  • You may not have ever heard of them, but back in the eighties and nineties, there was this little-known indie rock band called Guns and Roses that had a few minor hits. Of course, I'm kidding. G'n'R has sold roughly a quadrillion records in their band's lifetime, due in no small part to the considerable skill of their lead guitarist: Slash. Few guitarists are as iconic as Slash, and his signature licks are staples of just about every budding guitarist's repertoire.
After Guns & Roses scored a huge hit with their cover of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door," Slash had a problem. He needed a 12-string sound for the verses live, but he also needed a six-string to play his blistering solos. Rather than attempt a guitar switch mid-song, he asked his guitar tech to find him a suitable double-neck. Somehow, his tech managed to find him a '66 EDS-1275 in a small shop in rural Indiana, and the rest is history. Slash would go on to rock the doubleneck prominently for the rest of his career.
Now, the Gibson Custom Shop has added that delectable doubleneck to the stable of iconic Slash signature models. These guitars have nitrocellulose lacquer finishes that have been aged to look just like the original model, and they have an immense amount of vibe as a result. Though it may be hard to believe, their bodies are made of a single lightweight piece of mahogany for maximum resonance and back-muscle assistance. Both necks have a comfortable authentic '66 medium C shape, and they come equipped with Alnico III Custombuckers so these guitars are a joy to play and hear.
We're proud to present the Slash EDS-1275 Doubleneck for our exceptional customers! We know they'll help you work up an appetite for destruction!

Great playing as usual another fun thing you can do with them is set the selector for just the 12 string side turn up and play on the six string side. I would do that with mine back in the 70s very ethereal. I bet through some of the delays and reverbs they have now it would be even cooler.

Great playing as always! If only I could get an SG with those neck measurements (.900 1st -.950 9th (6-String)) and no headstock dive!

Funny to think that this double neck weighs less than some Norlin-era Les Pauls.

I heard the truss rods are already maxed out on these high end custom models. Dissapointing if true.
