- Опубликовано: 8 сен 2024
- Swami Sarvapriynanda conducts a Q&A session following the discourse on "The Essence of All Vedanta" (Based on Mandukya Karika). List of Questions:
0:10 - Consciousness is witness or (sakshi) of what is happening around us. Just like we(eg: human beings) are witnessing everything (all the things happening in the world, body mind etc), concsciousness is also a witness. So if consciousness is a witness, who or what is making the choices that we are seeing around us or even within us?
14:43 - If the world is a manifestation of our thoughts, then how do everyone in the world project the same world (for eg: we all see the same flower etc). Why not different worlds?
20:56 - If Brahman is everything (doer and the done, seer and the seen etc), what is role/purpose/significance of Karma?
29:00 - Do laws of physics apply to an enlighted person?
37:00 - What is confusion? How did we become seperate from Turiya and why/where did this confusion start/occur?

ABOUT VEDANTA
Vedanta is one of the world’s most ancient religious philosophies and one of its broadest. Based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India, Vedanta affirms the oneness of existence, the divinity of the soul, and the harmony of religions.
ABOUT VEDANTA NY
Vedanta Society of New York is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Order of India. In fact, this is the Order's first Center started by Swami Vivekananda, in 1894. It was a historic event, for the seed of the world-wide Ramakrishna Movement was sown here in New York over a century ago. Swami Sarvapriyananda is the present Resident Minister and Spiritual Leader of the Vedanta Society of New York.

Ô
what gets reborn? if turiyum is ultimate. is turiyum is taking rebirth due to karma?
@@riturajacharya1472 Turiyam isn’t bound by the law of karma and hence not bound by the cycle of birth. Jeevatma is the one that goes through the transmigration where it assumes a new body. This is the collection of our thoughts and emotions and energy body (or the sukshma shariara) that reincarnates. That’s my understanding anyway 🙏🏽
He just went around and repeated standard metaphors. He never answered the question of what is behind making choices in an enlightened mind.
This is so typical in this so called sravana sessions.
What drives the choices is .. nature. It’s automated and the enlightened does not interfere with the manifestation of choice, as HE is aware of how nature operates and stays as witness, as he knows he is not the doer.
@@anroyus Then the choice to search for enlightenment, stabilizing in witness and merging into Absolute is all the work of nature ?
I have just been listening to Swamiji within the last few weeks ( stumbled on). My mind/ intellect craves for listening to Swamiji everyday. It is amazing how he explains the deepest knowledge? It is very profound ( can't express in words), yet very practical day to day applicable and graspable fashion. ” HE is Current Times Swami Vivekananda” 🙏🙏🙏🙏
So true!!!
True!!!
Brilliant Swami Sarva Priyananda should quit the unnatural and anti Vedic monasteries, get married and start a Gurukul Ashram like in Vedic times.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Cannot find right words to appreciate these so valuable and filled with deep knowledge sessions. Please keep going Swami Ji. Parnaam
Bro, sikhi is all about Advaita Vedanta too..
Satnam shri waheguruji
I have understood non-dualism completely
It eliminates sufferings at all levels
This is a very enlightening talk. Thank you Swami ji Sarvapriyananda. Om Tat Sat!
Vedanta NY, Thank you so much for organizing these talks with their Q&As on your channel! It makes them so easy to find. Much appreciated.
Wow!!!
I was so ignorant about the reality. Even though I’m not enlightened, I can proudly say I’m improvised.
Much thanks Swamiji 🙏🏽🙏🏽
improvised?
Perhaps today is my day.... Thanks a ton, Maharaj. All my questions are answered... In Gratitude
The Question of Karma, Confusion, witness, application at relative level, grounding of each level, wow... Got it. I cannot thank you enough .... Pranams
Thanks Swamiji and Happy Thoughts शुभेच्छा।।
After knowing that everything is Consciousness, the one reality, the unhappiness in life no longer hurts. The intellect and the mind feels enormously blessed. So many things appear to transpire in the life, but really nothing has ever happened in reality. If at this very instant, the entire creation disappears, what is the big deal? ...... Thank you Swamiji.
But sir,you must sustain this conviction ,that is the difficulty
Finally found a guru who is imparting right knowledge.Thanku oh enlightened one.
