I havent played FF games yet cos I was too young at that time and multi cd games are expensive but Man this is still the best RPG game Ive had since past till now. Try Suikoden I too. The effects were ridiculous and funny but the storyline will make you make a pass for it.
I played 3 hoping for the magic to continue. Okay but not Suikoden 2 special. I hoped Suikoden 4 was better (maybe Konami learned their lesson? NOT!!) Suikoden 5 was good but still not quite Suikoden 2 special. I skipped Tactics and Tierkreis was one great big NOPE.

Nope, you just need to have a save file at the final save point in Suikoden I (at Greminister, prior to the final battle). I'm 90% sure that it has to be there. And make sure you load that save when asked in the beginning of the game.
You get Forgiver Sign if you get all 108 characters before Rockaxe Event. Although, when you recruit the non SoD Tir McDohl, you can see it before the actual event when you fight the Giant Moth.
Yeah, you have to use a Gameshark/AR in order to get two Jowys. To get McDohl you need to have previously loaded a Suikoden I save file when you start a new game. Then you can find and recruit McDohl near the end of the game.

Either have a completed Suikoden 1 save file, or use Gameshark, and when you get to Banner Village you'll be able to do a sidequest where he joins you until that sidequest is finished, then you can go to Gregminster and recruit him, but if you remove him from your active party, you'll have to go back to Gregminster every time you want him.

You can also use the level 3 spells of Rage/Thunder/Flowing/Cyclone/Mother Earth, they're the same thing as the level 4 spell of their respective runes. Suikoden 2 had the best rune animation in the entire series. Sad they don't look as good on the ps3 games. You would think they would have made them a lot better on 3, 4 and 5. Not going include tactics in this since it is a SRPG. Never expect much of their graphics. lol

I got it to work finally, its sorta over rated but kinda cool at the same time. I use ps7 v0.19, it works great for people like me who have no clue about other emulators
If only I could find this and 1...i've got 4 and 5 but when i try to find the others it's near impossible...the ones you do find are 900 or more....guess i'll never be able to play it sigh...
finally i get to see the full power of the shield rune,i never did get all 108 chars,so its nice to finally see that skill,thnx Unfortunately..this is where the real suikoden ends,the ones that came after,were crap.

Actually, gaining all 108 Stars Before you attack Matilda.. in other words, before the Death of Nanami. You can't gain it anymore after you attack Matilda even if you Just gain all of them.
Well, Suikoden III wasn't that bad of a game, I enjoyed all 150 hours that I spent on it. =D Suikoden IV, I admit, wasn't that great. It wasn't trash, but it had the worse MC I've ever seen. Snowe was cool though, I wouldn't have minded if he was the MC. Suikoden V was fantastic. I loved it as much as I and II. At least that game sparked a return in the series, since the downfall of IV. (I mean c'mon, the sailing sequences in IV were boring as ****)
Go find a .gme to .mcr converter. (Google helps.) Convert the .gme file to a .mcr and direct your emulator to read that .mcr file. I use ePSXe and it worked fine.

It was the Lvl 4 spell, Guardian Earth, from the Mother Earth Rune.
