?!) and I've sorted some rust, he'll be getting my business. Nice one, Geoff 🥰🥰
Your new car brings back memories Geoff. I had an S60 petrol auto in that colour, a 55 plate, and I mainly bought it because I liked the colour so much. I only ever saw another when I took it to the Volvo dealer for a service and parked next to another the same colour. The owner of that car came out and was amazed, he had only just been telling the service department that his was the only one he had ever seen in that colour, then he saw mine parked alongside his. BTW, I part exed it 7 years later with 95K miles, it hadn't had a single problem except I seem to recall that the headlight bulbs were almost impossible to change as the engine ancillaries were so close to the rear of the light housing.
Not boring at all, and i don't even suffer from Volvoitis acutis (we could play with the vowels maybe, lol) or car love generally. Maybe a wee bit Hiluxiimelancholisis, that lingers... yet . . Entertained and informed, worth the gauk, even gave me a chuckle. Carry on amigo.
XC 70 has to be about the best winter smoker, big fan of them ( though they always look wonky side on with how the rear wheels sit forward of centre in the arches) 👍
That indeed is a lovely color. I think it was also available on the C70's and S90's. But i have NEVER seen it on an S60. About that pulling to 1 side under braking. That could very well be clapped out lower control arm bushings. Easiest fix is to just swap the entire control arm. It is a bit of a weak pont for the P2 cars. I had change both on my 2001 T5.
My grandad had d5 s60 on a 52 plate and it was brilliant, he eventually replaced it in 2012 with a brand new superb once again that was a brilliant car.
Love the colour. I 've just had 'the corners' re-painted on my V70 T5. The front garden wall repair will have to wait! As for those wedding ring scratches, even worse on a windscreen thanks to the previous owner!
As a minor petrol head I strangely like my XC70 D5 SE LUX Auto. Massively useful, comfortable and the 5 cylinder does make a great noise. Not by any means a hooligan car, relatively soft suspension and a fair amount of weight. Not great fuel economy but not bad either. Strangely friends and family that have ridden in it all comment how comfortable it is. The automatic is great but it is worth doing a fluid flush to try to preserve it.
They are nice cars, I got myself an S80 SE with the D5 in it, and that's the same kind of thing, big old bus but super comfy and quick enough when it needs to be, though I only get around 36mpg out of it.
@@MattersOfOpinion-x4d mine usually does slightly better on fuel, but I live in a rural area and rarely have heavy traffic to deal with. The car is a total departure for me, only my second automatic in about 50 years of driving. It is over 10 years old now, and I still look for excuses to drive it, so they must have got something right.
Looks fantastic Geoff 🤩🤩🤩. I wonder if George’s XC70 was supplied by Walfred Motors Volvo main dealers here in Hull, with it having the GRH Hull reg. number (assuming that’s the original plate 🤔)
The purple ish Volvo looked brilliant before it was buffed! How very encouraging. I’ve never buffed a car, but I recently acquired all the kit required to do it. In due course, I’m going to practise on my wife’s 2017 Evoque, which looks very swirly and not as shiny as when we bought it.
I bought an 52 plate S60 T5 from a Liquidation company on the A12 back in 2006. it had 169k on the clock!!!!!! I paid £4500. it was an ex police car. And it was Superb! It had all the Bells & Whistles, including the Car phone pack. a SIM card went into the Dashboard, and it even thad a Handset int the centre consol! At the time it was "The Fastest Mobile Phone, IN THE WORLD!"
As your passion is a Volvo 850, mine is XC70’s, I have two, a 2005 auto 160 thousand miles in great nick and my daily driver is a 2010 auto with D5 engine and 130 thousand miles, great cars.
It was called “jerry” from the American US Forces slang term “Jerry” for Germans. The jerry cans were born. The new design retained the German handles, size, and shape. Very quickly, the American jerry cans became widely used by the US Army and Marine Corps units and served a crucial role in the outcome of WWII.
Nice motor Geoff. One of the worst cars I have had was a LHD Volvo S40 we had from new when we moved to France in 2002. Like the 4 wd you are in. Always wanted one.
Xc 70 here in aus are generally completely broken and a super expensive to fix here so I steer we’ll clear from them I have to say I like your purple one that looks one very sweet ride
I love XC70 's when people do the off road look to them with decent all terrain tyres and some extra lights. However Geoff seen two XC70 ocean race editions on eBay at the moment.
