Bob Marley - Buffalo Soldier (With Lyrics)

- Опубликовано: 14 фев 2012
- "Buffalo Soldier" is a reggae song written by Bob Marley and Noel G. "King Sport" Williams from Marley's final recording sessions in 1980. It did not appear on record until the 1983 posthumous release of Confrontation, when it became one of Marley's best-known songs. The title and lyrics refer to the black U.S. cavalry regiments, known as "Buffalo Soldiers", that fought in the Indian Wars after 1866. Marley likened their fight to a fight for survival, and recasts it as a symbol of black resistance.
The song's bridge, with the lyrics woy! yoy! yoy!, is similar to the chorus of the Banana Splits' "The Tra-La-La Song", the 1968 theme from their TV show, written by N. B. Winkless Jr. There has never been any litigation connected to the similarity.
The song has been covered by many artists, including Cultura Profética (on their album Tribute to the Legend: Bob Marley), Vanilla Ice (on his 2008 album Vanilla Ice Is Back! and Randy Marsh. - Видеоклипы

Bob just gave a History Lesson in this Song!
My brother always listened to Bob Marley, and I never understood the music when I was younger and I didn’t like it, since his passing, I started listening to it in his memory and listening to the words and only after since his departure from this world, do I understand how meaningful, insightful, and inspirational all the words and Marleys music itself is. #Rasta4Life #LongLiveJah
This is precicely my case too . My brother Brian loved to play this music in his Renault 5 car during the Windsor Dam days in the 1980's near Ladysmith KZN .

@@paulcrawley442 You do realize the ignorance in your comment. Those Africans that this song references were stripped of their culture, histories, languages, and spiritual traditions.
They are primarily African Americans and many Caribbean's.
Due to the slave holocaust and the atrocities involved, one could not "sensibly" expect these people fully know of their African histories because it was beaten out of them.
Your comment was extremely offensive and disrespectful to American descendants of enslaved Africans.
Who were the Buffalo Soldiers: In 1866, a year after emancipation, an all-black calvary consisting of two infantry regiments were created after congress passed the Army Organization Act. The two regiments were the 9th and 10th Calvary regiments called the Buffalo Soldiers by the Native Americans that fought them. The Native Americans labeled them Buffalo Soldiers for the texture of their hair and the bravery they demonstrated during battle.
I,m native American and it took the buffalo soldiers to defeat natives

I love Bob Marley and thank god to cause i just found out the truth bout our american history thanks Bob
I, as European, apologise for what my ancestors did to the holy land of Africa🙌
It doesn't end with apologising, we all gotta help fight and make sure that the next person of colour and our neighbours aren't subjected to the lifestyle of back then. i.e condemning and calling out racism and hate directed towards people of colour [and to everyone in general really] wherever we see it. This is how we make a difference.
@@FJB_USA_1ST I know. I'm actually quite active about that.
Whites had made a Very deep and strong root of racism that still alives in the maximum people’s mind around the world, now we demands that we are so modern and we believe in equality but the practical situation is opposite, still the black skin deprives in their society, they still become a victim without doing any harm only because of their skin colour.
What An Excalent Lyrics...True Fact.. Words.Sir.... Buffalo Solider.....Sir Billions Hearts Missed . You....♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️..Legend of pop....Bob Marley..... In Indian Back ward community still Struggling...in America Black African Are still Struggling..To Survival.......👍👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯

Mackem Souljah loves Bob Marley a true Souljah of God and lyrical musical genius. There has never been anyone like him and never will be again. Unique man sent by God, taken by God.
"If you know your history
Then you would know where you coming from
Then you wouldn't have to ask me
Who the heck do I think I am"
a man who doesn't know his roots is simply lost in history
so right it a must to know our history

Always love this song, ever since the first time I listened to it 15 years ago. When I travel in Nepal, a small store owner was playing it, we chatted and he told me in broken English why he like this song ... It is one the few songs that truly has meanings, and relates to me at different stages of my life.
Msg meant a lot n today more so in the awakening of the us in the struggle 4 the black man....survival...

I feel nostalgic about Bob. A Jamaican fighting passionately for Africans.
Jamaicans are Africans. He fought for his ancestral home.
@@alwaysthinkrite876 Jamaicans are blacks not African. Africans are in Africa as a continent. This is a westernized mind set. Calling someone African-American because he is black but born in America
If you listen carefully.. you will see that Bob was fighting for everyone.. fighting against the unfair system.. injustice.. specially for the poor n the oppressed.
This legend is still alive in my heart

" Private Randall suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder and 11 lance wounds but recovered. The Cheyenne quickly spread word of this new type of soldier, "who had fought like a cornered buffalo; who like a buffalo had suffered wound after wound, yet had not died; and who like a buffalo had a thick and shaggy mane of hair."