Thank you very much Swamiji 🙏🙏🙏
Pranams Swamiji ❤
Swami what can I say.. Each video is truly helpful for all the true seeker's especially these videos are very helpful for non local people. Please kindly keep posting the video's. Thanks a lot Swami. Lots of love and gratitude ..

Thank you swamiji. Your talks on Vedant are truly inspiring and you have the gift to make all of us understand easily, by means of logic and with your words and examples, that we are actually the Absolute Reality. I am truly grateful to you and please continue to make more of these videos
Swamiji I particularly liked the example of the donkey being tied to a tree. Seems we were all in this state all this time until you clearly explained to us that we are not in bondage and that we are ever free and that sole reason we are suffering is because of confusion of our true nature
Where has this guy been all my life? (Aw, I probably wouldn't have appreciated it back when I knew everything.)
Brilliant answers and explanations, great accumulation of wisdom , illuminates our insight!!!
Enlightenment is rightly explained with accurate meaning of consciousness. Soul is not apara but pata.
Thank you so much swamiji and team
So So grateful to you Swami.
Over four months I'm listening to your talks on advaita Vedanta I find myself lucky..... And all worldly pleasures become meaningless.... I bow down to you...bless us Swami so that I can contemplate on the Almighty
What a joy! Pranams Swamiji!
It’s amazing to find answers and get clarity on so many aspects of existence and enlightenment from one source - Swamiji! Deep gratitude Swamiji, every lecture and every session seems to help bring us closer to our absolute truth.. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thank you.
Just outstanding!
Blessed to be listening to this
Jai Sri Ramakrishna Jai Sri Ramakrishna Jai Sri Ramakrishna Jai Sri Ramakrishna Jai Sri Ramakrishna
Pronams revered Swamiji, my spiritual teacher, bless me.
The answer on Karma is linked to the answer regarding our choices. Both answers are essentially the same. It clarifies a lot of doubts.
From 37:00 - 47:40 it’s pure gold and just that alone is enough for enlightenment for the true seeker!
Thanks a lot swamiji for your wonderful lectures!!
Jai Sri Ramakrishna 🌺🌺🌺🙏🇮🇳
Infinite pranam to JAGAT-JANANI MA SARADA DEVI, YUGABATAR RAMKRISHNA PARAMAHANSHADEV & YUGANAYAK VIVEKANANDA the incarnate of LORD SHIVA.
Brilliant explanation! 🙏🏼❤️
On hearing Swamili''s talk on Mandukya Upanisad I am reminded of Tamil sage Thayimanavar's song
கலக்கமுற நெஞ்சை கலக்கி திரும்பவும்
துலக்குபவன் நீ அலையோ பராபரமே. meaning
" Oh Paraparame are you not you who first cnfuse my mind and also clears the cofusioion.!
Buddha says" in the beginning there was ignorance " When did ignorance emanate? No answer! ( Swami confirms too)
Hari Om,Pranam, Swamiji.
I'm so grateful 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
aaaaah! that last story
i laughed freely after so many years and m more happy bcoz i got some knowledge
Thank you swamiji. Another beautiful and interesting session.
Respectfully Swami ji, here is one more riddle :
20x20 is a thought in my awareness , that one which is experiencing is consciousness !
The moment we say “
That “ , it becomes an object !! And consciousness is not an object🙏
Reality explained in an unsurpassed way. Thank you!
🙏🙏 thank you so much swamiji
Namaskaram Guru 🙏 🙏🙏 🙏🙏 🙏🙏 🙏
I don't know if this question would reach to Swamy Sarvapriyananda Puri ever but I wish it could :
The question is :
When we dream we experience dream world which goes away when we wake up. And then when we go back to sleep and dream again and it seldom happens that we start from where we had left off in the last dream. But in case of waking world opposite happens almost always - when we go to sleep, the waking world goes away for sure but when we wake up the waking world starts where we had left off before sleeping. This is what makes distinction between waking and dreaming. But I would love to know how does it happen or what Vedanta has to say about it. Why in dreams we seldom ever start dreaming where we had stopped in last dreams. But in waking world we always start from where we left off before sleeping.
If you had a dream (A), in which you went thru many "days and nights", would the world you returned to within (A), after every "sleep/night" within (A), be the same unchanging world, in which you continued from where you left off before going to "sleep" within (A). If it would indeed be so in that "multi-day &night" Dream (A), you need to undersatnd and explain how it so happened. If you comprehend that Truth, your "returning to same waking world" doubt will be laid to rest.
