    Fascinating, "A person with a poor and contrite heart -That's True Religion". Better than all the external offerings and sacrifices of the temple. Thank you, Dr. James Tabor. Listening to you strengthens my Faith in Jesus Christ and the Bible even more. Mark is presenting the True Gospel. Watched the series from Day 1 to 3, and I learned so many insights.🔥 Thank you for sharing your "scholarly" knowledge to build the Church. Looking forward to Day 4. 🙏

    Thank you, Dr. Tabor. I have been going to your web site for a number of years at Easter time. I studied all that I could and had inklings of what you present. Your work makes me understand what I vaguely glimpsed. And some of your ideas took a while for me to grasp, but in the end, they make a lot of sense to understand the historic Jesus.

    The more I listen to Dr. Tabor, the more I see that Jesus was greatly affected by the death of John the Baptist. I think it was a very strong motivation for his mission.

    • @JakeLeidahl
      @JakeLeidahl 9 месяцев назад +1

      The motivation for His mission is written all over the Old Testament. Every thing in the Old Testament points to Jesus and his being crucified and rising again. The only reason for animal sacrifice was to point to the real one

    12:00 an interesting parallel to this is the version in the gospel of Thomas, which is sayings 65 and 66. In gThom, there are only three representatives, with the third being the son. It's actually a neater version than even gMark imho.
    Also, the gThom version also closes with Jesus quoting psalm 117, and I've always wondered about the connection between the wicked tenants and the stone the builders discarded.

    To love God (keep his commandments) is greater than sacrifices. This was taught when Saul ordered the soldiers to sacrifice the animals of their enemies when God had commanded them to destroy everything. God reprimanded Saul and said “To obey is better than to sacrifice.”
    God commanded the people in the Law of Moses to repent before offering sacrifices. They were sacrificing without repenting.

    Right. Any discussion of replacing Rome was met with execution. Jesus knew this but his faith in god and prophecy betrayed him. Thus, “My god why have you forsaken me?”. His death truly destroyed Rome at the end of the day. Maybe not in the way he intended

    Ending the sacrifice of chosen species, chosen peoples, and messiah candidates is what it's all about. That is the ultimate defeat of the "whack-a-messiah" destroy to build back "better" adversary. We finally won day 7 of creation by completing the Gaia experiment and raising a fully awakened Messiah - an incarnation of God, but there's much left to do in the remaining 5 days of creation as we clean out the hive mind nests of the adversary and send them back to their "source"

    The fourth gospel covers the last week extremely well. If John were the author then everything John did should be in it. The fourth gospel says that Jesus sent two disciples to prepare the room for the last supper. Luke says the two disciples were Peter and John.

    I don't see how anyone can use the Gospels as the basis for historical accounts. They are mythic literary historical fiction with mostly some elements of actual actions, speech and behavior of Jesus thrown in as well as perhaps some real events but which ones we do not know. The trial before Pilate in public most likely never happened and Rome would not execute someone or do the bidding of the Jews over Jewish theological issues. ("Blasphemy".) they could careless. The idea Pilate capitulated to a Jewish crowd and released a known Zealot is preposterous.
    Jesus spoke openly about a "kingdom" that was not Rome, and that he was its Divine representative, not Rome or Caesar. Throw in some minor disturbances and game over.

      @@Marabarra94 John is almost 100% mythology with almost no historical events. It really is for Jews a form of Paganism. The idea they were cousins is nonsense. As a **faith document* it has some value because some passages are beautifully written but not as an historical one.

      @e.t.ethics1771 Both are built on mythic elements sometimes in interpretation of history, sometimes just as myth. All of Genesis is myth but myths sometimes have important things to teach us. Because ancient people thought and expressed more in mythic terms does not mean they were less intelligent. It just means we cannot use our materialist-rational framework to evaluate those expressions, AND *not* to take them literally or think they are historically reliable.

    Here's a crazy thought render to Ceaser the things that are Ceaser ( Ceaser being the representative of the king of earth.Satan is the King of the children of pride (JOB).render may be defined as to give back as during the Temptation Satan even said as prince of this world he give to whom he will...but the second part Jesus just said to GOD the things that are Gods.if this is done in the book of Leviticus there is a set formula or way of doing just that,but all this is physical things or position of status whilst the living soul is alive ( of note: pretaining to or of HIS statement is the fact that Jesus truned down all that the prince of this world offered HIM.)they marvled that coin with Ceasers image should not have been in the Temple.But Jesus railed not against them knowing who their father was. The statement had dicotonemy and parrallesm as even to HIM self who had not 10 but 12 commandments to give to GOD 1. Speek not HIS words but only what HE was told to say2.To go to the cross: that temple worship animal sacrifice the levite priest cast and tithing may be ABBROGATED!!!TO much more on this but im not Dr. Tabor.well God bless all who wish to abide in Christ.

    Maybe when you use Josepheus as a sourcr you should mention he does not believe Daniel 9:27 is about Jesus, he does not believe the book is divine, and he thought it was a contemporary king/emperor. So I can see how an atheist would like Josepheus but maybe inform your audience that your sources sre heavily biased as well.
