I can really picture how perfectly marvelous this album will be. I haven't been this hyped for a new album release in YEARS. I WILL have this album the very day it is released.
i think i could watch this video about a half a million times and not be tired of it. i am going to take a hiatus from the world when new album comes out in september...and spend about a week doing nothing but listening
loved the way this clip began. honestly i feel it should be the beginning to the next video they film for the new album. soo beautiful. im sooo anticipating their next release.
Holy, you're using an actual piano. An adorably beaten-up upright piano just like mine. MAN I love this band. And Paul is a really good pianist, which is awesome.
I totally agree! I just LOVE the piano hook too...I listen to it a LOT. And this is just a preview of what's to come...can you just imagine? It gives me goosebumps
I am speechless. I love everything you've released thus far, but I have a special affinity to the piano. And Paul, you have given me goose bumps. You are just beyond amazing. Thank you for this video - I can't wait
I thought the Reset EP was amazing, and couldn't get any better. Then you released your self titled album...and I thought "No way...it can't get better". And now...you're making this album. I'm so excited to be proven wrong again. This is going to be AMAZING!!
It looks and sounds to me like the piano is being mixed into a track. I'm sure those cats have hours of mind blowing jam sessions like this while coming up with ideas for tracks. I'm sure a lot of seemingly great stuff doesn't make the cut. Can't wait for the new album.
This album's gonna be ill, no doubt about it. But I gotta say that after a year and a half, I'm still amazed by the first one. The new one's just gonna make me explode!
Actually, I think that's true. I've figured out that at the very least, this clip and Lavatory Loops go together, if not Hyperbass as well. They all have this distinctive ~6.5 second lull in them. In this one, it's about half way through, right before the guitar starts. In Lav Loops, it's when it cuts to Paul tapping the pen. I can't really tell you about Hyperbass, because it's sped up by 70%, but the lull is there.
Well, I don't know for sure exactly. But it seems like they go together because they all have a slight pause in them that lasts for about 6.5 seconds. If you'd like to see what I mean, you can download a very useful, free sound editing program called audacity, first link if you search google. Once you install that, if you download the project files that I've posted about on audacityteam's forum in the "Lounge" section, you'll see.
@henttaii Hey they call them upright-grand pianos. The front is kind of like a grand and the lid usually goes up at an angle like a grand but the strings and hammers go vertical like an upright. Pianos is my job if you hadn't guessed!!
yeah, man, I figured that they were related somehow, and for the clapping one, I noticed that was in their Twilight track. still no idea where the hyperbass goes, but it might just fit in there somewhere.
Sorry, that was meant to be a reply to banksyart and explodyhead who posted about 4 months ago about getting the audio from different vid clips and layering them together to make a whole.
Interestingly, lining the audio here up with the audio from Lavatory Loops causes the audio from this clip to begin right at the same time that Darren hits that... whatever it is in Lavatory Loops, the marking of when things start to get played backwards. Figuring out where Hyperbass goes, if it goes here at all is more difficult for me. But I'm almost certain the other 2 go. It's really hard to get the timing right though. =D
I will check... Thats what I was going to say .that all this blogs they uploaded supposedly were going to be parts of songs in the new album but I havent heard this parts on any song.I think they were just ideas........... I'll check your comment.
This little bit of piano is just fantastic and amazing...I hope the inspiration that behind Paul's thoughts when he played this so long ago come sout in the new album because it was just amazing.......so was clockwork. I was thoroughly dissapointed with Armistice...I hope the next album is like their self titled one
Just started thinking about this.. They did some music on the last twilight movie.. and this kinda sounds like something that would be in the movie... so just guessing this might be in the second twilight movie..
Is there a reason I can't view this on an iPhone? I keep looking for it and can't find it, and when I go to the Mute Math page, other videos will load but this one (and all the vlog ones) won't.
Yeah, i kinda see how you could think they go together, but in my honest opinion, I think they're different songs. The time signature/speed seems to be a little different. But I could be wrong. If you caught it and it really does go together, props to you. How long did it take you to get that to work? Took me like 25 tries, lol.
Actually, this isn't the piano part from Lost Year. This has a bunch of arpeggios walking around a bunch of chords, and Lost Year has two prominent chords with common tones repeated to give a sense of movement, but it's not even close to this. Parts of this might have inspired Lost Year, but they changed it drastically if it did. This sounds like something they never ended up using, as a lot of what they did ended up as.
They raised the tune a bit, and changed it slightly, but it plays throughout most of the song. You can hear it about 25 seconds in, right at the lyrics "'Cause nothing's a breeze, we suffer we bleed"
Care to pinpoint which part of the song? Like the minute:sec. Not trying to be a dick, but I'm not hearing this exactly, but something similar. But if I missed it then please share
It’s 2020 now and this is still one of my favorite MuteMath videos.
I'm like 90% sure that this piano was the basis for Kings off of Voice in the Silence
@@cdoconn definitely
Hard agree
I really wish I heard what the actual song for this was supposed to be. I still absolutely love this piano hook.
This is O by Coldplay! 6 years before it came out!!
Videos like this remind me of why I fell in love with music.....and this band.
Anybody hear the new song "O" by Coldplay? it sounds a LOT like this piano progression.
It does, a lot. A little way too similar
I can really picture how perfectly marvelous this album will be. I haven't been this hyped for a new album release in YEARS. I WILL have this album the very day it is released.
i think i could watch this video about a half a million times and not be tired of it. i am going to take a hiatus from the world when new album comes out in september...and spend about a week doing nothing but listening
this is still my favorite video that you guys have posted...i could listen to this piano on loop forever and ever and ever.........
Still inspiring. Greatness.
I love, love, love, LOVE this and will be forever upset that this wasn't in the new album...just as an instrumental!! It's so amazing.
^THIS.
Every one of these clips has me extremely excited. but none more than this one. I'm prepared to be amazed.
loved the way this clip began. honestly i feel it should be the beginning to the next video they film for the new album. soo beautiful. im sooo anticipating their next release.
mute math is so good, they make me wanna cry
Holy, you're using an actual piano. An adorably beaten-up upright piano just like mine.
MAN I love this band. And Paul is a really good pianist, which is awesome.
I love playing the ratiug!

