If you're auditioning for Dora the you should sing Does anybody have a map from Dear Evan Hansen
XxsofifoxX Sofifo omg whyyy... 😒 but still lol
XxsofifoxX Sofifo oMG
me lmao
this is amazing I'm crying
Imagine if Dora came a musical
I have an audition in a month or so, and I'm auditioning for a very cheery but sad character. SO IM GONNA GO LIFEBOAT FROM HEATHERS!
A A Apple I love that song!
A A Apple same!!
I'm also going to audition with that song! It's such a good song! 😀❤️
A A Apple perfect
Cool
Im auditioning for Wednesday in "The Addams Family" so I'm going to do "Meant to be Yours" from Heathers
the big halo fan oh my god
That’s great but I don’t think that song is great for auditions. I’m sorry if you disagree with me, but it’s intense and it’s meant for a male voice. I would recommend something like legally blonde (the song) or even lifeboat from heathers.
I saw Book of Mormon in the thumbnail aaaand now I'm here instead of doing homework oOPS
Same I love that musical!!
I have to audition for my school play via video in the next two days for the junior version of orphan Annie (yeah I know, junior version. imao I hate them, because most of them are rushed and halfassed, but what can I do?) anyway to keep up with the orphan theme, I'm gunna audition with Orphaned at 33.
UPDATE: I actually unfortunately had to change songs because I was told that if I wanted a serious part, I needed a more serious song, so I went with Middle of a Moment. Luckily I got a callback and was asked to sing at the audition showcase!! ( the day after I come back from late vacation which will be stressful because I already missed 2 weeks of school and I have to catch up. Oh well) wish me luck!!😁
ANOTHER UPDATE!!!
She forgot to cast me. I'm not even being dramatic, I wasn't on the cast list, nor the attendance she and when I performed at the Audition Showcase, she said and I quote: Oh, sorry I forgot you auditioned.
Evening someone dropped out and I got the part as Kate with a whopping four (speak or sing alone) lines.
So far this year, no one has noticed me, no one had care, I've been bossed around by 13 year old first years who think they're the shit and love being in charge, I've been treated like I wasn't even there, just like all the other people who had been in the PREVIOUS play. It's gotten to the point I get panic attack just think about Annie, and I now have borderline insomnia because every time I try to sleep I see Annie Rehearsals.
But here's the kicker. My friend who is in her last year had the part as Pepper and while that may sound all nice, listen to this!!! SHE WAS IN ALL OF THE HIGH SCHOOL PLAYS SINCE SHE WAS A FRESHMAN, ALL SHE EVER WANTED WAS A LEAD AND WHEN THE OPPORTUNITY FINALLY CAME SHE WAS CAST AS A ORPHAN!! Pepper is a good part, but she deserved more.
Here's the thing about my high school. We *went* by the rule of seniority. Seniors first then the others to be fair to the seniors, however this year that rule went out the window and now we have a shirt ton of mean 13 year old girls as the leads and every other person who has been in Drama was cast as a background character.
So year this year it going great for me.
Acedia Occhiolism from twisted? Goals tbh
Hope it went well!!!!!
That’s so cool! l was Pepper in Annie Junior!!
I'm so sorry that happened to you! Just remember to take every opportunity you get and be the best you can be. People might notice you and give you a bigger role in the future.
Acedia Occhiolism So. In my last play I had gotten the lead but this year I GOT FRICKEN MRS.PUGH!! I CRIED MUPY EYES OUT EVERYTIME SOMEONE SAID I WASN’T GOOD ENOUGH. I hate The junior musicals like why
Amy, when you're famous and have over a million subs, please don't forget me. :')
me too
qoIden-knife me too!!
me too!!
oh wait.... hahaha!!!! Ahh 1 million?! Could you even imagine?!
What about Shrek? Should I do All Star??? jk me and my friend are going to do the mom part from anybody have a map.
Audition songs that got me the part:
"Windy City" from Calamity Jane for the role of Annie Oakley in Annie Get Your Gun (They are pretty much the same shows!)
"Never Never Land" from Peter Pan for the role of the Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (This song has a wonderful "I have a story to tell you" quality if sung and acted correctly.)
You're hair looks so nice !! also I really like your videos, you're just so fun to listen to I always enjoy what you upload
Aww thank you9 Zoe! That means so much to me!!!!!!!
This really helps! Thanks! And I can't wait until you get those 10,000 subscribers I hope you get them!
So glad! And we got there!!!! Thank yo so much for your support!!!
