- Hey guys! I thought it would be cool to show you guys what PCAs/PCTs/CNAs do at a hospital! If you are interested in what we do, watch this video! PCAs play such an important role in caring for hospital patients and making sure they safe, clean, and comfortable. I hope you learned something from this video! If you are a nursing student deciding whether or not you should be a PCA or CNA, I highly recommend it! Thank you all for watching :)
What's in the Video:
PCA Badge Buddy: amzn.to/30vq0sj
Apple Watch Band (Stone): amzn.to/2WBHD8A
Small world...I'm an RN at the same hospital! You just happened to show up in my suggested videos. Great job and great representation of how awesome our PCAs are. I seriously could not do my jobs without you all.
Is this Yale hospital?
What unit are you in? I just got hired at the same hospital
@@kimdezdez congratulations 🎉
Wow finally a nurse that recognizes that we are useful hope they are treating Pca’s with respect not like in the hospital i work at 😔 and we get 12 patients instead of 5
I’ve been a nurse for 25 years. We need more CNAs like you. Well done young lady!
My name is cherry claire gonzales from manila, philippines and I am 43 y.o married with 3 kids. I worked as nursing asst here in manila, how can I apply ti your company? I am interested. Thanks u,
Thanks for working for our health ❤️ god bless you!
If you did have her im sure you'd work her body down by asking her to fulfill MAJORITY of your patients needs ON TOP of everything else shes doing.. Doing that probably would discourage her from wanting to be a nurse so no how about we rephrase YOU as a nurse shouldn't need more cna's YOU need to just do your job in full you're a nurse you're not there to just sit and "chart".. She should steer clear of nurses looking for "good cna's" and find a gig 1:1 that pays good stress and nurse free.. there's so many out here
@@mschosen20001I agree with you on this! Most RN’s think patient care techs are there to be maids to them! This is just how EVS workers are treated on the floors! Whenever they say oh we need more good CNAs or good EVS workers like you that just means they only praise you cuz they think of you as a servant a slave not an actual human being! It’s a shame😔
I take my PCT test next week and I graduate High School next month!!
Update: I Passed with a score of 422🥰
What kind of math is it? Omg
Congratulations 🎉👏🏾
I’ve been an aid for about 10 months, it’s been a pretty good experience overall, though I am excited that I finish nursing school next month! It is so cool that your hospital allows you guys an hour break/nap in between sitting that’s awesome. I sit for 8-12 hours straight sometimes with only my 30 min lunch break to recharge. Much love to all my fellow health care workers ❤️
Lol me too. My jaw dropped at an hour!
Im a PCT and the work at my hospital has been too much but i am thankful that i can work a little better with the nurses. WE are stronger when we work together!
I'm a Health Care Assistant and I can totally relate to this vlog . I love night shift, its quiet and the time flies so fast. Keep making this kind of vlog. 😊
Hi Karla what d do I need to become a health care assistant?
Am a nurse...Health Care Assistants are the best! The only people who understand nurses,I always feel comfortable whenever I see HCA on shifts..love you
Hi Mary, is HCA a marketable course in kenya?
@@miriammuturi6595Hi..yes it is,in bigger facilities
I m from Pakistan I want to come USA..... I m general nurse
@@miriammuturi6595 can you help me get a job
Most definitely I’m a Medical assistant we do A LOT I have nurses telling me they couldn’t do my job lol 😆
Wow! I’m a CNA at a nursing home and I wish we had wipe warmers, because when it’s time to change everyone at 4 am and getting cold wipe to the bum earns a annoyed resident 😂
I love the vibes & music! This was super educational and entertaining too. I felt like I was right there with you during your shift. I love it, and can’t wait to see more content!
I'm so glad! :)
@@okshuaso you haven’t uploaded in 3 years are you an RN now or a med student?
I was a critcal care pct nursing assistant for 18 plus years. I worked days night shifts 3 to 11pm. God bless you
OMG, I can’t thank you è bought for this video. I am applying for a PCA position, and I had no idea. You’re life saver.
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’m getting my PCT cert. right now and i start working in May so this really gave me great insight! Thank you ☺️
Hey dear,,,, where are you applying to?
Tomorrow is my first night working NOC. I’m pretty excited. This video made me feel confident.
I worked as a CNA / PCT. Also on the 11p - 7a. Shifts. For 3 years... Its an extremely stressful job. The hardest part for me was always my co workers and other nurses. I don't know why that is. Maybe stress. I don't know if I could do it again. Good luck on your shift !
Im having the same issue right now, what do you do now?
@@bohegegaming5795 unfortunately I developed alot of mental health issues back in 2011. Not because of being a CNA. But from being homeless. So I get disability income now for that. But I often think about trying to be a CNA again. I just don't know if I could handle the stress again. I think I might be a better social worker anyway given I got that experience now as a former psychiatric patient too.
@@patrickanarchy-official5662 I'm sorry to hear that. I've also been thinking about social work, as I'd love to be a therapist but I'm not sure if I'll find work with that career
@@bohegegaming5795 there is plenty of work available as a social worker. The best positions require a MSW . But you can get started with an associates or bachelor degree too.
