    The headline is misleading-Georgia is not divided. There are Georgian citizens who stand for democratic values and who stand together (!), while on the other side, there is a single political party, "Georgian Dream," an illegitimate ruling party attempting to pull Georgia back toward Russia and autocracy. This is precisely the narrative that Georgian Dream wants to portray-suggesting that there are Georgian people on both sides. In reality, it's the people versus a single political party. Please ensure accuracy, especially in this age of misinformation!

    What people need to understand is that Georgians are fighting for democracy. Hence, why we inspire to become part of EU. Our disagreement is with the system Russia stands on, not with its people per se. We want rule of law, checks and balances in our government, protection of fundamental human rights and freedom. Russia offers none of these. That is why we are fighting. It’s not only our fight, this affects the entire region of Caucasus. Therefore, it is important that we win, not only for us but for the region and Europe as well.

      What is happening in Georgia?
      1. No mass protests, only a few hundred people in some cities and maximum from 5 to 10,000 people in front of the parliament building in Tbilisi;
      2. No mass appraisal is taking place, all institutions work properly and the country in general lives as usually;
      3. State institutions are solid and loyal to the state and government despite obvious pressure from American and some European embassies, threatening with sanctions and consequences if they don’t express their loyalty to the European future by all means;
      4. Among peaceful protesters there are approximately from 100 to 500 people, members of the violent extremist mobs that are well-prepared and intentionally continue assault on Georgian parliament building;
      5. This assault is arguably staged by some opposition parties and members;
      6. President Salome Zurabichvili called on minors and schoolchildren to attend violent protests that led to a huge backlash; unknown people entering school buildings and calling out children for a protest. One of such individuals is from the opposition channel TV Pirveli. He was expelled by school staff;
      7. These fake pro-European people are directly threatening and insulting non-supporters, including me, arguing that once they come to power, they will punish all “non-pro-European” citizens;
      8. These violent mobs are cherished by some local and foreign scholars, professors and school teachers;
      9. The whole fight takes a place in front of the parliament building from 20.00 to 05.00 before that and after nothing actually happens at all;
      10. This is an intentionally planned scheme to create a “freedom fighters” picture for the Western media and keep citizens strained every day; hoping, that someone will be hurt or better die that will like Euromaidan lead to a full-scaled appraisal. Otherwise, no forceful regime change is possible.

    I doubt the credibility of this expert, Victor, who suggests that the Russians fleeing their country last year and coming to Georgia are a key factor in Georgian tourism. These were individuals escaping military mobilization and the overall situation in Russia, not tourists coming to spend millions in Georgia. While it had a short-term impact on currency inflow, it was not a sustainable driver of tourism.

    Why must thre Georgian choose between Russia and Europe? It is a sovereign nation. It should be able to enter into as many economic agreements as will benefit it. If those in charge were looking after the future of Georgia, they would welcome all business. The statement that Russia being good to her neighbors to the south seems rediculous seeing that Russia has over 750,000 casualties to account for. If Russia was a fundamentally sound society, nations would be in line to do business with her. Russia would not have to resort to interference, intervention, or invasion tactics to maintain influence. Russia will have close to 800,000 casualties by the time Trump takes office on Jan 20. Will Russia be willing to how respect to her niegbors then? We shall see.

      You should get your facts right before commenting, its Ukraine that has over 800,000 militants deaths plus thousands injured, its not Russia. Its the EU and Brussels that interferes in the EU countries, if Brussels doesn't like the candidate that won the elections in a country they will find many excuses to overthrow him or her and cancel the elections. Brussels is just a fascist régime.

      Nations are in line to do business with Russia. The whole it's dangerous to be Russias neighbours comes from buthurted Ukranians and russophobic baltic states. That's it. As for Georgia, it's not up to them, EU is like well if you want in you have to do A B C ....Georgia did it and now EU is like well now you need to do X Y Z ....( same with Turkey) Georgia now looked at this and said Fck EU. for next 4 years we won't even try to join in.

      Hmm. The Georgian dream has not even re-established the diplomatic relationships with Russia. How on Earth can it be pro-Russian? They just don't feel they want to sacrifice their youth in a proxy war against Russia like Ukraine had done. It is your own government who is salivating at the thought of Russian and Georgian youth dying in a pointless conflict and doing everything possible to instigate it.

    "And Russia is fine with that, so they are taking peacful approaches with their neighbouring countries"
    Ukraine would like to disagree, no matter what one thinks of the Ukrainian situation and casus bellis one thing is a fact, Russian forces invaded a neighbouring sovereign country, which is also what happened in 2008 in Georgia btw.
    One might be inclined to believe Russian position has changed, but is difficult to believe that when since 2000 Russia had a single person covering the 2 top poltiical roles (premier and president), 2000-2008 President, 2008-2012 Premier, 2012-2030 President.

      Presidents shouldn't be picked by elected governemts, that was a misatke when they changed their constitution.
      Likewise is difficult to have fair elections when a part of your country is occupied by another nation's military forces, no matter what might have caused it, separatist movements should separate via vote not external military intervention, right?