Please
Tell me what shampoo and conditioner you use
Oh goodness... literally anything... never the same kind... I'm so low maintenance with my hair products! Sorry that's not helpful at all!!!!!
The fact that brings me the most pain in life is that I can sing Waving through the window perfectly EXCEPT FOR THE FREAKING CLIMAX You know what I'm talking about. Like, the "Is anybody waving? WAVIN' WAVIN' OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH" It's so close to my range yet so far. I am emo.
😂
When you thought your go to audition song was original then you read these comments
Great minds think alike don't they
Back off my audition songs
I'm trying to be original >:V
I'm just kidding but
I am auditioning for my high school musical production and am probably going to do requiem or kindergarten boyfriend because they don't announce the musical until after the auditions are done so wish me luck(don't actually it's in several months I just like planning way ahead for auditions)
Good luck! You'll be awesome xxxx
Falkreath guard It's been 7 months so... how did it go?
Falkreath guard as
There was a boy I met in kindergarten.
C. H. He was sweet he said that I was smart
I'm not even auditioning for anything.
I just really like your voice. And musicals.
Not even kidding the musical was announced today this came at a great time.
Amazing!!!!!
The original 10 audition songs to avoid video was why I subbed! Loved the comedy & how lovely you are!
Aww I'm so glad! Thank you Beatrice!!! x
My go to has got to be freeze your brain. It's my perfect range!!! I'm an alto and it's hard to find a song that I can sing without going too low or too high. I'm working on my range but right now freeze your brain is perfect!
That's actually what I was considering singing, do you think it'll be ok even though I'm well, not a dude
I've been through ten high schools, they start to get blurry..
Why is there a dislike??? Who??
Suga daddy they thought the video was too short
IKR?!?! hahahhaa
Your amazing ilysm
Awwww thank you love!
Amy Lovatt Your Welcome And Everything I Said Was True
Following these tips, that rules out most female songs because haha, I'm an alto and most musical songs sung by females are songs meant for sopranos. So this is my list:
-Waving Through a Window
-You Will Be Found
-Words Fail
-Good For You (all parts)
-Sincerely, Me
-Don't Lose Ur Head
-Get Down
-Dead Girl Walking (reprise and original. If I really try and work at it before the audition, I can hit the highs)
-Candy Store
-Michael In The Bathroom
-Once Upon A December
I'm auditioning for a loud, arrogant, star-of-the-show girl, so I'm doing Candy Store >_
I love this and I love your hair!!
For someone who has gone in for an audition yet, this is super helpful! Thanks Amy ☺️
PS. Your eye make up is 🔥🔥
I'm auditioning for In The Heights and they want a rock song for the audition and I have no idea what to do :( I'm an alto and there are no rock songs for altos
jellybeansushi omg thank you I love u :) I think I might do Kt Tunstall?! I've been singing her stuff since I was 13 and she's never let me down so far!
Shannon Stuart Ooooh yeah! That's be a good one! Something like black horse and a cherry tree that gets down to the nitty gritty. :)
jellybeansushi that's what I was going do! That's like "my song" if you know what I mean
Bat outta hell maybe?
Try something from We Will Rock You the musical (Songs by Queen) x
love this video! really stuck on finding a song for my audition for Hairspray
This is wonderful! ❤️
Yay thank you Evie! x
Hey, Amy! I absolutely love your videos, and this one has definitely helped me a whole lot when I'm auditioning for stuff.
Oh amazing!!!! Thank you so much beautiful x
Omg i sooo needed this i'm auditioning for my school musical soon like omg
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!!!
Thank YOU for watching!!!!!
This video is so useful for me! I can never decide what song to audition with, this is helping me so much!
I'm so glad to have helped!!!
I sang Defying Gravity for my school's production of Legally Blonde, and I somehow got in with a minor role. And I forgot a part when I sang. I'm still not sure how that worked out, but...
That’s how I found you!! I’m not even into theatre but I just really like you 😂 I don’t know why I’m not I love going to musicals that I know, they just weren’t really something that was around when I grew up 🤷🏼♀️
Aww thank you!
The thing about all your (awesome) videos is I always just sit here wishing I was talented enough to dive into the musical theatre performing world... and yet I can’t stop watching them anyway lmao
I'm a boy, and my voice doesn't suit many male songs because it's quite high😂 but loads of female musical theatre songs, so I was wondering if you knew any that was quite high male? X
Ben Wilson songs from the musical Oliver are pretty high
Giants in the sky maybe?
Or anything from dogfight really
Ben Platt bro. Have you heard Words Fail?
