I heard about this film because of some Dutch fellow filmmakers working on it for the Amsterdam crew. They said it was intense. I flew in May to LA to do a film and I saw the book in a book store. I bought it and read it in between takes and my goodness, I got hooked. I was worried that this would be a very difficult thing to adapt into a screenplay. But I was intrigued, now thanks to Covid-19 I had time to watch it. And it’s really really good. The negative reviews come imho from people who don’t like arthouse or layered dramas. The edit had here and there a few confusing cuts (jumping the line) but that could be intentional to make us feel like Theo (shook up and confused after the bombing). The two Theo’s and Boris’ match perfectly. And I adore the Amsterdam location shoots. Shooting a dialogue scene in front of Schiphol AirPort is not an easy feat. And the garage sequence was very cool. Is a typical tiny claustrophobic Amsterdam garage. It’s not a polished movie and that’s what is great about it. It’s easy to polish it up and make it more attractive but that would take away from the raw grittiness of the situations and characters.

Did director just snub the artistic director Cameron Bailey? It seems as if Cameron gestured to shake his hand & he just ignored it. No wonder the filmed bombed with critics ! now 33% on RT