Clarity in motion Swamiji
Pronam swamiji.I Listen you last one year.thanks for your lecture.i know lot Of thing about bedanta.
Something shines in consciousness
🙏❤🙏
I am the witness in which mind operates, the body operates and the world appears. I am the consciousness shining upon the mind. I am not the mind but the mind appears in me.
In my understanding, the theory of Karma is like the theory of quantum field theory. Outrageous statement I know; that is why I used the imprecise word 'like.'
God bless all of you watching 🙏
Thank you Swami Sarvapriynanda
I really like the explanation in which he describes our dream world as our projection (hence, everyone in our dream is experiencing a common dream world) - and how he uses this to further explain why we seemingly experience a common reality in the waking world (because it is being projected in One Consciousness).
Iam unaffected, unchanging, ever present, never absent consiousness
Pranams.
Listen, reflect and then meditate. Then the simple logic of this wisdom will reveal itself. Ask questions and query but consider with a genuine open mind the Swami’s teaching of Vedanta. Does anyone know a better solution to our inevitable suffering of the human condition? 🙏🏼
Only when the ego is dead then the karma doesn't apply to the person.
🙏🙏🙏 Guruji
Swami - thank you for such nice explanation. I am falling in love with these videos. I have one question.
1. Why is there gross injustice in this world? example: In India there was a horrific crime against a girl in New Delhi [Bus /Nirbhaya case] With no explicit cause from that girl, she gets abused /killed. how does vedanta explain such events?
Thank you Swami ji
Swamiji pranams your explanation about mandookya upanishad took me totally away from this entire universe I really experienced a new and blank world speechless motionless ,,,,,,, some reality no words to express thank u swamiji
हरी: ऊॅं 🙏🏻 नमस्कार स्वामीजी 🙏🏻
Thanks
Swami ji Namaskaras to you
My name is vinay Pandurangi from Mumbai.
Am thoroughly and clearly following and trying to understand the ULITAMATE TRUTH .
I feel all your talks and satsang are very lucid and great explanations made easy to understand .was wondering if it was possible to translate the live discussions and lectures be translated in different languages so more people can benefit from these talks and partake this divine knowledge. Maybe In Hindi to begin with.!!!!!. Thank you swamji for your guidance .
Physical existence is due to confusion ......👌
swagatham saranagatham
The last question should be the first one. It’s a great one! Why is there this consciousness or Brahman and why is there this phenomenological world and why is there this confusion of considering that to be real, which is the source of suffering. Why anything exists at all? The answer, as in physics, is we don’t know. The Buddhists deny the existence of everything.
But this is when a dose of reality check is warranted. The purpose of Vedanta is to get us to be content and not have ups and downs and the associated suffering. Vedanta does a very good job of that.
Brilliant Swami Sarva Priyananda should quit the unnatural and anti Vedic monasteries, get married and start a Gurukul Ashram like in Vedic times.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Joy.. that is your answer.. Joy comes directly from consciousness.. Happiness is from the mind but joy, that is from the Atman. That is the closest thing by which you can conceive or come close to "understanding" the consciousness. It is like positive attitude towards existence and being. Even if you are sad at the moment, there is joy inside you. By joy you are created, by joy you are sustained in Maya, to joy you will return in the end. Other thing that is Atman outside of awaker is space. Space has no opposition it is beyond duality. Empty boundless space is the consciousness of Brahman. And there is of course the light.
Super teflon a nice example of Brahman. Namaste Swamiji.
*Better than searching mind bending movies watch such mind freaking videos this makes me more mindbended than those because it makes me curious of the reality.*
There is no spoon!👍
The story of the donkey was really liberating 😂😂
Comment on the first question.
In my ignorance, since I am identified as the doer/ego, I inevitably suffer due to attachments and fears. Making choices is thus ridden with conflict. After realisation, clarity and hence choicelessness in action perhaps becomes obvious ( to the witness consciousness) as attachments/fears are dropped. Though functional choices and planning still need to be made by the ego/mind.
Respectfully Swami ji “ anything which you are aware of is not consciousness “ so I am aware of me being conscious of whatever is going on outside & inside my mind - I am aware of that-can this awareness be called consciousness !! But since I am aware of my awareness, which this becomes object then where lies the consciousness ! Or Consciousness enables me to be aware of everything but it can’t be pointed out that this is the consciousness, then it becomes an object!! Perplexing 🙏
For the last question of where did our confusion or error of our real nature come from, swami says that there is no answer.
