Cast was amazing in Dwd, there was lack of Rehearsals and bad script too. The only thing that makes you guys watch the movie is bcoz of Harry y'all don't even know what the movie is really about (theme). The only thing I hate with the directors of this movie is that they talk bout how good Harry was instead of talking bout the film and what's about.
@@atiniluko8231 Honestly yeah dwd has a nice cast (not better than MP tho), yes I watched it because of Harry, cause I don't really like Wilde's work, and I was kinda dissapointed. What was its whole point? I love how invested they all are in the story. I think that’s one of the reasons it was so brilliant. And they all understood how important it was, unlike so many crappy films that are made simply for the money.
I watched it yesterday and I am watching it right now again. I am exactly on the part where Patrick is being beaten in the prison’s cell and can’t even describe the feelings. How sad…. I didn't fully understand the journey that this film was going to take me on. It does a phenomenal job of reflecting the pain behind a love story that can only live freely in the dark. It was really heartbreaking and beautifully executed. The film agitates change exquisitely.
This is the best behind the scenes i've ever seen. They somehow managed to make even the bts emotional and full of meaning. Also Dvid Dawson it's my true love, he was freaking amazing, harry and emma too, all 6 of them tbh, loved it, thank you. You all brought to life my favourite book
I had already read the book prior to watching the movie and I gotta say. As a bookworm AND a movie enthusiast, they did an amazing job of setting the book up in the film the way they did. There were a few things they didn’t include and before it came out I was actually wondering how they’re were going to tell the story because it’s pretty complex in the book, but overall I can say I love how it stuck to actual plot all throughout and how it was told. It all makes sense 👏
What a beautifully heart-wrenching film. Truly can become a "classic." David Dawson is superb and Harry is a thrill to watch bring Tom's complex character to life. I have never sobbed in a film as much I did during its' premiere.
It was such a great movie. Everyone did such a great job portraying the story. It's sad and a good thing that the younger generations will never truly understand why Tom was the way he was. Even though discrimination is still around it is more acceptable than what it was back then or even when I was a teenager. Everyone involved should be very proud for a job well done.
I finished watching the film and I made a sea of tears, without a doubt the story is very good, it makes you connect with its characters, hate them or get to feel some empathy for them, I loved it
This movie is actually really good!! The cast did an amazing jobs portraying all these complex emotions!! I’m proud of them especially Harry whom i’ve been a fan of since i was 12 and i’m now 23. Watching him grow in both his music career and acting career is amazing…
the movie the cast the production the plot aggregate everything is perfect watching the movie you feel like you are part of the action of the emotion just perfect flawless
A brilliant, heart wrenching movie. I recommend everyone to check out the book too, I read it first and the movie only made me fall in love with the story more. Beautifully done, and I love that everyone involved in the making of the movie is really there for the right reasons. Will be rewatching again.
Just watched early this AM. Beautifully done. So bittersweet yet hopeful. The director is amazing. The acting is sublime. Harry who plays young Tom, David who plays young Patrick, and Gina who plays the older Marion, are particularly captivating in the way they speak and relate physically with the other characters and the way they gaze. I love the use of light and tint/shadow to hold us in different emotions and kind of frame the joy or despair or hope within a particular time period or scene. I love the themes that help carry us between past and present because it made for great no chronological story telling without leaving the viewer lost. I really hate when movies jump between past and present without a carry through because its hard to follow, but this director used specific objects (a journal and artwork) and a violin to do so and it worked really well. The chemistry between Tom and Patrick is amazing. From the steamy romance, to the dreamy romance, to just little things everywhere that really set a clear tone of the tension between desire and secrecy. A surprising amount of solid love carrying through everywhere was somehow accomplished even in the harshness of the events unfolding. Yea. Ace work. Great directing. Great acting. Wonderful scoring and cinematography. I already mentioned my stand out performers that really just held me in their scenes, but the other actors did solid work and nothing was lacking. Emma switched up the multiple layers of her characters complex position pretty well.
This is such a beautiful film, it pulls at your heartstrings and you can't help but feel sorry for all 3 characters in one way or another, I was also astonished to find that Harry's acting was so good in this film that you simply forgot that he was HARRY STYLES, it was strange to feel that way as I am a huge fan of his. I feel that the right people were cast for this film, the younger ones, and the older ones, it just worked. Also, Harry actually went to the Director personally as he'd read the book and really wanted to be a part of it, which I find incredible. He put himself out there and really wanted to be in this movie. The film really is about wasted time which is what Harry has said about the film, and it makes you think about your own life. Do we just exist or are we actually living it to our full potential? I am in awe of this movie and recommend anyone to watch it.
Yes, I still often think about Harry saying the main thing he took away from the story was the sadness of wasted time. It has blighted my own life in different ways too.

I’m still thinking about it days after watching it. Poignant performances by all the actors and don’t believe the negative reviews! Watch it and let the story engulf your senses as it did mine.
This was an incredibly moving story. I can’t imagine what it was like to live through those times and not be able to love who you wanted but the movie was incredibly emotional and sad. It reminded me of movies they used to make before cinema became all about the next blockbuster hit. This was a beautiful movie done extremely well.

