Choosing med school over being a $75K bench player for 3 years is a big win.

Monika put out an in depth TikTok yesterday explaining her future in basketball and med school. Said she's retired from basketball

No, Monica is a bright woman that could do anything she wants. I believe she is off to chase her dreams in the medical field.

I saw a video where Monica put in two powerful screens/blocks for Caitlin. I don't mean in the same game, I mean ON THE SAME PLAY. Like CONSECUTIVE BLOCKS. They were textbook.

I always enjoyed watching Monica play. She had great hands and her footwork was precise. Wonderful shooting skills and tough...a good Teammate. I wish her the absolute best.

I think she will goto medical school just like Warnock went to dental school. I can hear Coach Bluder saying Iowa's goal was to grow future leaders. I am so happy they all are pursuing their dreams.

Med school is no joke, at least in the US. After you do all your post grad work you have to do an internship and there’s a reason why you almost never see practicing MDs under 28 or so.
Credit to her for pursuing such an intense profession. I do think she’s good enough to play ball but she might just not want to play pro anymore.
Like Lexie Hull’s twin sister. She just wanted to do something else, even though it would be a huge draw to have twins that looked and played like that on the same team.

EVERYONE on Iowa's team also said Monika was the BEST teammate: super positive, tremendously supportive, endlessly fun to be around. There's a great clip of her hugging C22 after their las loss to LSU, very close relationship: ruclips.net/user/shortskC_1_cV6Bn4. Her younger sister, Maggie, is playing for Minnesota. And Monika really had tremendous hands: could catch almost anything and she had a little hook shot that was almost unstoppable.

After Monika graduated, the pick and roll with Stuelke didn't seem to work as smoothly . Stuelke didn't seem to have the hands , but by the end of the season was playing better . Thise season she seems to have taken another step up .

As long as she's happy. I would have liked to see her in the W, but we can't always get what we want.

I wish nothing but the best for Monika. I wonder why WNBS scouts/coaches don't think she's capable of playing in the W. I think she'd be a great power forward. She and CC were magic together.

Only way she comes back is a a physio for the Fever. Shame I thought she showed potential but good luck to her. The thing was she and C# were on a different level of simpatico on the court not really seen as close a pairing on court for C# since.
She probably only played the one year as a professional to get the monies to pay for Med School as in the USA it isn't cheap.

The CC system is different than other systems so some players may only be avg in 1 type & be a star in another.
I hope the fever consider this and think outside the box when filling the roster, there is a lot of talent out there that wont be found traditionally, players that have been dismissed or over looked that didn't fit in the basic Wnba style, I would hold a open gym.

In 22-23 season Berger/Holmes were every bit as lethal as CC/MC with Mac averaging about 10 pts/game more than Czinano and Berger with a better assist/TO ratio than CC. Trade Smith for Holmes and she’d be a great backup to AB.

I would not mine if Martin and Gustafson was on the Fever. Gustafson has game. Martin is not being utilized by the Aces. Martin needs to be set up for shots. Martin can run and is exceptionally on fast breaks. Overall the Fever has to improve the bench. They will cut the deadwood this year. If they are here when the season start, then they have to have a role.

I've been advocating for a Kelsey Mitchell trade for weeks now. It's not that I don't think she's a helluva scorer and transition player, it's more about getting someone who can be the best fit possible, which in my opinion is Kelsey Plum, who is a unrestricted FA who might be interested in coming to the Fever. The Aces also might be interested in acquiring KM via a KM/Nalyssa Smith type swap for Plum/Kate Martin. The Aces benefit by getting a scoring machine in Mitchell and also some much needed size to complement Wilson while the Fever get another playmaker/ballhandler to allow CC to roam off ball more (like her Iowa days) and also focus on more on putting up points and hopefully cut down on those pesky turnovers, especially in the halfcourt setting.
CC would still log 6-7 dimes a game finding players in transition but where she got most of her turnovers last year was in the halfcourt making too many risky hero passes teying to set up teammates. I'd prefer more of her focus be on scoring 30 a game like her Iowa days. And Martin off the bench would add a solid rotational player and most importantly adds another sharpshooter who can open up the floor for both CC/Plum to carve up defenses. Plum would add some much needed stability to this team in my opinion.

Don't know why people want to bring in 3 Star players that CC played with in Iowa, to play with her now. The WNBA is full of 5 Star players. The Fever have 8 -5 Star players on their team. Wallace and Fagbenle were 4 Star players. Wheeler ranking was 2009 and was not ranked. Dantas played in Brazil. Let CC play with HS All Americans who had good college careers. Not going to win WNBA Championships with mid talent players.

      @gitoffmahlawn 3 дня назад +5

What's surprising to me though, is how crappy most of these 4-5 stars look in the W. They miss layups, can't catch passes. CC's Iowa 3 stars run the floor and hit their marks.

Tom Brady was a 6th round draft pick. Player evaluation in any sport is NOT a precise science.

Were you not paying attention when those Iowa teams full of three stars were beating those teams loaded with 5's? Complimentary pieces will beat a team of 'all-stars' who don't play well together.