Do "Corner of the Sky" from "Pippin" I have the same problem but this song was my saviour.
"I don't know if you know-" *Lifts up boobs* "-I'm a woman." XD
I'm auditioning for a local group next week, and after a lot of deliberation, I decided to go with one of my go-to audition songs which is Home from Wonderland. Even though the character is too young for me, I can sing it fairly easily and it's a nice song. I figured since I'm not going for a specific part it would be a good song to do☺️
You’re a life saver I’m going to audition for a uni in September and I’m stressing to find a song and your video help me a lot
ooh best of luck for your audition and so glad it helped!
Hi Amy! I am a huge fan of your videos and I think you are the most adorable and talented singers that gives the best advice and critiques out there. I am a male and I have an audition coming up soon for Shrek the Musical and I hope to get the part of Pinocchio but I’m not sure what audition song to use since it’s a really high falsetto part. I’ve thought about Falsettoing the ending of “King of the World” from “Songs for A New World” but I’m not too sure.
HI! Aww thank you Troy! I would say maybe something from Honk or maybe Purpose from Avenue Q or some other cute songs with a lot of character - I think King of the World would be good though!
my favourite song to sing is meant to be yours from heathers or popular from wicked
My go-to audition songs currently are Lifeboat from Heathers and Young Fiona’s part in I Know It’s Today from Shrek because I’m a young teen soprano✌🏻
Same! Those are my go to songs and I'm 10
I am a male soprano and have a hard time finding songs that are not female songs (since i feel most auditioners seem to frown upon it. Any Suggestions ( i belt and also can sing very high notes like in my white knight from the music man). thank you for your help.
this helped me by singing waving through a window for a school audition and getting to sing solos in 2 songs and a duet so i'm happy
also i was 11 and i sung with a 14 year old and got solos in songs where older kids got solos, then the next year i had a cold and we did an actual musical and more people auditioned so i got a very small part lol, i think they hate my acting even though the musical director is my drama teacher and i get A+ every time
I love your hair in this video
The songs i would do if i were auditioning for something (planning on auditioning for the next community theatre show heh) would probably be good for you or seventeen if from a musical or if not something by ptv or sws cause i can match their voices pretty well XD
Hi Amy have you ever done a top 10 favourite musicals video? Because if so I can't find it Xx
I did my 5 favourite musicals, but it was a while ago and it's changed so think I might film that this week! xx
I can *nail* Meant to Be Yours from Heathers, so I think I'll use that one
the rules for our musical auditions at school are sing a song from the character you're going for. Ie: for Zombie prom. if you wanted to go for Eddie Flagrante(The Newspaper reporter) you wouldn't sing "easy to say"(Sung by toffee) or if you were going for Candy, you wouldn't sing "how can I say goodbye to love". (one of Jonny's songs)
I have a solo or duet audition tomorrow so this is gonna be super helpful
Yay!
Aaand I didn"t get it
I totally figured out the acting part the hard way. I was going to sing hopelessly devoted to you from grease for my high school musical but I got sick at the last minute. So I changed a day before to new girl in town from hairspray to try and go the acting route. Luckily we were doing Little mermaid and they totally loved it. I’m pretty shy and I got a callback as a sophomore, then got cast as a mersister which was exactly what I wanted. And even recently my orchestra teacher who was in the room complemented me on the audition. My advice to high schoolers is that teachers NEED good actors. Overall more people can sing than act so make that a priority
Ok there's going to be an audition on our school... And it's going to be in 2 days. I need this!!!
Hi Amy! I am auditioning for the role of Mulan in Mulan Jr soon, and don't know what to sing! I watched the video, but am still unsure! Please help!
Awesome video honey! I'm auditioning for a uni production of Sister Act - I have a more classical musical theatre (r&h) type voice with a mezzo-y tone but soprano range so am thinking of going for the Mother Superior but as not sure what to sing. Any suggestions? Thank you so much - love your channel! 💞
Hmmm.... difficult one! Maybe something quite literal like a mother superior song from Sound of Music?? Sorry not very helpful I don't think :/ Good luck!!!!!!
Thank you so much - very helpful! I think i'll definitely go with that! Congrats on 10k by the way!!! :) xxx
I really like to audition with sad songs like It’s Quiet Uptown or really angry songs like Burn, because I can really get into the song and act it well.
