BSPP VS BSPT VS NPT

- This video looks at three different types of pipe threads. British Parallel Pipe, or BSPP, is the easiest to identify, because the threads are straight, not tapered. This type of thread seals with either an o-ring at the base of the fitting or a 60 cone on the inside of the fitting. The other two types of pipe threads are tapered and require nothing other than the threads to seal against hydraulic pressure. BSPT and NPT threads are so similar, sometimes the only way to tell them apart is to have a thread pitch gauge. Another clue is to know what type of machine you're working on. NPT threads are slightly bigger than BSPT, so they won't screw into a BSPT port more than a few threads. Be careful!!! #carolinahydraulichose #bspp #bspt #npt
Wonderful style of explanation
The presenter has a strong pitch sound🎉
Great video.
The taper is the same between the two tapered threads, .0625 per inch, or 3/4 per 12 inches. However, as with the diameter being different the BSPT has a Whitworth thread profile with 55 degree flanks, where the NPT is 60 degree as is true with metric and UN thread types.
Good video. I love using my thread gauge. It's a way to impress your friends
Thanks, really good.
No the saying
Cross threaded is better than loctite!
Lmao.
Lmao that’s one I’ve never heard, but will be using often 🤣🤣🤣
npt wont SCREW in to bspp its slightly BIGGER.
Correct!!

Thank for this video. I got an idea now. I have a water pressure tank need to be replace. its connection is BSPP but the replacement is BSPT, would that spell trouble for me?
If you’re trying to use your old hose then yes. BSPP will not screw into BSPT. 😕
Can bspp fitting with bspt??
No, unfortunately
