One of my absolute favorite films! I actually lived on Burnside right off Wilshire. So I lived in this area for many years. I can’t believe I didn’t see the film until the 00’s! A friend of mine who has a locations blog invited me to join him and we went to all the locations as well. I even got into the building where they take the elevator to the top. Thankfully, we did it before many of them have been changed or gone. I used to pass that diner on my way to the $.99 store almost once a week. It’s expensive to live in Los Angeles. You have to buy your supplies there. 😉
Got to meet Whittingham and told her what a fantastic film I thought this was. So glad they finally put it on Blu-ray, and it’s getting the love it deserves.
Yup knocked this outa the park. Root For the Root 😂
Hahaha love it. Thank you so much!
Totally captivated once again. And what a fantastic real-life story for the two main characters! Thank you for your amazing storytelling🙌🏼⭐️
I was so happy to hear about Anthony and Mare! After watching the *outstanding* Oprah interview he appears in about the Leaving Neverland documentary, I became fascinated by him as a person. He was so vulnerable in such a powerful way in that interview and has talked about his work with 1 in 6 and the way sexual abuse affected his relationships and previous marriage. Anyway, I’m so happy he’s found healing and love with Mare now. I had no idea they were in this movie together at the beginning of their careers! ❤
What a treat! I loved the surprise with Anthony and Mare. So sweet! I remember seeing this movie when it first came out, and was blown away by the end. I worked on the Miracle Mile in 1988 at 5455 Wilshire...back when that building stuck out like a sore thumb because it was turquoise! And then some dumb ass painted it black. Thank you for this wonderful tour!!
Great job, such a wonderful story teller. Had me bust out laughing when you said they would find you in Cher’s outfit. Nicolas Cage impression was spot on.
I loved LA during these years!
So much that I learned! I was just there as a tourist (Academy Museum). I was amazed by the old May Co and the incredible diner. I took photos. Saw Cantors etc. This is before I watched your video. I love your knowledge of Hollywood actors! The way you sync up footage current and movie split screen! Thank you!!
How do we promote your channel? Wow - I've watched most of your videos and every story has been GREAT! I can't believe you only have 13k subscribers??? This is the BEST channels for Hollywood / old Hollywood. Must watch, Great Channel!!!!
Great 3 parter. Thanks for the locations and narrative. I really enjoy your releases. Thanks Justin.
I haven't heard of this movie before, but I have seen it since. Thanks for showing us the locations .
What a cool museum! Wow!
Yet another great story location tour! I've never seen the movie, but I enjoyed the tour immensely. Justin, you are a great storyteller.
Thank you!
Great story telling! I remember shopping at both Ohrbach's and the May Co.- back in the days when shopping was an event. I'm enticed to watch the movie. Thank you, Justin.
Ahhhhhh!!! 🥰 Still my favorite human ❣
Love your tours of movie history. I saw this film in the theaters when it came out. I also love the Miracle mile. I have shopped at the May Co. and Orbachs when they were a thing. I have been to LACMA in all of its incarnations this such. Nostalgia trip. I have a couple suggestions for future dives into Hollywood history, please visit the locations of the movie Echo Park this would be my choice for second feature on a double bill with this one. My other pick would be Falling Down. Lots of good places all over Los Angeles to explore. Peace
Wow! I wasn't sure what these videos were going to be about but now I must watch that movie. Had no idea this movie was made. I grew up in the 80s so this is nostalgic for me.
So cool! I used to live at Park Labrea!
This was amazing! I love all the background that you give on the actors and the filming sites. Thank you for doing these! You have me riveted ❤
I've never heard of this movie but will find it and watch it....These are all great videos you make keep them coming, and thanks 👍
They could have driven to LAX a thousand times in the timespan that they spent trying to get to the helicopter. It was great seeing all of these familiar places. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic as always. Thank you.
You’re just the best, loved this and never saw the movie.
I'm not sure this movie is for me. However your DESCRIPTION of this movie was super interesting and a lot of fun to watch! Thank you for all your hard work putting these together. I still think about the Carpenters videos that I watched a long while ago. ❤ (Edited to add much needed exclamation point!)
Wow that was good ! I stumbled across your videos and Im glad i did ,they are so interesting and u are a good story teller ! and every video is really good .TY keep up the good work !!!
Thanks
Late to finish the series, but thank you Justin! I very much remember the film and your deep dive and location visits are fantastic.
I know it's old Hollywood but wonder if you'd ever consider putting your touch on the murder of William Desmond Taylor? So many of the silent film stars involved... Mabel and Mary and was it a woman or a man? I can envision your magic with this one!
Sure you have a list 😊
Thanks again, no one knows the area and details like you do!
Well Done Again !! Thank You !
No thank YOU!
Hey Justin, stopped back by in February to say I am looking very forward to the next fabulous installment of whatever you do.
Also, can you recommend any nonfiction books on LA/Hollywood history? I love our town and I love reading about it.
We hope you're back soon.
Oh my. I loved the video tour but no way would want to watch that movie.
I love all of your videos. Have you ever thought about doing some on Elizabeth Short? AKA the Black Dahlia.
Thank you Sandy. I go back and forth with it because I feel like everyone has told that story but honestly I would love to. Funny you mention it because on the story I'm currently working on I mention her quite a bit.
@TheJustinRootShow Ooh! Can't wait. Still waiting for your Carol Burnett interview. But, you explained, so I'll be patient. LOL. Stay safe and take care.
@@sandywebb1987 Trust me I am dying to post it! AppleTV said they will let me know in a couple of months. Trying to exercise patience on this one is tough, hahaha!
Hey, Justin! I’ve been trying to remember the name of this movie for several years!! I was watching you and heard the name and I found it streaming on Tubi so I watchd it. Sorry!! Anyway, first saw it mentioned by Jordan Lee of Daze with Jordan Lee. Love your stuff. Keep it up!!
Did you like the movie? Pretty wacky huh? haha.
Not interested in the movie, but love LA backstories.👍🏽❤
