This is the music I love the most. Hard driving and loud. Child of the 60’s here. Lemmo was all over it. Forget everything else, he brought it today with spades!!
AMEN!
Respect!
2003 Gibson Les Paul Custom Alpine White my favorite ❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥
That was a funny one, and awesome playing as usual. Great sounding guitar. Thank you Lemmo Jen and Brandon. Haven’t heard Rat on guitar of the day before. Nice selections
Don’t forget about Justin Hawkins from The Darkness as well!
I always think of mid 70's kimono wearing Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac when I see a white Les Paul Custom. Especially the song "I'm So Afraid".
I have never heard more of a 1960’s vibe come from a 2003 instrument. Well played!
Here’s to all the rockers! 🎸 🤘🏼🤘🏽. Lemmo on 🔥.
this and the black beauty are my #1 dream guitars
Good job Laying it Down.
all of them have maple caps, except the 57 and 54 reissues (and other rarer 1954-1960 reissues) as well as the original 50s ones.
⚓️ Thanks Jen Brandon Mike 😎
The great guitar player James Dean Bradfield of the Manic Street Preachers’ relies heavily on his 1990’s Alpine White Gibson Custom Shop guitar, although he has modified the pickups on it several times.
I saw a documentary when he teared up talking about that guitar
NOTHING sounds like a Les Paul. Nothing. And you did it right, Michael! Great job Jen and Brandon!
That was off the charts , that guitar is lethal ! Gotta have it
I bet its worth about 8 grand. Anybody know ?
I've had this exact guitar sitting in my Reverb cart for probably six months. Love it.
Hey did you buy it? My 2003 is one serial number before this one. Sisters
You guys are having way too much fun!!! Great sounding LP!
I feel like you should add the British experience (Nick Dias) and make this a trio performance, with jen doing her thing you guys have something going here. Love NRG Jen,Micheal,Brandon,Nick, and Norm you are the king of the guitar world.
Lay it down!! My life is complete!! Holy balls Mikey!!
That is a super cool demo! Love the work (and the love) you guys put into these videos.
That thing has some crunch, wow! Great demo of the LP sounds.
Guys, one of the best guitar players in the world plays one of those for many years: James Dean Bradfield from Manic Street Preachers.
I just want to thank Michael for keeping inspiring me to grab the Guitar after every video, i still can't forgot the demo of the 1964-65 Fender Stratocaster..... he is just a non-stop guitar force!
It sure is a joy to watch someone who has mastered their craft. 🤘🏾
This is for NORM, I saw quite a few Low score reviews on google about NORMS’s store that an appointment is needed in order to visit the store ( COVID measure I assume) but also people are complaining when they go to the store some of the stuff not being so friendly including Norm. Do you guys have anything to say about that?
i wonder if he played the whole lotta love riff wrong on purpose? guitar sounds awesome!
Thanks Mike and Brandon, great to hear, How Many more times been played, from my favourite Led Zeppelin album.
What a machine ! Great great playing as always! Thanks for this channel. A daily pleasure !
I enjoy turning in to the guitar of the day for your all laid back sharing a history of each make then to hear them being played with there different hand woundpickup all aspects that gives these instruments there edge over each other that a craftsman or Luthiers have achieved since the 50s Jen Brandon Mike have opened doors of insight once it was my ears now my eyes stay laid back and cool for ever more love you all Norm
Always a good laugh, great guitars and some great guitar playing when you tune into #GuitarOfTheWeek Lemmo played RATT's Lay it Down, I mean come on!! Thank you Jen for filming these funny guys!
I had one of these it got stolen in 2008. Never had the chance to get another one.
Still would love another one to this day.
Didn't Lindsey Buckingham use an LP Custom back in the day too?
Been waiting for some Ratt for sooooooo long. That is such a sick riff. Always appreciate the 80s shredders getting their recognition. Doing my part by teaching my toddlers how to sing “Lay it Down.”
Man Mike you jump into Jimmy pages shoes today. And the 2003 less Paul in Alpine white was honking. Just sounded powerful. And in controll. I look forward to watching you play. I smile after watching you play.
Man that guitarist, and that guitar, rock out!
aaaaaand that's the best sounding guitar that's been on this show yet. love your playing. ✌🏻🇺🇸
Quick fact check fact check. The 50’s custom bodies were made from a single piece of mahogany. Since the custom was reintroduced in 1968, it has had maple cap. 50’s reissues also have the all hog body construction, but the vast majority of customs, including today’s GOTD, have maple caps.
Absolutely great video!!!
Oh I love it when Mr. Lemmo ROCKS!
holy smokes!! The guitar was smoking!!! lemmo + Gibson Custom is just pure awesome!!
This isn’t a ‘50s reissue. There is a maple cap on a ‘standard’ Les Paul Custom.
That guitar is curious.
I had a 2003 black Custom and it didn’t have the custom shop stamp on the back of the neck, just a normal factory Les Paul stamped serial number. Maybe 2003 was a transitional year where they changed from the regular line to the faux “Custom Shop” serials.
The case was identical however.
The knobs on that Alpine White should be black and I’m not sure the truss rod cover is original either, nevertheless a beautiful guitar
@@thesmith1526 Indeed. The knobs and truss rod cover aren’t stock. The biggest flag of it having a maple cap is having a Nashville tune-o-matic.
I don’t know many people who would change from an ABR-1 to a Nashville. I would never do that to my R9.
I’ve had a LPC before, and it’s almost exactly like this one. They’re trying to copy that RR vibe, but there’s nothing like a real ‘70s LPC; my in-laws have an amazing one, and these white ones’ lacquer topcoat turn yellow easily.