With the Jerry cans...as you bought so many...just make sure you have two"Jerry can" spouts....one for petrol and one for diesel.......it's like having a glass hammer/seatbelt cutter even if you never need it...
8 years ago I bought a 2002 Volvo S60 2.0t S auto, in green, with 102,000 miles for £1,400 + £600 part ex, 1 previous owner a doctor, it had 4 x Continentals on it, it now has 157,000 miles still full service history
Once you get a p2 volvo you'll get hooked, my v70 is the nicest and best car I've ever owned, absolute peak of volvo imo and the price you can get one for now, theres a 05 xc70 d5 euro3 near me for 500 quid 😮 141k miles is nothing for these
I've never paid to have my car detailed because at this time of year and through the winter I get totally peessed off after just washing my car as it's filthy again after a few days then in summer I get the pollen from living close to neglected fields that feels like a fine grain sandpaper to the touch on the car and again after being washed is covered in a few days, other than that I've nothing to moan about.
Sorry to hear about Jezzas brush with the Almighty, hope he is in good recovery, he is one of the few who speaks truth to power. May be not to God though.🧐🇬🇧
I had 4 V70’s and the maindealer offered me a great deal on a XC70, I was unsure but he said once you’ve had an XC70 you won’t go back to a V70. 9 XC70’s later, I think he was right…..😂
Berlin e.v. fire truck just burnt down the depot at a guestimate of 22,000,000 euro's damagees. You couldnt make it up, the place didnt even have a fire alarm.
it's brown + it's a saloon, no good to man or beast... now, George, on the other hand, is purple + very nice... check inside your gerry cans, some cheap ones were painted inside, this flakes off + blocks your fuel filter
SEVEN SECONDS, before yiu interrupted yourself Geoff. 7. My last whip was a XC 70R - but with 17" rims and high profile tyres. Id have it back tomorrow, IF it wasnt for inflation and me on a pension 🤦♂️
Hi Geoff, I was just wondering if you knew of anybody who buys wheelchair accessible cars I have a 2013 Volkswagen Caddy with ride out front next to the driver it has 26,000 miles I've put a new clutch in it new brakes discs pads all round new battery. It just sits on my driveway I never get to use it. None of my carers have driving licenses. So it never gets used it's a 1.6 Diesel turbo. I live on the Isle of Wight and there are no dealers over here I brought it from a place in Chichester but they are useless and don't want to buy it back because they have too many that they cannot shift themselves I paid 12,000 pounds for it I'd happily take 9000 if you know anybody on your travels who buys disability cars
It’s Ok…….. they’re both Ok………. but, they’re not an XC90 d5 SE Geartronic 185bhp……… which is the best. Well, nearly as good as a 164e or a 164te…….. which cannot be beaten….. 🙂
Videos are a little out of sync…. I sold this purple Volvo 5 days after this video was recorded 😂 it left the same day the river flooded. As lovely as it was, it was too new for me.
I knew you wouldnt keep it as it wasnt an estate !
It's my car now... I'll let you know about the pull under braking when I've addressed it. Headlamp dipped nearside has failed... otherwise... Pretty dreamy car, thanks for the polish!!!
Headlamp failed already?! Damn. But…. How comfy?!
Beautiful colour on that s60 thx for showing.
There's every chance you'll enjoy owning the car a lot. Those D5 engines are great for going on and on and on. And they're so comfortable and not too bad on the fuel.
Not a boring video Geoff. Good to see a couple of really nice old Volvos. So much more interesting than new cars👍🏼
Jerry cans is a clear sign of a hardcore prepper.
Made me jealous cos I've got all my diesel stored in plastic drums.. Well, I do have 2 Jerry cans but I'd defo fill them 7 of geoff's given the chance..
Total bargain price as well and the very best spare fuel containers.
Only if they’re proper thick metal ones. I’ve several.
Or farmers
George comes across as a really laid-back cool guy. If I lived near to his business, I would definitely have my car detailed by him, without hesitation. 👍 I watched to the end Geoff, and really enjoyed it ! 👍
We offer enclosed transport 😉 haha! Thank you for the kind words!
Nice one Geoff 👍Love the work you do on your cars just enough 👍🥳
Georges car and your car stunningly beautiful. 😮😅😊
George seems the kind of fella I'd travel some miles to give my money. When the weather becomes less shit (will it happen?!) and I've sorted some rust, he'll be getting my business. Nice one, Geoff 🥰🥰
Much appreciated 🫶
Love the bit at 15:05 when the bird magically appears from Geoff's hand as he strokes his purple beast.
Keep up the good work Geoff but no 850! 🚙 Love the new wheels. Colour looks lovely.

