Besides that i have the automatic one (motorized manual gearbox) feels really intuitive as well. Just a mather of gettting used to for a few kilometers. And it's a Daihatsu Gearbox just as the 3cilinder motor is, meaning bullet proof.

I wonder what you would have made of my first car, a Ford Pop, which had a 3-speed non-synchromesh gearbox - it was necessary to double de-clutch to match engine speed with road speed on all up and down gear changes. Modern cars make driving effortless.
Great review I had the original Aygo which I used mostly on the motorway. Even after doing 30k miles a year for 3 years in it, it was still very enjoyable. Surprisingly reasonable on a motorway. Like the look of the new model

I test drove this Aygo and all I can say is Aygo is quieter than 2018 VW Golf and drives very well. Fast enough and the max speed is 180kph easily 0-100 in 10 sec. Quality of Aygo is much much better than VW Up.

Absolutely brilliant review - I currently own a 2010 C1 and want all of the new technology to bring my car up to speed. I live in a town and only have to commute 15 minutes to work, so my C1 is perfect. It isn't the fastest on the motorway and it isn't able to overtake, unless you're talking about a bicycle, but it can reach 70 and it drives well - for this price range and size of car, I don't need anything else in that respect. The insurance group and fuel economy is brilliant, especially as a younger driver who finds themself being hit with new driver excesses and so forth. Tax is also cheap! Most city car reviews always talk down on the rear passenger and boot space, but you've highlighted that this car isn't focused on that for it's purpose which is really important to remember. You thoroughly explained all the pros and cons of each trim level and you're review was relative throughout. Top notch :)
I've just ordered another Aygo for March 2020, great on motorways and overtakes with little issue. Had a 2017 one previously so looking forward to getting apple car play that they've just added to the X play model.

X-Play still the 'best' value : I've had 2007 / 2014 and now Nov 2018 new-style models - this new one is the best of a great batch. Slick off the mark, quiet, extremely comfortable for a 6-footer at the wheel, and very eye-catching in white, plus I had the red lower-door inserts and the front and back red "splashes" added by the dealership before delivery. I am user of Toyota Aygo model 2010, I bough the Toyota Aygo 1.0 VVT-I X-PLAY (manual transmission) model 2020 with 12.000 kilometer (7456.5mi) I have add extra a Cruise Control. Do you think this will reduce my fuel consumption even further?
I drive the automated gearbox version and now use the +paddle changer most of the time. (The software revs are set too high between changes for my taste.) I think its a useful feature.
I think they've finally got the styling spot-on. Compared to the 2014 facelift, which to me looked rather 'stuck-on graphics X' at the front, the new integrated X works perfectly with the revised headlights and fake grill triangles below them. Very Manga street racer. Specially in 'Magenta Fizz'!
I agree, cars as light as this really don’t need discs all-round. I find my mothers civic hard to drive smoothly due to the discs being so grabby at low speed - I can only imagine it would be 10x worse in a city car

Toyota still have their 5-year guarantee in place [Citroën and Peugeot 3?]. I've had 2007 / 2014 / 2018 models. After 4¾ years with the 2007 model, the clutch felt a little 'heavy' so the dealership investigated and put me in a new clutch bearing at no cost. They also spotted a small amount of 'misting' in one front headlight and so put me in a whole new headlamp unit, all under warranty. Long live Toyota!
What engine size is this aygo? As I have heard ppl saying it gets 0-60mph in 10s. And my 2006 1.0 aygo gets there in 11-12 seconds, so I am wondering why it is quicker ! :)

@@neillawrence2056 I have but apparently HGV driver's haven't. HGVs are not allowed to go abovr 80kph, and are allowed only to drive only on the two lanes from the right, or left depending where they are. They are not allowed to drive on as you call it "fast lane".

I'm someone who is retired, ridden bikes for decades, still have a Buell engined custom Sportster HD, done a fair bit of motorsport including trophy circuit racing in Historics, done a fair bit of engine preparation for race use, own Caterhams and Lotus plus more exotic and rarer stuff, and I like the Aygo from the POV of being fun and highly economic. The 2019 models specially in 'Magenta Fizz' is the best looking so far. How does that fit your assumed demographic?
This car is useful as a city car as this review indicates. As an owner of this car for 3 years now all I can say is I’d try and look elsewhere for a car if you need to do long journeys along the motorway.

I've got one as a courtesy car while my 86 is in. Worst car I've driven, pedals are poorly positioned, ony 3 gears are usable really, feels like you're driving a van despite its size. Feels like you're going to tip over on roubdabouts

Ur talking about the automatic gearbox? A robotized manual gearbox it is btw. Know that and learn it a bit, it shifts practiaclly just as smooth as a conventional automatic gearbox only is way more fuell efficiënt. Take the preasure off a little bit at the moment it shifts gears. I love it and acutally searched for a used one specifically with this type of automatic gearbox. It's very economical in fuell consumption, drives like a adult family car, is roomy for the driver even when ur big, and is very very silent.

@Nigel Rowe Toyota have no control over production anymore. The Aygo uses parts from Citroen and Peugeot, that why the car is so bad. Look at what Renault have done to Datsun/Nissan, they have ruined their name as a car brand. I have witnessed a Qashqai going up in flames, which is build by Renault.

Not anymore, there are all built in the UK. Terrible problems with them.

Great towcar due to its size and weight, follows my Motorhome attached with an A frame with ease. Great for taking away when we are touring.

It's very economical in fuell consumption, drives like a adult family car, is roomy for the driver even when ur big, and is very very silent.

@Nigel Rowe Toyota have no control over production anymore. The Aygo uses parts from Citroen and Peugeot, that why the car is so bad. Look at what Renault have done to Datsun/Nissan, they have ruined their name as a car brand. I have witnessed a Qashqai going up in flames, which is build by Renault.

@@misterbikerman7888 I heard the engine was designed by Isuzu. It doesn't use bits designed by Citroen Peugeot, the three collaborated on a joint effort.
They try to hard to be cool and funky, horrible design. Looks cheap too, they totally missed the boat.