Thank you so much for doing this for us nurses and our patients. I wish we had more PCAs like you
I really enjoyed the video! The music was so soothing! I would love to see more vids on being a PCT
P l e a c e g I v e m e a c h a n c e
Hey girl! Absolutely enjoyed this vid!! I’m applying to a bunch of PCA jobs and this vid was very interesting + informative. 👏🏻
My first day out of training is tomorrow ❤️ I’m nervous
Mines was last night. I’m right with you. I think once I establish a routine it will be ok. Good luck!!!!
Am starting it soon too
Where are you from
Aww I love your work schedule. I work 7pm to 7am 🤗
I AM
starting a new shift 6pm to 6am
3 days as Caregiver/Med Tech in Memory Care. How does one stay awake to make the transition from days to nights? Thank You 🙏 and a big thank you to ALL Health Care Workers!
Nice! This video showed more of the technical stuff that I missed on other videos. Thanks for posting it!
Your hospital is so nice!! I'm a pct in Spain in quite an old hospital and I just felt a bit jealous and a bit in love with your hospital haha
aw! thank you! my hospital is a combination of the older & newer units. I work in the new building for more critical patients that's why it's more modern. otherwise the medical-surgical floors or more general care is located in the older hospital which is built in 1872!
I start training tomorrow I’m so excited but so nervous too! You’re video is awesome btw!
How’s it going so far
This is such a great video. I really like it how you show a step by step process of what’s its like to be a Patient Care Tech. One day I would really like to work in a hospital 🏥.
Thanks for this video! I’m a fairly new PCA and really want to be a great PCA, so looking for all the tips I can find!
I currently work with a home care company but working at a hospital seems soooooooo cool
I love this video I am so happy when I pounce upon it I watch to end and subscribe right away
I wish we also hv patient care assistants..coZ we could spare some time in doing extra works.great job dear
Hi Shua, I just finished re-watching all your vids! Looking forward to your next one and seeing where a year has taken you! sending well wishes!
excellent. Thanks for the the knowledge and experience. May it be a field of blessings for all of us amen
Very detailed and insightful! Love it.
! I liked the video , music and the tips of course . I´m a CNA in Brazil and it´s nice to know what CNA´s routine in USA is like . Thanks for sharing Shua
Omg I start next week training thank you. I work with RN who said that all I’m doing is emptying poop all day and bathing. Thank you for the clarification
I start training as a PCA next week or two. I am super nervous. Any tips would be appreciated❤
thank you so much of the video I'm so excited to start my new job as a PCT and your video really help me
I have to say the warm wipe is good , I was also work as health care assistant, actually we use the form spray for cleaning the buns and most people feel cold with that
❤Awesome video ima about to start working 10:30-7 am thank you very helpful ❤
Hi! I was looking into becoming a patient assistant and wanted to ask for some tips or know what a regular day may look like! I still a college student heading towards nursing so I wanted to see if this would be the best fit for me!
I saw your illenium shirt and IMMEDIATELY subscribed
Wow! I like the fact that this hospital has a room to take a power nap🤩🤩
From India..love to see your video...now I am pursuing M.sc in community health nursing
May I ask what is the difference between Healthcare assistant and patient care officer/assistant?
One of the best vids on the topic LOVE it thank you so so much!!!
Love this and drink the same tea ☕️❤️🙏🏽
I love tea
great video girl! please post more nursing vlogs :)!
Definitely!!
I’m studying to be a Nurse... and what I still cant seem to wrap my head around is how you know what the heck needs to be done... like I need to carry a dang checklist with me or something
I work on ortho unit too as a pca night shift heyyy girl❤️
I’m just finished my HHA school so next top is going to be CNA 🙌🙌🙌
Become a Patient Care Technician , graduate in 9 months by being full time students, you obtain your CPR, CNA, EKG, Phlebotomy and of course your PCT . It’s a vary fast phase but I highly recommend it
PCAs and PCTs rock ♥️
GURL 😂😂😂😂 U FUNNY talking about how we really give reports
You have to give reports to the RNs that’s literally your job!
THIS was so nice watching 🥰
Do that position along help support your lifestyle
Only 15 dollars an hour you do the math!
I work a 12 hour night shift and I wish we had a room to nap in while on break
7 real reasons why nurses quit their job
1. Staffing
2. Staffing
3. Staffing
4. Staffing
5. Staffing
6. Staffing
7. Staffing
@Chink Positive What? I heard since the pandemic they are making mad money.
I’m a pca and Last week I left my nurse overwhelmed with 13 patients. We are extremely short staffed, pcas and nurses, especially at night. Retail is paying more than what our hospital pays pcas, a lot of them are quitting, the ones left are part time because they’re in nursing school. Nurses are stressed and unhappy, a lot of them are quitting and the ones left have a high patient to nurse ratio.
@@Leti_10 investment is the key now
I work 10 to 7 love ya for making this
Im currently in school for HCA! I'm excited to start clinical.