Great to see George (Eddie Redmayne) with his Fantastic Beasts (Cars) again😅😊😂❤
I cant cope 😭😂
Not boring at all, and i don't even suffer from Volvoitis acutis (we could play with the vowels maybe, lol) or car love generally.

Great episode Geoff....cheers
Love the S60. Had a 2.0T and I think they're one of the best saloons ever.
Around year 2000 onwards on a Y or W or 51 the XC70 was then just the V70-Cross Country. It got updated to the XC70 around 2002. Brilliant smokers. 😅
That indeed is a lovely color. I think it was also available on the C70's and S90's. But i have NEVER seen it on an S60.

Facebook marketplace is either brilliant or absolutely shocking for the other 99% of the time 🤣

I'm sure that's the S60 I've been eyeing on Marketplace Geoff. Lovely motor.

How's the V6 in these in terms of reliability? Looking at one currently here in Australia.

I had a silver S60 from new then bought a v70 06 plate once again new, both D5s other than crap turning circles the best cars I’ve had.
850 turning circle on standard wheels is SO much better
Jeez! My Toyota Yaris 1.8SR came to me from the dealer with Ditchfinder General tyres on it. Shite in the wet.
Love Volvo's...especially diesels...
Now that's a KEEPER.
Look how beautiful and elegant it looks on today's roads that are infested with SUVs.
Xc 70 here in aus are generally completely broken and a super expensive to fix here so I steer we’ll clear from them
I have to say I like your purple one that looks one very sweet ride
And hopefully a direct energy weapon or weather manipulation machine doesn't get you on the way home and spoil that lovely polished cherry paint !
I love XC70 's when people do the off road look to them with decent all terrain tyres and some extra lights. However Geoff seen two XC70 ocean race editions on eBay at the moment.
My neighbour has a 20 yr old on̈e but only getting 38-40mpg bur a lovely car.
My mate has an ocean race edition x70, you’d cry if you saw it. Works the beautiful beast like a van (tree surgeon) 4wd comes in handy
Try finding a front driveshaft for one 🤬
@BleachDemon99 sadly this is the reason old estate cars disappear quickly is due to being used like a van.
With the Jerry cans...as you bought so many...just make sure you have two"Jerry can" spouts....one for petrol and one for diesel.......it's like having a glass hammer/seatbelt cutter even if you never need it...
Same Jerrycans as mine, I think (only mind are newer and do not scratched). I think Geoff got a bargain. Iirc a can that size is around £30. Each.
That XC70 is the same spec as mine. Nearly as comfortable as a Rover 75.
Best budget tyre brand I ever had on a car were "Windforce Chargers"!
I think the D5 is a belting engine and I do like the S60 as my brother had one but not quite the simple reliable rock solid 850/S70.
Lovely car sir
8 years ago I bought a 2002 Volvo S60 2.0t S auto, in green, with 102,000 miles for £1,400 + £600 part ex, 1 previous owner a doctor, it had 4 x Continentals on it, it now has 157,000 miles still full service history
the roof trims always have paint issues on the s60 , usually the clear coat goes first
Once again you didnt say how much of a bargain your purple wagon was!
7 cans for 35 quid... Geoff cleans up...👍
Once you get a p2 volvo you'll get hooked, my v70 is the nicest and best car I've ever owned, absolute peak of volvo imo and the price you can get one for now, theres a 05 xc70 d5 euro3 near me for 500 quid 😮 141k miles is nothing for these
Is a Jerry Can a BMW? I’ve not heard that one before. I call them BuMWipes
Somehow I ended up with a significant number of Jerry cans full of diesel at the end of an exercise. Still in the shed. May come in handy one day
Geoff will buy them. Not sure where he stores all this junk .... 😂
that video title comes with the free second line:
'i am altering the deal, pray i don’t alter it any further.'
Small ding on drivers side of bonnet ( paintless smart repair )
Looks like you got the jerry cans from the eastern front
Geoff, what about cars with child seat fittings that are already there so as not to affect insurance?
A day in the life of Bib:
Get up, go to work, go home, watch 'Geoff Buys Cars' and go to bed.
Wash & repeat.
Are you being a pepper 👍🤗

Geoff there is a Bill Gates, Vector cam, Africa, Mosquito advert on your video. Think Old Bill Gates taking the pi$$.
I had 4 V70’s and the maindealer offered me a great deal on a XC70, I was unsure but he said once you’ve had an XC70 you won’t go back to a V70.
9 XC70’s later, I think he was right…..😂
9?! Email me, I’ve got one on the way!

You couldnt make it up, the place didnt even have a fire alarm.
Bit of a dent in the bonnet (rhs) could be flattened out by an expert.
How do u sort insurance out on so many cars..
I have a multi car policy and a very patient broker

Tyre snob or do you know something we don't?
A Vauxhall in disguise

To me a proper volvo MUST be automatic. I'm sorry but It had to be said.

if its the 185bhp you will only get 28mpg round town
😛
Have touch up stick Blackberry Volvo hue
You can get in 20 volvos but as soon as you get in the BMW E38 its orgasm time you wont go back .its called MOYRA not purple .
Sorry Geoff, but it's almost impossible to understand what people say when they are several meters away from your (micro)phone...