Such a beautiful and poignant movie. You can feel the emotions of each character. The cast is brilliant, each of them. A story far too often played out, sadly even now for some. Loved it.
I went to watch it when it first came out and only got to watch half of it before my mum was rushed to hospital and I completely forgot about it until the other day I watched it all the way through and I have watched it so many time since, It's amazing that with only 6 real characters, they can make such an amazing film
I watched it last night and I was blown away by this incredibly deep, heart breaking and heart warming story! It’s so touching on a deeper level than some love stories, because this is so realistic to life back when being lgbt was illegal. So it really makes you think about how lucky we are to be living in a world where (for the most part) we can all express who we are openly. I hope there will come a time in our futures, where there will be total equality and openness without any homophobia, racism etc whatsoever. We’re definitely closer to it than back then!!! ❤
ah yes - but - DeSantis in Florida, Abbot in Texas and Trump's minions (among others) are doing everything in their considerable hate filled power to drag us back to way before the 1950s - The battle for dignity and equality is far far from over.
It was a beautiful movie and the actors did a great job. But I'd like to see the scenes from Tom's pov, cause the whole movie is either Marion's memories or Patrick's diaries. Tom has never been shown separately from these characters and I would like to get to know him better. I haven't read the book, maybe it's written that way, but I really needed scenes where Tom is at work or where he got drunk after the first time with Patrick. But the whole movie is about how Patrick and Marion saw Tom, and I really need his pov.
This film is so beautiful, emotional, sad & wonderful. I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it. It's strange how a film can be so tragic yet beautiful. Loved it. There definitely needs to be more LGBTQ stories told. I do sympathise for every single character, all in different ways.
Just had my 35th turn... It's weird, but this is my comfort movie. Now I have to figure out why ... I love it. Don't get me wrong, I know why...all of the actors are so real & truthful in their role...just the story is so sad for a long time. But in the end there is finally this clear sighting happening. I just love it.
OMG can I understand this sad and at the same time beautiful story, it is relevant not only in the 50s, but also in our century ... I have been married for 30 years and at the same time I love a man, how difficult, painful it is for everyone the day is torn into two parts ... A wonderful movie - about me 🤐
My H A R R Y ~ is there anything this man can’t do?! I found myself jealous of the cast lol. To be in the presence of perfection and get to make love on set. I had to catch my own breath as I watched the trailer! 💋❤️🔥
I saw it, I loved it, I would have liked the ending to have been better but I must say that I cried when I saw Tom enter the room where Patrick was in his wheelchair, and he hugs him with that delicacy that only a person in love can convey as saying I am here to be with you after so long, without a doubt an unforgettable scene. I was fascinated by this movie from start to finish, understanding each of the three main characters, understanding the position of each of them in the situations they lived with each other, a forbidden love between Tom and Patrick where discrimination was visible before the eyes of all but that after a long time it can be said that they meet to be together again, in general, destiny was in charge of uniting them forever. I was very sad when Marion left the house with a message to Tom where she says love him, take care of him, be happy. I must say that in each scene you can visualize deeply, a story full of meaning, performed in such a natural way, so unique, spectacular performances, a fascinating story, splendid settings, I LOVED IT, ONE OF MY FAVORITES. I hope to have and read this beautiful literary work by Bethan Roberts!
"There's still not enough LGBTQ stories out there. There are still individuals out there who lived through those times, you know? And I think it's important to get those stories told while their still here to tell them."
Awesome movie! I really enjoyed watching it. Harry did a wonderful job as an actor so it did the others. Very beautiful, sad and moving story all at the same timeframe. This is not about being straight or gay, but love, jealously, betrayal of friendship, society hypocrisy and prejudice, and unfortunately the consequences.
Thank you. I see so many people commenting elsewhere, assigning blame, when society is very much to blame, and essentially not understanding the role of denial when society doesn’t affirm your right to live as heterosexual people do.
I just finished watching the film. I LOVED it!! I was born in 1957. So being gay as a youth was considered a mental illness. That was pushed aside in the early 1970s. And since then LGBTQ acceptance has gotten better and better. We are not there yet. Step back and think. Why is the then-time period of the movie--and now where being gay and the reference to children go hand in hand. That is supposed to create fear in the straight folks. But rarely, if ever, do the two go together. I love period films and this is in my wheelhouse. I see how each of the three characters had a hand in how their lives progressed. I understand but was also upset about the wife writing the letter to the museum. I was in the military in the 80s and being gay could get you kicked out. But more times than not you could serve your country. Just keep your nose clean and you will be just fine. Great move!! Great acting. Yes, even Harry. Great production, writing and directing.
@@justlottie Yes! I tried to couch the wife's actions in the sensibilities of the era BUT her actions had a sense of selfishness/vindictiveness. She stated her reasons for her actions towards the end of the film. Just think, she kept that from her husband for 40 years plus. She lived and bumped elbows with the guy all this time. She figured out early on what she was getting into within days of the marriage. Her friends were throwing caution even before the wedding During this time period in Britian-the early 60's-the past reactions/feelings towards homosexuality were beginning to move/melt towards acceptance.

Beautiful film
I’m a simple woman, I see Harry styles I click.
Linus is so handsome in this show

Can anyone remember the interview where Harry and Lou mocked each others' accents. 😅
amazing movie
Thank you. I see so many people commenting elsewhere, assigning blame, when society is very much to blame, and essentially not understanding the role of denial when society doesn’t affirm your right to live as heterosexual people do.
Saw the film today and Im seriously not the same person.
Love does not vanish...
I think her writing the letter was absolutely unfair and incomparable to how the triangle ruined _her_ life. She nearly killed Patrick.
