I'm Costa Rican but we don't really say that we have colonial cities here in comparison to others countries in Central America, maybe just remains sadly. The reason Costa Rica was the southern place and the forgotten place for the Spaniards and the viceroyalty of Mexico, Capitanía de Guatemala. Thus, Costa Rica got by itself before and after independence.
I agree in Guatemala and Nicaragua for example, there are huge colonial cities, however Costa Rica is a lot green that's what makes it the most visited Central American country.
the plantains don´t look fried jaja not brown enough for me, but it does look delicious though, I´m planing on going over there during thanksgiving long weekend, I can´t wait to try the tortilleria place, thanks for the video!
About the lottery: Depending on the day you were recording it could be “el gordito navideño” it’s the biggest prize of the year and people buy more lottery on December because in this month they get a 13th salary (so people have more money to spend). Each fraction costs about $3.3 and if you are lucky enough you get around $66k per each fraction. ✌🏼
@@TalesFromTheRoad haha, well, I’m not a lottery expert. But there are 3 big prizes 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize. You need to have the exact same number and “serie” (there are 1000 series of the 100 numbers, each number has 40 pieces (the 40 pieces are called “entero”) (you can buy just one piece if you want). If you didn’t buy any of those 3 numbers, you can still win/earn some money with small prizes and you have to check a huge list (link at the end). Also you can win if you get “terminación”, let’s say the number for the first prize is 66, then all the numbers ending in 6 will win some money too. If you buy The “entero” (40 pieces) of the first prize you win $2.6M. It’s complicated haha, but these are the basic things, you can do a whole video on this topic, but not sure if someone will be interested in watching lol. ✌🏼 observador.cr/amanecio-millonario-consulte-aqui-lista-completa-del-gordo-navideno/
Well, Los Chorros is not a national park, but a municipal one, from the municipality of Greece. Concur with the comment about colonial towns: we don't have any, the monuments you saw at the earliest from the second half of the XIX century. Liberia, in Guanacaste, may be the closest thing that we have to a historic center that looks colonial (butr isn't). And yes, Juan Santamaría was a soldier in the war against the filibusters from North America and Europe who had invaded Nicaragua and tried to establish a slave republic in Central America in the 1850s.
I give you an F in Costa Rica History. -- In 1856 Juan Santamaría (born 1831) fought against William Wallker (USA) and NEVER fought for independence from Spain (1821). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juan_Santamaría
I heard on Wikileaks that he didn't even exist or that his story was actually made up I'm not saying it's true bro cuz that's what I heard say yes Costa Rica did liberate Nicaragua from slavery but now we hate them for some reason
@@nickbrooks7171 I don't know about toxic if it's funny how people go back to history that they don't want one time or another we actually look at each other's as brothers and not someone thats unwelcome here or just need to get out of our country when everybody knows that the people from Nicaragua are building our country food for thought
Adding some Salsa Lizano to the tamales is highly recommended!
I was looking for that and the natilla.
Hi! I'm a Canadian living in Alajuela Costa Rica! I love your vids! Would love to travel with you!
