I received my Leshiy 2 in September 2022 ... 350mm barrel in .177 calibre. My gun was fitted with the latest designed forward plug. I installed a digital gauge on the regulator... then set the regulator to 60bar... shooting JSB heavy 10.34 grain from 275bar down to 60bar on the main resevoir gave me 160 shots at full power. Average of 11.3ftlb over the entire shot string..... jets fitted in the forward plug were x2 1.2mm as is standard when Edgun set them up for sub 12ftlb UK. I also left the full puk in as well.
Keep the number of the washers in place, just change the spring ratio stack. I have achieved some success with this method and really low reg pressures The two new pieces were put in place because of efficiency, remember every gun is a detuned 30 caliber, so the parts were added for the lower calibers, not sub 12. The new 177/22 valve still produces north of 900 FPS with an 18 grain I understand the idea behind reducing the plenum sizes but the valve is able to leave volume in the plenum, with the larger plenums, there is just not enough dwell time to dump the whole thing. After the US patient is finalized you'll be able to read the abstract from the USPO, Great video!
I have a matador in sub 12 that was very accurate but when coming of reg it was spiking to above 14ftlb!! Prison sentence in the UK. We tryed all sorts of combinations to solve the problem, Huma regulator fitted with a plenum plug and although it stopped the power spike it was no longer accurate. The edgun regulator was put back set at 90 Barr and 85% of the plenum plugged, this solved the problem and the gun is now super accurate with a better shot count. The problem with the sub 12 law is the slightest adjustment can make so much difference to the guns performance.
Thanks Brian good info, stack orientation and Belleville thickness are on my radar for the reg, I was going to replace it for a Huma, but I don't think its really required. Reducing plenum size is just one of the ways we trick the rifles into behaving for sub 12 use, and while its not ideal it does help raise reg pressures, and give us a little more control of whats happening with the power. The valves an interesting design, think I got it figured out now, but ill keep and eye out for the patient, and see how close I got. Thanks for watching. 👍
@@edgunwestLLC what I'm getting at is when the guns are detuned for sub 12 there can be problems with spiking not only with the matador but L1 and the L2 also , the L2 is far to complicated for little old me😂😂
@@philbate5555 spike Occurs because the volume of the Plenum is too high and the valve dwell time is being restricted by pressure. When the pressure is relieved from the top of the valve vis-à-vis the Plenum pressure goes below the regulator pressure the valves allowed to move more increasing dwell time. This is the reason why you see a spike on a traditional poppet hammer spring design.
I 3d printed a copy of the parts in Eds video and have been testing them all week. Like you, I was expecting the collar to benefit sub12 by dropping the power, however I'm seeing increases in power. My setup was running at 11.7ftlb with 70 bar on reg, after fitting the 3 of 8 collar I was at 11.7 with 50bar without any other changes. I also made what I thought would be a sub12 collar with 1 of 8 ports unblanked instead of just 3 of 8 in Eds video, this put the power up even more. I found the effect of the dog bones varied a lot depending on setup but agree I think they are acting as fillers to adjust the effect of the jets.
Thank you very much Dave for sharing, you helped me quite a bit with this post, I had 2 theories of what was going to happen by installing the collar and you proved one theory correct, what the collar is doing is funneling the air through the valve since there is less volume for the pressurized air to expand into more pressure is directly applied to the back of the pellet, increasing FPS without any altering any other factors, so a little dead end for the other theory but I have a direction to go in now. Thanks for sharing.

Geoff, there's a topic thread running over on AGN on using an FX STX barrel with the Leishy 2. Looks like it could use some input from you on the possibility of a custom transfer port for the conversion. Interested?
I saw that, quite a novel idea, I would think the poly FX barrel would be quite good for a L2 because of the way the pellet leads into the barrel, ill have a look into it. Thanks for watching.
Aside from Ed and Brian's channels. You're literally the only Edgun channel worth following. The other channels are run by low IQ yahoo's in my opinion. You're actually doing productive things, not just shooting squirrels and pigeons. Thanks.
