It’s amazing to see them looking for the words to express their thoughts. “Big After” and “Love You Other” were great solutions. Otter seems a little disappointed that Shannon wont be coming for a long time and Bunny is missing Dad - right now!! They did a wonderful job conveying their feelings. ❤❤❤

I think when he said "Big after," he was saying later is too long! Because you said "Shannon later," and he said "Big after," "NOW! Now!" He was saying "THAT'S TOO LONG!!! I want to see her now!"
I also think Bunny has such complex thoughts for a dog, considering past existential questions she has asked, that she was asking more than just for dad this morning. I think she was asking where is it that Dad would rather be than here? Why does he always go in the morning. "Where want other love you other Dad morning?" She probably smells other people on him from his being around maybe the same other people with work all the time, most days when he goes somewhere that she doesn't know he's around the same smelling people she doesn't know, and she wonders why are they not part of your family, your pack here at home, so she thinks he must love and want to be around these other people, too. Probably very confusing that he leaves all the time and smells like these same other people when he comes back. She may even be jealous like she and Otter feel about each other sometimes when one is getting scritches and loves. But I think even when you told her Dad home later and she said "Now, now." She wasn't just saying she wants him now, she was asking, "Yes, but where is he now?" Because of course she doesn't understand the concept of "Work," that's just a word you often use to say where Dad is but doesn't explain anything to her.
It would be reeeally interesting to see if you can use words and teach her more words that would help her understand the concept of work. Maybe first teach her "trade." Tell her "Come learn word trade." Then give her something like ball and you have a treat and say "Bunny have ball, mom want ball. Mom have treat, Bunny want treat. Mom give Bunny treat and Bunny give Mom ball." Then switch them and say, "That's trade. Mom trade Bunny treat for ball. Bunny trade Mom ball for treat." Then maybe do 2 different balls and say, "Here's another trade. Bunny has blue ball; mom want blue ball. Mom has red ball; Bunny want red ball. Mom give Bunny red ball if Bunny give mom blue ball. We trade different color balls," and switch them again. Repeat such exercises until she gets the idea of trade. Then you could begin explaining that humans trade help for each other. Dad goes work; help other humans work friends look for, find, get things they need. Then other human's trade help for Dad for love you family. Other humans work friends trade Dad help for food because Dad help work friends. Dad trade help other human work friends for toys for Bunny. Dad trade help work friends for medicine for Bunny's tummy ouch. Dad trade help other work friends for things Mom want, things Dad want, things Otter want. That's how Dad work, help family. Work is trade help for other humans and then other humans also trade help for Dad family. Tell her when Mom and Dad take Bunny to Vet doctor for tummy ouch, doctor give medicine to help Bunny. That is human vet doctor's work. Doctor leaves doctor's family at doctor's home for morning part of day and trades big helps for many families ouch feel better; then doctor vet goes back home after work to doctor's home & doctor's family in evening, same as when Dad come home from work. Then when doctor vet's family needs help, other humans trade help to doctor vet human's family at doctor's home, for food and other things doctor vet's family want. That's work. That's help each other. That's trade good things. I bet she will eventually kind of get it. She's soooo smart! Then maybe it won't bother her so much when Dad has to leave. Because Dad works to help families so those humans help Bunny's family. Big good trade!!!

i feel this dog is actually know that he/she is a dog her/him self and also thinks "why?" its already at the level of a human that is atleast 13 - 14 knowledge. Which dogs have the knowledge of a 5 - 7. He/she has a pretty good memory by itself and tries to tell the owner that there is a stranger inside of the house if, try to talk to her in simplified sentences and i reccommend asking questions and also try to understand the dog.