My explanation is that if someone is dreaming and asks the question why am I dreaming, the answer can only be found when one wakes up and when that happens, the dreamer's question won't have much significance. Similarly, this question of confusion only arises when we are ignorant and can't be answered in our present state.
Swamiji, my comment is based on the first question, which I saw as a question of Freewill. If our true nature is not the intellect, but the witnessing Consciousness, what difference does our Enlightenment or lack of Enlightenment make when it comes to the question of Freewill? In other words, just because I am ignorant of my true nature, I am still Satchitananda and not the body or the intellect and, therefore, not the doer, not the thinker, not the decider. As Nisargadatta has explained, "In Reality, things are done to you, not by you."
Brad Stephan - what’s the question here?
😇💕🌹🙏
Grt teaching Swamiji! My qst is: in consciousness is there a difference between Self -The Ego and Self- the will ( the latter imp for our being) and must me therefore make a distinction!
This seems to be the same idea as the first question asked in the Q&A Session, about choices
hi i m from indonesia
One question arises in my mind. How is Moksha (or releases from innumerable cycles of birth and deaths) explained in all of this? Can someone say if Swamiji spoke on this point in any of his lectures, if so, which one?
Watch playlist of Katha Upanishad
Hello. Thank you for this video. Thank you, Swami for your passion to teach. 🙏🏻
To the admin - I just noticed a minor typo in the title of this video, the spelling "Vedenta"... 😊 Not sure if this can still be edited. Thanks
Appreciate the sessions.Perhaps a simpler way to explain turium to westerners would be to think about the movie matrix-where matrix is the turium and the world we live is the three stages that swami ji has described is in the matrix but turium is beyond that matrix controlling our life.
But turium is not a seperate state from first three, that's why it is not good to explain it in that way in my opinion.
"Twenty into twenty" to me means 20 / 20 which equals 1. I suppose in India it means what I would refer to as 20 times 20.
Into means multiplication in India. 20 into 20 means 20 × 20, and 20 divided by 20 means 20/20 = 1
So the death is like awakening from the dream called life!?
Will the world cease to exist, the birds cease to sing and flowers cease to bloom when I cease to exist If everything is my projection ?
In the dream world, the different objects appear separate but the whole dream is one projection of a single mind, the reason dreams appear is due to the material nature of the mind. Using this, can we infer that although this world is a projection of single consciousness, the single consciousness has some materialistic nature?
A question for Swamiji. Pranam Swamiji! How do you distinguish between soul and consciousness? When I started my journey to understand the soul, I often confused it with consciousness. And I was told that there are various forms (I suppose states) of consciousness - subcounsciousness, unconsciousness, etc. And that consciousness and soul are different. Is "chit" the consciousness and "chaitanya" the soul? What is relationship between the soul and the consciousness?
If I may answer, soul is a concept in consciousness. The soul does not have absolute existence. You may think of it as a subtle body. It is imagined to outlive the body, but has as much reality as the body or possibly even less.
@24:56 In Mahayana Buddhism, Diamond sutra states “Furthermore, Subhuti, that mind is everywhere
equally. Because it is neither high nor low, it is called
the highest, most fulfilled, awakened mind."
Is this awakened mind is Brahman?
SONG OF MYSELF - Walt Whitman - The Yankee practice of Vedanta -
breaking bad ?
@@pratik6342 Absolutely. Àsk the Swami!
He says something interesting at 32:53: "That which is at a lower level of reality does not affect the higher level of reality" but then in the same breath says "maybe his heart may pound a bit" .... well? That to me seems pretty much like some effect _did_ take place. That is to say, there is only an error in this if wakefulness is a higher reality. Is it?
2:45 4:15. 8:50. 10:12 till 14:20. 15:50 till
If karma runs in a lower level, does it mean the reincarnation will never end? What's the purpose of our life? Does the enlightenment affect the other lifes?
Swami ji,
Pranam!
If Turiyam is witnessing the everything, can it be said that everything (3 states + cosmic world/prakriti ) are just creation of Turiyam from the repository of experience it possess and also to create the new repository of experience within itself( concept of expanding entropy ).
Further, can it also be claimed that Turiyam also possess the sense of self/ego of itself(survival instinct )?
Please enlighten.
🙏
