Jemma, I just made this cake for my husband´s birthday (I topped it with Pretzels, chocolate glazed bacon, raspberries and pistachios) , it was amazing, all the weights were extremely accurate in order to give a balanced flavor, you never get tired of it! we simply loved it. Thank you very much.
I made this at home and there are afew things to note! you must prepare everything pre-melt the butter have bowls spoon and spatulas open and ready as this recipe is a race against time, i had trouble with beating the eggs enough to where folding it it would work i recommend to beat till medium stiff peaks as there is no such thing as "gently folding" and as soon as the butter is added and folded in quickly place into the pan as the next minute the batter will get gassy and you don't want to move it when its in this stage, be prepared to make extra as its super easy for the cake to fail, i used 300g of 70% dark chocolate and 300g of 35% and it worked perfectly! when broiling use the least amount of time and heat so the chocolate dosnt temper make more than what you need because its delicious. for a 6" cake tin you will need over 50cm long of acetate. through trial and error it worked!!!
Made this this weekend and it was stunning!!!! Very rich... but not too sweet! As someone who eats high fat/ low carb.... this is perfect as loss of eggs/ cream..... but not that much sugar!! Stunnnnning!! Thank you Jemma xxx
I just made this! Instead of the plastic from an art shop, I just used a few pieces of laminated paper around the inside of the cake pan. They peeled off fine, and I didn't have any weird seams since they were three separate pieces. So thrilled. The extra truffle filling tasted amazing and the sponge looks so light and moist. I cannot wait to eat this tomorrow!! I also made this in a springform pan...I had nothing else.
Pls help. 1. Do I have to keep the cake in refrigerator only? I nid to take the cake to my friend's place it will take 1/2hour, will all the ganache melt and get spoilt?? 2. If I make 2pound of this cake, how much ingredients do i nid? and for how many days this cake will stay fresh? 3. If i use whipped cream and compound chocolate, will the ganache set or melt away?? Plsss suggst me.
Hi Jemma, I made this yesterday and it was fabulous! Instead of using the acetate, I have a 6 inch panettone pan which I stacked the layers in, using your warm tea towel recommendation to loosen. It worked perfectly!
Hi Jemma! I got the courage to bake this cake for my son’s birthday. It was the bomb! I love baking it and will do it again sometime. Love the cake and i know my son loves it too because he’s a big chocolate fan. It’s the perfect indulgence.
I tried this and took it to my aunt's when I went to stay this weekend It was Yummy the kids loved it and so did the adults. Definitely will make again Used ( dark chocolate from Tesco) that was 80p/150g As I couldn't find the other chocolate 👌 Did the job tastes Great 😋😋 Thank you so much Jemma I've tried so many of your recipes and they turn out delicious My Families favourite is rainbow cake Mum loves the chocolate cup cakes And I use the rainbow cake recipe divided into 3 (3eggs 250g Sugar Flour butter /margarine etc) to make normal cake and spread some jam and coconut over it they love that as well with some custard. Bouncy texture and softness yummy cakes ❤❤
Is it 6 or 5 egg yolks? Also if you don't have acetate will greaseproof paper work? The answer is yes. Tried it worked great. Also for those of you asking how to get it out the tin just pull it up holding the top of the paper and it comes out quite easily. Loved making this. Thanks Jemma
Jemma, a happy new year with tons of your wonderful, unique and superb recipes. Bunches of kisses from Brazil an definitely I will try this amazing cake.
I just made this cake. I was supposed to make it for Easter Sunday but I just didn't get around to making it. Everything smells amazing, cannot wait to taste, will have to wait for Sunday.
Hi @annlai77, does the filling hold well and is it stable to sit for long time, especially when carrying to the venue and serving later? Plz share your experience
Gosh I'm hungry now! I think I want to make it and paint the outsides of the sponge in edible gold paint so when the sponge peeks though it's gold and gorgeous! :D
This looks delicious! A chocolate dream. On a side note, I have always wondered...what kind of vanilla extract do you use, Jemma? I see it in the background!
Hi Gemma! This looks really awesome. Question, though - how do you remove the assembled cake from the cake tin? Is it a loose-bottom tin or can it be done with a regular cake tin?
super yammi! made one yesterday and this definitely falls under the category 'death by chocolate'! :) tried it covered in marzipan. not the ideal filling for it but it worked well enough. thanks for the recipe jemma! :)
Hi, Jemma~ Happy New Year! (I know it's terribly late, sorry..) Well, my questions.. Why did you need to add egg yolks to your truffle? And how long this cake can stand in room temperature before the truffle melts (or perhaps it won't melt?)? Oh God, that chocolate cake looks soo decadently worth-drooling... 😢😢😢 Thank you, Jemma! ❤❤
Hi Jemma, How on earth did you get the beautiful cake 🍰 out of the tin after you added the truffle mixture?!? Thank you so much, I love your recipes!!! 🤗
Happy new year Jemma🎉🎉 i always love your cake ❤️ btw, i wanna ask you, what can I use to substitute the double cream? As i have lactose intolerance . Thanks jemma.
That looks like a recipe I really need to try!!! Thank you for posting such great videos despite the busy time and life's hard blows! Lots of love and hugs.
+Sofia Vestin Oh yeah sure , well I re-watched the video and no clue :), could be a bottom loose pan but then how would the plastic sheet follow the move out ? I don't get it, sorry :)
HI JEMMAA My friend has asked for some sort of coffee and chocolate cupcake recipe to make for her friend and for now I've suggested to make your chocolate cupcakes with some mocha whipped cream on top. But it would be really cool if you made some sort of mocha cupcake for us! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH THANK YOU
Hi Jemma you have inspired me with your videos to bake a cake...but please please please can you bake eggless cake? My grandparents and parents can also have it
I think I'll make this and put a chocolate frosting over it. (Thin ganache with some gelatin). Just because that smooth look would make it super fancy. Not sure whether to go for a white-dark marbled or dark chocolate frosting.
Jemma this looks amazeballs! Could you tell us how you managed to get your cake out of the tin? The tin isn't loose-bottom right? Happy New Year from Bangkok! xo
Hi Jemma, thank you soo much for your easy to follow GREAT TASTING recipes, I've almost replaced all my recipes with yours LOL, quick question, can I whisk the truffle mixture, when it cools, to get it light and fluffy so I can do some piping work on top of the cake? Thanks.
Hey Jemma! Can this cake use as a base cake for fondant? Can the cake mixture can be used to make chocolate cupcakes? If so, what changes need to made to the recipe? Thank you for the yummy recipes!
hi Jemma I wonder if you could tell me what brand your hand whisk is? ps thanks for your wonderful videos, you're the reason I began baking and I absolutely adore it :D

how can anyone dislike this video? i love it and surely would follow ur recipe !
Cant wait to try this out! But can i know how did you take the cake out of the pan?
+Nur Ain i think the pan is a loose bottom pan
+Nur Ain She just flipped the pan over with one hand on top of the cake and gathered it
+petronille martin the made cake i think she means, not just the sponge, when the cake is all done with chocolate and all. I don't understand either!
+Sofia Vestin Oh yeah sure , well I re-watched the video and no clue :), could be a bottom loose pan but then how would the plastic sheet follow the move out ? I don't get it, sorry :)
It is indeed a loose bottom pan which works both for getting the baked sponge out as well as the acetate covered completed cake
Gosh, that's my kind of cake, more chocolate truffle than actually cake! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G

I think I'll make this and put a chocolate frosting over it. (Thin ganache with some gelatin). Just because that smooth look would make it super fancy. Not sure whether to go for a white-dark marbled or dark chocolate frosting.