OMG I LOVE BUNNY!!! I look forward to weekly Bunny fixes! My 6 year old Goldendoodle just got buttons for xmas but she is struggling to push the buttons! We taught her the word 'touch' to have her come to us on command and now when I tell her touch for the buttons, she very lightly touches the button with her nose just like when we call her back to us at a park, etc. HOW in the world do I get her to use her paw? She is a ball fanatic (retriever and all) so one button is ball and she is REALLY trying but can't push it hard enough! I'm stumped!

I've had dogs for forty years, and trained my Service Dogs, so I offer this. I think you're going to have to assign another word for Come, like 'Come' (what you called "touch") and model for her with your foot or hand, showing her her own paw, to "push" the *_Fluent Pet_* buttons. Because possible anatomy training down the road means the words "foot/paw" must be literal in meaning, as are most words like push, pull, carry, get, catch, fetch, etc. If you model for her the meaning of the word Push, by pushing a number of items with your hand/foot, and push the buttons too, then she can see the meaning of the word, that way you can use it in numerous contexts. Don't assign the word Push only to the buttons because you may want that word for other situations in the future. I would model the meaning in numerous ways so she understands and can apply it to the buttons, making it clear to her that she's to use her foot/paw. 'Touch' is the wrong word that doesn't imply pushing, and simply touching the buttons doesn't activate them. Working with dogs means learning to be *_very literal,_* until sophistication of thought enters in later on for relative terms like More, Later, Soon, etc. To make a word change when she already knows a word, like "touch" for Come, I have put the old and new words in tandem for the transition phase, and as she adapts to the tandem-use (giving her praise), then one drops off the former word to only use the new, again with praise. Always consider meanings and what you're working to accomplish, like that she'll have to actually Push the button, and that touching isn't enough. 🤗 Just as you would show your child how to do something, you would take her paw, pushing down on the button, while saying "Push," but only after you've modeled the word by pushing numerous items, so she understands the principle. It's the meaning that's crucial, not simply a command, so you all can use that word in the future on other things should the need arise. Dogs can understand quite well, we just need to model meanings to make it clear. Remember that while modeling the meaning, we are saying aloud the word we're defining with our action. We could Push a toy or a book while saying "Push." 😊

@@cacatr4495 Thank you for your recommendation. We put Bleu thru a training course when she was 6 mos and they are the ones who told us come is not good because it's used in our language all the time. They gave us touch, look, dont (versus no) etc. I will try to change touch now because Bleu learns at lightning speed but is not comprehending this one. So again thank you!

      @@VivienneRussell
I added to my reply, so you might want to check it. 🤗 Dogs also understand context, so when we use the same word with others or in conversation, they know it's not for them. Dogs don't get confused when we use the word Come in other contexts. Being literal is *_very important,_* as dogs are literal thinkers. It won't make sense to her and will only frustrate when touching doesn't activate the buttons. A far better word, is 'Press' as in Press Down, as pushing usually involves lateral movement, which the buttons don't have. You might not have to model that with other objects, as pressing is a rare activity for a dog. I hope this helps you both. I'm certain she's wonderful!

@@cacatr4495WOW! I can't thank you enough. Bleu is the most intelligent AND connecting dog I have ever had and I've had lots. Our trainer said she was a perfect candidate for a service dog (I'm disabled) but we didn't pursue it. I KNOW we can give her language with buttons as long as we humans can be smart enough to figure it out! I get it now and I'm very grateful to you for taking the time to educate me (and my husband) on what we need to do. I feel confident now that Bleu will be able to do this!

I tried to look up homes for sale in Washington but all I get are homes where the backyard leads to or is directly on a beach. This I can get in NJ but I really do not want to deal with all the hurricane action we have.

I wonder is bunny self aware and has a consciousness and in her mind questions why does the universe exists or what is the meaning of life and can think freely about anything like humans or maybe she is not self aware but instead your shaping how dogs evolve and paving the way for another high intelligence being on planet earth with self awareness of everything going on and is consciousness being able to rival human beings in intelligence. Very far fetched i know but impossible no. I personally think the next animal to evolve consciousness would be the octopus species