Wild! Fantastic playing today Sir! Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
I absolutely LOVE my '03 Standard. Such a great player. Something happened in '02-'03 where Gibson were on top of their game
What colour is yours? I have an 03 Standard in Light Burst and I absolutely love it, bought it brand new and have done hundreds of gigs with it, it's the best guitar I've ever played. I try other guitars and they just don't compare. Have been looking for an 03 SG to add to the collection too
@@davidwicksmusic ebony. I'm not sure of it's history. Bought it used and it's definitely been gig'd. Has so much mojo. Looks 20 years older than it actually is and plays like a dream. The good ones get played!!
@@yrmthr so true! I bought mine from new and I estimate I've done a few hundred gigs with it. It looks and feels well played and oozes mojo now. I'll be buried with that guitar!
Outstanding playing Michael, you are a fine musician!
Yes! One of my favorite RATT songs. Lay It Down. Great playing man
Actually, some models in recent years from Gibson doesn't have the fret nibs. I don't remember which models, but I saw it on Trogly's Guitar Show. Ole Trog' knows his Gibsons, that's for sure.
One of my top 3 fav. guitarist play and main, on stage, an Alpine White LP - James Dean Bradfield - of the Manic Street Preachers = amazing guitar player...(He also used a Jazzmaster on one of my fav MSP songs, "This Is Yesterday")
Would be awesome to if Lemmo did a Manics cover!…. although I bet nobody has even heard of them 😩
Dont Lie Michael because your the 1 that always locks him in the Bathroom 🤣Very Nice demo guitar sounds Amazing Jimmy And Warren would be proud !!!
If they make a mistake during the re-fret….is it called a “nib slip”?
Lemmo always kills it!! Enjoy every video!
Professor ‘Spec Check’! Fret Nibs!! Yes’m!!👍🏻😎
Uncle Bob knows! Great demonstration, fantastic content!
The sound from that guitar was fire. Hot ax and great playing Michael. You three have a stand up comedy show going in the back room. 😅
Fantastic Jimmy Page tutorial by Michael Lemmo. I love it! And the alpine white sounds amazing. Guitar sold separately. Lemmo not included 🤣
You knocked it out of the park today!
I went to high school and college in the 70's this gave me refer flashback 🙃
That last song was ripping, sounded amazing on that guitar!
Rockmachines.
Lemmo and that LP.
Thanks, great one.
Great job MICHAEL!!!!
Nice!
Luv ya Lemmo! Always getting something special from this guy 👍
nice lay it down, AWESOME
John Stewart played one on GOLD with Lindsey Buckingham.
Another great and entertaining video! Love the addition of spec check. In the spirit of providing more information would you consider adding the signal chain used for each video to the description section? I know you always tell which amp but would also be nice to know any pedals employed. Not so much to promote them but to understand overall sound that much more. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Funny story, I was checking out this white les paul because frank iero and ray used it and then you mentioned them. And now it's my mission to get one. Obsessed👁️👄👁️
Beautiful guitar, great playing, tuning went way outta wake soon😉
Monster sound
Mike you went ballistic!!
Fabulous playing
Mike Lemmo Paige!
Love the videos
This guitar really slaps. Great demo, the energy is amazing.
Wow!
What a show!
Brandon being cheerful, funny and instructive.
Jen behind the scenes physically except for the best manicured purpe nails, encouraging words and eye to the lens
Jack with a comic cameo.
Lemme with the amo, play that funky music white boy. Amazing feel and fingers to the strings.
And the star of the show, besides Norm,
the Les Paul Custom.
Rock and roll is here to stay.
Hooch coo.
You can't beat the tone of a really good LP........boy it's something special. Nice to see Norm tickling the ivory's on his organ.....keep well Norm, we luv's you Down Under. :)
Beautiful instrument!!
Damn that was smokin hot. When I closed my eyes it was 1969. Those are tough songs to play solo and sound good but Lemmo killed it as usual. I might have to pull the LP out from under the bed tomorrow 😁
This guy is professional...
This thing rips bro😭 i love gibsons
what a ride...
And That’s What A Paul Does!!!👍🔥🤘🏼💪🏼
I love les paul customs.
Epic pick slide!
Brandon is a fantastic addition to guitar of the day! The extensive detail was one of the reasons why I originally subscribed and enjoyed listening to Mark
No, he’s annoying
Just thought I would correct an error in your vid…a 2003 Gibson Les Paul Custom would have a maple cap. Unless this is some special release though it appears to be a regular model which would give it the maple cap as per usual…
Hey, I'm teachin' over here!
I'm listening!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man that was killer. That first riff on the neck pickup
Don’t know how I missed that. Thanks man
Brandon is the salesman and Mike is the closer
You know you're a guitar nerd when you think fret nibs is cute, LOL. Love it!
Great episode!
Randy Rhoads 👍🏻
Nibs and shredding 🥃😂😁👍 seriously great tone spot on man and Brandon😂
That's rock'n'roll right there 🎸🎸
Never a bad edition of this show.
Could someone tell me what is the first song Lemmo played (at 5:50), please 🙂 ??
Great GOTD very pretty LesPaul. Killer guitar work Michael. Led Zeppelin and( Ratt ?). Miss Jen fine camera work as always! Hmmm guess spec check is part of GOTD now 😎 cool.
WOWWWWWW
Mick Jones formerly of The Clash & Justin Hawkins of The Darkness use Alpine White Les Paul's
The silky black colored cover on the interior the case that Soriano pointed out is called a 'Shroud'. And yes its adds some minor protection. These can be bought on many websites and added to your 'Shrouldless' Les paul case, Or SG case.
Not a maple cap? I thought these modern customs all had maple caps unless they were 50s reissues that were solid mahogany.
James Dean Bradfield circa '96
Sounds like Ratt to me. Great job Michael- very talented!!
