It is common for most places, as long as you have common sense. Leave it unlocked in the States and you have to worry about people and animals (potentially bears) just opening it and walking in. People who don't are just very dense or so forgetful that it's a miracle they haven't been killed yet.

I asked him “Shouldn’t we at least talk on the phone first?” I could have been a catfish and could have milked him for all he was worth. Hell he could have bad intentions. I didn’t meet up with him, but he still sent me money and let me keep it even after I stopped talking to him. My point is there are some really stupid people out there.