I totally agree! I just LOVE the piano hook too...I listen to it a LOT. And this is just a preview of what's to come...can you just imagine? It gives me goosebumps
My head is going to explode. I need new Mute Math.
I am speechless. I love everything you've released thus far, but I have a special affinity to the piano. And Paul, you have given me goose bumps. You are just beyond amazing. Thank you for this video - I can't wait
Gosh I love you guys!
I thought the Reset EP was amazing, and couldn't get any better. Then you released your self titled album...and I thought "No way...it can't get better". And now...you're making this album. I'm so excited to be proven wrong again. This is going to be AMAZING!!

This is still my favorite video yet of the making of the 2nd album
I'm so excited for the new album! This was a great vid :) i'm expecting nothing less than perfection from this album with how long it's taking!

I love what your doing with this channel :D I love seeing the creative process. Keeps your listeners (me) in the loop! More should do this.

oh my. i love you.
this album is going to be more than amazing... is there a word for that?
Cool - I can't wait to hear that piano part in the context of the new album!
Couldn't have put it better myself.
M U T E M A T H
Just, wow.
it will be out in march, they have been working on it since summer 08
if no one else got this the title says Piano Ratuig. which is guitar spelled backwards. in the video, the guitar is tracked backwards.
It looks and sounds to me like the piano is being mixed into a track.
I'm sure those cats have hours of mind blowing jam sessions like this while coming up with ideas for tracks. I'm sure a lot of seemingly great stuff doesn't make the cut.
Can't wait for the new album.
"We're sorry this video is no longer available"
Anyone else getting this message?
great..........
This album's gonna be ill, no doubt about it. But I gotta say that after a year and a half, I'm still amazed by the first one. The new one's just gonna make me explode!
Clever boys!
OMg thats my birthday! if thats really the case, i'll be getting the best birthday present ever =D
Paul's keywork always gives me chills.
I'm stoked on this album
good work guys, Come back to Calgary again soon too please?!?

this is magic.
This was Mutemath 😔

no thats like a preview of the new album, the album is coming out march
Only Paul can play on a crappy spinnet piano like that and make it sound groovy. Can't wait to hear more!
oh yes...
yeah, man, I figured that they were related somehow, and for the clapping one, I noticed that was in their Twilight track. still no idea where the hyperbass goes, but it might just fit in there somewhere.

trooooollll is troollll!
I heard it was like...coming out in July or something.
I will check... Thats what I was going to say .that all this blogs they uploaded supposedly were going to be parts of songs in the new album but I havent heard this parts on any song.I think they were just ideas........... I'll check your comment.
I heard they're going to release the EP on February 10.
fucking sick!!! i cant wait
This little bit of piano is just fantastic and amazing...I hope the inspiration that behind Paul's thoughts when he played this so long ago come sout in the new album because it was just amazing.......so was clockwork. I was thoroughly dissapointed with Armistice...I hope the next album is like their self titled one
Definitely not the same.
You know what, the piano in Clipping easily tops this.
in march
Just started thinking about this.. They did some music on the last twilight movie.. and this kinda sounds like something that would be in the movie... so just guessing this might be in the second twilight movie..
What type of guitar effect is that? It's insanely cool.
yeah someone said something, i heard it to
I was thinking about doing that, but it would be a lot of work...i still might...
o wow it does sound a bit like Lost Year
Why the delay for the new album?
Is there a reason I can't view this on an iPhone? I keep looking for it and can't find it, and when I go to the Mute Math page, other videos will load but this one (and all the vlog ones) won't.

If you caught it and it really does go together, props to you. How long did it take you to get that to work? Took me like 25 tries, lol.
that just happened.
Can anyone explain why this song is not on the new album? or am I just oblivious and it's mixed in somewhere?
@lilworkerb love it when that happens
How about a little Guitar Onaip?
I bet that would sound awesome.
@mrhippify Honestly I couldn't have said it any better, 1000000% agreed.
play this whole track backwards (guitar onaip). It's pretty awesome.
Actually, this isn't the piano part from Lost Year. This has a bunch of arpeggios walking around a bunch of chords, and Lost Year has two prominent chords with common tones repeated to give a sense of movement, but it's not even close to this. This sounds like something they never ended up using, as a lot of what they did ended up as.
easier said than done.
you mean "onaip"?
What is a Ratiug and why can’t I find the word on the internet everywhere?
It's Guitar
They raised the tune a bit, and changed it slightly, but it plays throughout most of the song. You can hear it about 25 seconds in, right at the lyrics "'Cause nothing's a breeze, we suffer we bleed"
ratiug......guitar
I think it's called "Backwards".
Care to pinpoint which part of the song? Like the minute:sec. Not trying to be a dick, but I'm not hearing this exactly, but something similar. But if I missed it then please share
I like how the piano is slightly out of tune. It suites the style in my opinion!!
