I really want to like the temporal storms.. But I don't want them spawning in my bedroom or kitchen. I know there's emitters to prevent it but it takes time to get those. I do however like the lore stuff just not the storms.
@raven67854 eh I hate the drifters and lore mobs and I use a mod to give the seraphs human skin tones because I don't like the unnatural stuff in the game
You did understand this is not a Minecraft mod at all, right? The two are both voxel games, but other than that superficial visual similarity, they're quite different. Vintage Story has its own original code-base written specifically to be much more amenable to mods, and game-play differs substantially. I believe the DEVs had some experience with Minecraft modding, and then at least one went on to work on the abortive HyRule project (IIRC), before they struck put on their own, to create Vintage Story from scratch.
@@thomashiggins9320 I love pedantic people online. No shit it is a different stand alone game than Minecraft. Sorry critical reading isn’t your strong suit. I never said it was modded Minecraft. It is a Minecraft clone with superior code and took inspiration from all the great mods for Minecraft over the years. That isn’t a bad thing and I never said it was.
Seriously though, the bears... Even the wolves at first, in early Vintage Story it really feels like you have a % chance to just die every time you move 100 feet in any direction.
My first death was by a boar, I was chopping down a tree, when I heard a piglet squeal nearby. I thought that's cool. Then mom or dad gored to me to death in two hits.
Oh absolutely agreed! I it's an absurdly fun game. Hats off to the developers for making an amazing out of the box experience in a game that isn't even complete!
Personally would build in the area around where you found your first carrot which also has a small path of terra preta as well. I think this area is beautiful, and the sort of builds one could come up with that incorporate the nature present could be really cool
Hmm that area was also quite nice.. I was going to build along the mountain cliffs where I am currently at. I'll have to see if I can't find that area on the map and head back to it. Hopefully it has wide open spaces for me to build or a nice giant cliff to build into
Flint/stone/obsidian knives have double durability now, so they just take up less space for the same amount of work you get from them. Also, the 1.19 pre versions are intended for bugtesting and testing mod compatibility, so you might run into unfinished content or bugs. Also in vanilla, those birch shrublands never grow taller, they stay a liability unless you clear them out.
That explains why you only get one. I know 1.19 is only for bug testing. But I basically live on the latest versions when they come out.. I have the stream vids to prove it :P.. Bring on the bugs
I totally agree on you with Temporal storms. The crafting, survival, and exploration are so good that anything that takes me away from doing those things is just annoying haha.
I think with your current settings, you will need to travel tens of thousands of blocks before you see a meaningful change in climate. You can check your current latitude by typing "/wgen pos latitude" in chat; the default "temperate" spawn is around 45 degrees. Note that latitude (and thus climate) cycles indefinitely; if you head straight north you will hit a polar region, then an equatorial region, then a polar region, etc., until you reach the end of the world. Just to note: there are no fishing rods or anything like that yet, but at the moment you can still hunt fish with the weapon of your choice, and harvest them for fish meat, which you can eat raw, cook over the campfire, or use in stews.
i don't think so, minecraft was always directionless even before microsoft and full release, they built a sandbox and tried tacking a game onto it afterwards with "survival mode", realised there's no end game than tacked on a final boss that doesn't make any sense.
when you mark the map and do the pickaxe symbol and choose the copper color (top right) it automatically switches the pins name into copper. dont need to type :D
Right now if you pick mushrooms, they do come back in that same area, so marking the spot is a good idea. Beside growing on the ground, they also grow on trees. They come back rather quickly too so it makes sense to mark them on your map. There is a mushroom mark to use, it kinda looks like the trees one (the trees mark I use for resin trees). Bonus if you find a grove of resin and mushroom trees. 😉
I went and watched the 12 year old videos before this, it was such a nice memory lane looking at old mc again, So what happened to the friend you played with back then? I'm interested to see the finished empire.
Every other content creator for this game justs sits in a hole, makes a pit trap, or otherwise cheeses the storms. Basically just makes them a time waster. I really can't fault you for just saying "yeah no I'm not doing that"
Yeah and you can get those beacons that prevent the spawning but I just find it overall annoying. They are making changes but I just like the game as it is. A really fun voxel game where the elements are absurdly dangerous.
@@raven67854 rifts aren't that bad, especially if you have leather armour or a crude shield. drifters only spawn from rifts when the light level is below seven
That is likely! I started this during the beta build of 1.19. I just don't like the storms because they are so cheap and annoying. But just random mob spawns are fine with me.
@@raven67854 No harm no foul, just thought I'd point it out if you're not in the mood for them in the future :) but still want all the fun mobs as they get added! The new one looks like it's gonna be horrifying.
I often watch that many of your game videos are running with a lot of timing. Maybe it's better to divide them into several parts? It's just quite difficult to watch an hour-long video with the same interest. Yes, and this will help to keep the material in stock so that the channel does not stand idle. It's just that the same LOTRO video ran for 4 hours.
you just put the game on babies first survival mode, play how you want obviously but i know many people arent gonna like how you just intentionally turned off half the game
Let me know if I should keep traveling north or settle down where I am at the end!

so why is traveling north important? i am still learning about this game
"All of the temporal stuff is turned of because its anonoying" my man finally another sane human

This is a superior Minecraft experience. They shored up the code and then added all the best survival mods from over the years.
Yeah custom engine really helps it here. Definitely takes the best of the survival mods and tries something new

The starts brutal indeed

was that terra at 24:22 on the right, or am i crazy, oh and just found the channel when looking for newer VS stuff, sub added ^^
I totally did miss it ;(!
Yeah i was going to say that, it totaly was terra preta

Thanks for the tips I knew there was no fishing rods but I was hoping 1.19 would add them. Alas we'll have to wait for homestead 2 update I suppose
minecraft supposed to be sitting where vintage story till microsoft bought it and made it into a kids show
Haha yeah :D

Sometimes yeah.. I have gotten lazier in older videos
"That seems interesting"
We've all been fooled by the pretty geometric shapes of one water block flowing down a hill
Sadly :/
I've actually been thinking of making a mushroom cultivation mod :) also expanding the fungi aspects of the game
I would really like mushroom cultivation! Should be in the base game but I'll take a mod too.
Oh that would be so cool. Have a little cellar that i can grow mushrooms in? Heck yeah!

There was DEFINITELY tin under that piece
Definitely
This popped up on my fyp I like the vibe

Gotta go for that vintage look :P
Eastern Empire! Lets go!
Haha yeah reviving an old Minecraft series but in Vintage Story. Long road but we'll do it
VintageStory is great, but I have yet to play it more. I like to see it as a mix between BetterThanWolves (Minecraft Mod) and Don't Starve (Together)
Yeah it's pretty good :)
what version of this game did you start recording in? it looks like current is 1.18 version is that correct?
1.19 beta
You still talk to Gryx or any of them?
I bet your computer loves it without the shadows and all that too lol
Oh it may.. But it runs fine with the shadows :D. This is a personal choice
Please stream it live if possible.
I have thought of this
Hope ya have the npc mod otherwise its gonna be an empty empire
True but this is a play on an old Minecraft mod. I should get the NPC mod once I am done though
use a torch
you COULD just turn the storms off? If thats the only part that bothers you.
I did turn the storms off. I believe it also turns off the spawns or it did when I created it. Been almost a year I can't remember.