I am a boy ( or am i? ) and I want to audition for a school play. Would Dear Evan Hasen be good to pick songs for or is that to predictable
It's not that it is 'predictable' but you may find other people singing songs from it which can be difficult with competition etc! x
okay thank you! I really like Come From Away and i kind of want to do my own take on Stop The World from the show
SOS I'm auditioning for the wiz this fall, what song should i sing? i will be auditioning for two rolls, Dorothy and scarecrow(the directors said they may play it as a girl so ya know why not). I'm a mezzo-soprano but i can hit lower and higher notes with practice. i would reallllly appreciate some help!!! thanks!
Hi Amy, I’m auditioning for Cabaret and I was just wondering if you have any suggestions for what I could sing? Thank you so much I love your channel!
Sang dear theodosia (Hamilton) and somehow got the cat in suessical
Hey Amy! I was wondering if you knew any good musical theatre songs for altos.
Omg i start a new theater group on the 25th of this month and im SO FRIGHTENED
Oml tysm!!!💜
You'll be amazing! I'll be thinking of you and sending all my good thoughts! Think of it as an opportunity to meet new people who love the same thing as you and you might make some new friends!!
I'm switching back to advanced choir soon and I know I need to audition, I think I'll do something energetic but still calm, hallelujah maybe?
my friend actually sang waving through a window for our talent show...
My go to audition songs are "Run Away With Me" from The unauthorised autobiography of Samantha Brown (which is now The Mad Ones) or "Watch What Happens" from Newsies because I can make both of them serious or comical
Two of my all time favourite songs!!!!
I’m auditioning for the housemaid from Mary poppins this spring, and I️ was thinking of singing adaliades lament from guys and dolls because they both have those character nasally voices. Is that a good pick? If not, please give suggestions
I'm auditioning for my school's music progam and I'm singing words fail or The Games I play!!
I️ am auditioning for Once on this Island and I️ need an upbeat solo that is for an alto girl, any ideas?
Subscribed!!!!
thanks!
Hi Amy big fan// I am 14 and stuck with what musical theatre songs to sing for an audition any suggestions...
I've been watching a lot of videos of this type because I'm going to be applying and auditioning for colleges very soon.
I hope it all goes well. Good luck! x
I'd probably audition for Veronica with 'There's a fine fine line' because I always get so strong during that song and am so 'I wish I could but... This is too far...HOLD THE FUCK UP'
Such an awesome song!
Okay so here is the thing... I found a lower key of watch what happens and I love it so much. It’s very hard as a alto 2ish ranged person to find songs that fit perfectly right off the bat and I think I can do this one... however it is in a lower key and that is something you said to never do, so the question is what do I do?
I’m auditioning for my high school production of Les Mis in January. My drama teacher told me that because the show is all singing, we will be doing two songs instead of one. She also recommended doing songs that are different from each other to showcase different parts of our range. For my more serious song I’m considering Burn from Hamilton, because it fits my range and I’m comfortable singing it. I am having trouble finding other songs that would be appropriate to audition with and would appreciate any suggestions! I’m assigned alto in my SSA choir but my teacher has told me I could also be a mezzo soprano with my range. If you have any songs you think might work for me please let me know :)
Hey, i am a teenage male who is auditioning for a school musical (we do pretty semi-professional school musicals) of "We Will Rock You". I have a fairly large tenor range and was wondering if you had any suggestions for what i could sing. this video gave me some goo ideas, but i was wondering what you think since you seem to know a lot about this =)
Let's say I want to audition for Bernardo on West Side Story. I am a 17 years old, tenor latino; what should I sing?
(I speak spanish, too. Should I use that?)
Hey girl!! What would I use to audition for Into The Woods? I am really aiming for Little Red. Anyway examples?? The audition is the second week of September. Thanks! ~ Ash❤️
Im auditioning for Marian from The Music Man, I'm singing goodnight my someone, but what should I sing for my other song? (Alto-Soprano range)
Im auditioned for Heathers next weekk which song should i pick ? Should i pick Candy Store ?
Im auditioning for madam thenardier for les mis. Is worst pies in london for Sweeney todd a good audition song?
What about Katie from School of Rock? I need a good song for the audition video. Please help!
that theatre jen Sing a sassy song from Matilda!
I'm auditioning for just ensemble role in beauty and the beast. Any song recommendations?
I'm female and alto 1 and sometimes (depending on the song) I can sing mezzo-soprano. I know songs best from Hamilton, Heathers, DEH, Hairspray, Annie, West Side Story, The Sound of Music and Grease.