So my hospital has a room too to relieve yourself for about 30 minutes. They frown on anyone using that except for night shift.
Awww I know what hospital you are at, I did my internship there, my aunt works there along with a few former coworkers and friends. I actually work over at Gillette Childrens where you passed by at this start of the video. I was like wait a minute! that's my work! lol
Just got a job as night shift cna in surgical unit. I’m nervous
I loved the video ! As a HCA I could relate to this haha ! I’ve decided to share my story on my channel too ! ❤️
Can I ask a dumb question I want to become a PCT but what about report and charting is it very hard to learn
I love change of shift
You're adorable I love your content a a job well done
Wow what state are you in? I work as a pca in FL and the shift is 7p-730a. No breaks, would be lucky to get 10 min to sit down in peace. :(
No breaks in 12 hours ????? Isn't that illegal? Wtf
@@goldengirl7625 Yes,it is illegal. Smh
It's illegal. But when I was a cna/pct . It happened almost every shift .I was usually by myself with 2 nurses back then. I Should have spoken up sooner. I think was young and too passive too say anything.
I am a PCA too ion my hometown of Jackson, Mississippi and my name is Elisa Edwards I watch patient are comfortable and clean too
I am possibly going to train at a hospital for PCA I've worked all office jobs and retail prior nothing extravagant yet but thought this would be a good way to slide in to the healthcare field. I'm a little worried I may be too old though at 45. Do you see older PCA/CNA's?
finally someone with my same situation. though i live in the other side of the world im 43 and worked only in sales ,security jobs and finally hospital clerk , im finishing my CNA course now ,the medical field is kind of intimidating dealing with sick people everyday but I need this progress in my life educationally & financially😀
Im a senior in the health academy CA Bay Area. My course class has this option instead of a regular senior defense. Are exams are paid for and i'm thinking about taking the course but i'm still choosing if I should take the extra course. I like medical field, And my class learned a lot about the body r knots, phlebotomy. I was undecided, But seeing this change my mind.
Wow an hour break and designated place to take a nap? We are prohibited from sleeping at any time while we are at work, including on break. Break is only 30 minutes and that's only if you have time. That goes for nurses/techs/medics. Wow. I wish our hospital cared that much about us. But they sure are quick to offer overtime bc they're short staffed.
Do you get to sleep when it's slow?
Hi. Thank you so much i learnt a lot already lol. I would like to study for this job. Would you mind helping me how i can start?
You are an amazing employee!!!!
Very informative. Thx
i wish the hospital i worked at had a nap room for our nightshifters lol
very nice video gurl.. keept it up!
Hope all pca are like you!!
I just moved to Texas from California and I don't know (if there's any) the differences between CNA's , PCA's and PCT's. Can anyone explain it to me??
Good start if you want to be a nurse.
Thanks so much the video is very educative Thanks once again
Cool!
Is this Saint Paul MN? I live here and am just curious which hospital it is! It looks so much like the capital and cathedral In your city view.
It is! I see the sign says Regions Hospital. I just applied here!
I literally just got hired as PCA at the same hospital, I'm so excited to start my journey. Are you still there?
such a good video!
You are amazing!!!
I am also a nurse assistant. I am a Saudi. I work in a government hospital in Riyadh. I asked my boss at work to complete my studies in nursing. They refused. They say your specialization is of no value.
Hello i love your vid it made me want to do patient care ❤❤❤ keep doing more
you should definitely look into it! we need more PCAs :)
I am registered as a CNA under the IDPH, how much more different is a CNA than PCT? Any tips for the PCT exam?
You are awesome! I'd hire you on the spot:) Well, done.
I want to do this looks so cool.. do you have to have experience or an certificate to get employed?
Yes. Complete a 20-27 week training course for certification as well as obtaining your GED if you don’t already have one. After that, youre good to go :)) I’m working in my course right now since im finally old enough lol
@Saving All my Love It can definitely be, but I’d also suggest looking into an instructor that can allow you to have hands-on experiences. I am currently doing an online course due to covid, but my teacher is sending the things we need to be interactive with the lessons :)
nice video, new sub !!
aww thanks :)
Hi! For your night shift, how many days do you work per week?
What unit do you work?
can you please tell background music name?
Shoot 5 patients is a breeze, try 6 more of them headaches. Lol ❤😅
love your scrubs, which ones are you wearing?
figs!
Hello beautiful i would like know if you change diapers for your residents every times when u work..? Thank you
I am a nursing student and I do badly want to be a PCA in the meantime, but I am so scared because I have low upper body strength and I am so afraid of not being able to properly assist a patient. Any advice?
Nice video! Are you from Madison? I'm also an aide!
Starting my first shift tomorrow
I’m nervous 🥺
Congratulations on the job. Omg, how did it go?
@@stephaniemerJ it went pretty well. Thank you

I have no medical training bedides working in a care facility for 3 years handling patients ,taking vitals ,doing physical exercises with them , etc is there a chance i can become an patient care assistance or is there something else i need?? It told me minimum requirement was high school diploma and a more advanced cpr training
