At the end I've added 2 live recordings of varying lo-fi quality. Not sure about what the first one was from, but the second is a Radio 1 in concert session around this time.
(Many thanks to youtuber Lol-Z who is uploading a ton of old The Tube shows from the 80s, which this has mainly come from.
    See his stuff on: / davisxl1 )
    From their website:
After an untold amount of live work in their native North East of England, they were finally snapped up by A&M RECORDS in 1981 and the DANCECLASS album was recorded and released in 1982. Produced by Mike Chapman, the album failed to capture the raw energy of their live sound but there is no getting away from the fact that these were indeed brilliantly crafted songs for their genre. Penned by Dave Taggart and Tony Mcananey with additional material by Ali Reay, the DANCECLASS repetoire of highly energetic and often humurous powertunes have stood the test of time

Utterly brilliant Sunderland band, superb musicianship, and a sensational, pitch perfect frontman/singer in DT 👏🏼 to see them live was something else, the energy, the great songs and the sound they made as a tight unit - fantastic doesn't even come close. Saw them loads, local gigs were always packed out, got the album and the 12" single.
Criminal they never hit the big time, still one of the best bands and frontmen singers I've ever seen live 👌🏼

I've been racking my brains trying to remember the name of this band. Great to find this.

Absolutely brilliant! Used to go and watch Danceclass at Churchills in Whitley Bay in 1982 every other Tuesday - they packed the place out and were the best band around by far. I'm pretty sure Brian Johnson was up singing one night, as well as Jimmy Nail before he was famous. Just good to see some footage and hear the songs again. 👍

Is Tony McAnaney on bass the same guy who starred in and wrote the theme track for Spender?