This is irrelevant the audition is also on my 12th birthday which is ironic I guess 😂
Ayy thanks
What should I sing for my Aladdin audition I’m auditioning to be the genie
I'm auditioning for some theatre schools in London and I need some help choosing a song so do you have any tips on choosing a song? I'm a baritone/tenor!
Don't know if I've missed anything, but have you seen The Book of Mormon? I'm going to see it in October, so excited!
I LOVE BOM!!!! I've seen it quite a few times - Gavin Creel was so amazing as Price!!!
Hi amy I rlly hope u see this because I’ve been OBSESSED with your account for quite awhile now, Im really starting to like musical theatre and I’m way new so I just wanted to see if you could maybe recommend some songs from musicals I could listen to because I am starting to give interest into the arts// also ilysmmm💞
aww thank you Gemma! I did a video called the best songs in musical theatre - that could be a good place to start with some recommendations!! xx
Amy Lovatt omg!! Thank you so much, I’ll watch it rn💞💗
I have a video audition to film soon. I want to do I Love Play Rehearsal from Be More Chill, but I’m hesitant to do it because Be More Chill is so popular, but Christine Canigula fits my casting type extremely well. Should I go with I Love Play Rehearsal or does anyone have any songs that are similar?
i'm auditioning for joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat in like, a month or two (not very picky about the part i want and since i'm younger i'm probably not going to get a big role) what songs would y'all recommend me to audition with? i'm considering something from SA, maybe mama who bore me or something.
Hey Amy, I love all of your videos you posted... I've been watched since your first Hamilton videos a while back. I have a question for ya, have you ever watched or listened to this new musical Amelie starring Phillipa Soo, Eliza from Hamilton? It's based off the movie with the same title and I'm obsessed with this play. Please take a look at it, I think you would like it if you've never seen it!
Aww thank you Savannah! I haven't seen much of it to be honest - I've seen little clips on RUclips, I just need to get around to listening to the cast album. I love Phillipa so I'm sure i'll love it just as much!
Any great suggestions for altos? I'm an alto and finding a good audition song is my internal struggle
Holly Potter im an alto also and so far what I have Breathe from in the heights, Your Daddy's son from Ragtime, Requiem from dear even Hanson, a few songs from waitress and also a few from Spring Awakening
Depends on the musical really
The Dark I know well from Spring Awakening.
Is Me and the Sky alto or is that soprano?
Lifeboat works. So does shine a light reprise.
i screwed up my school audition for mary poppins because of my nerves how do i stop my nerves from getting the better of my audition
YOOO I GOT BIRD WOMAN
FEEEEEED THE BIRDS
what did people sing that got in? i’m auditioning for that play next week
I’m auditioning for west side story what should I sing
Hi Amy, great video, thank you. So in regards Dear Evan Hansen, you mention "waving through a window" a couple of times... I was thinking of having that or "For Forever" in my rep. Do you believe it's over done now and shouldn't be used in auditions? Many thanks xxx
Hey! I would suggest trying to avoid it to be honest as it is best to sing songs not currently on Broadway! It's annoying though - I totally understand! x
Thanks a lot for your opinion Amy! x
I just auditioned for Gertrude in Seuss with Summer in Ohio from L5Y
What would you suggest taking to an audition for ensemble of Les Miserables? X
I'm auditioning for Newsies to be in the ensemble, but I'm not sure what to sing. I was going to do "watch what happens" and the beginning of "seize the day", but I'm told that I shouldn't do songs from the show I'm auditioning for...
Hello! I am planning on auditioning for the part of Beatrice Bottom in my school’s production of Something Rotten. I can’t think of any audition songs that would fit. Do you have any suggestions?
Introverted Insomniac Sing something that shows you are a leader. Bea is definitely a strong independent person. Sing something that showcases that.
Do you suggest singing a Disney song for a professional or amateur audition? I kind of want to sing Almost There for a school production
I think it depends on the production and the suitability of the song. If Disney is the same style as the show you are auditioning for then I think go for it!
I'm auditioning for Mary Poppins...so unfamiliar with the roles and the music so I'm lost on what to do. I can go up to (excluding super-high notes) soprano 1, and as low as alto 1. Any suggestions???
I’m doing an audition for pirates and the curry bean for school and I need a song and fast for next Wednesday
Auditioning for the Major in Pirates of Penzance soon, any ideas for a baritone?
I'm auditioning for Sister Act in October and I have NOOOO clue what to sing! I'm auditioning for either Mary Robert or Mary Patrick!
Oh awesome! Go for something sweet, that shows an innocence. Would be awesome if you could get something that then has a switch a shows a feisty side as well!!!
