This video got me thinking, you can sound much more like a native just by getting into the habit of using “get” almost for everything. Cool, but….
…even if it’s true that using “get” makes you sound more colloquial, being able to use verbs, especially phrasal verbs, which are specifically meant for a certain context, gives you a leg up in terms of storytelling capabilities. An example might be handy:
    1. “Get domination”: yesterday I needed to get a couple of things at the mall so I got in the car. As I was about to start it, a red light flashing on the dashboard, got my attention. I got mad, since I got my car fixed only a week ago exactly for this reason…and it wasn’t cheap at all. That got me thinking: “did they even get anything right in that dealership?”
    2. Phrasal verbs/specific verbs: yesterday I had to pick up a couple things at the mall, so I hopped into my car. As I was about to start it, a red light flashing on the dashboard caught my attention. That drove me up to the wall, since they were supposed to fix it last week…and it wasn’t cheap at all. A thought crossed my mind then: “did they ever follow through on what they say in that dealership?”
Bottom line: use get as much as you like, but master also other kind of verbs, in particular, phrasal verbs.

    Hi Thiago,
    I hope you're doing well.
In the sentence "the party got crazy", instead of meaning "Was" coud be "Become" as well?
