They Live is indeed another masterpiece by John Carpenter. I love both of them, They Live and The Thing. They're two completely different kind of movies, so it's really hard for me to decide which one of them is my favourite. It is my favorite John Carpenter movie (especially since we've gotten all those other nice Carpenter 4K's), and one of my favorite horror movies in general. The new DTS:X audio track SUCKS. This is a very disappointing remix. It's not as robust as the previous DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix or the 4.1 mix. @@insrtcowjoke Don't really think that's a fair assessment to make based on this one opinion. I understand where you're coming from. I hate Rob Zombie's "Halloween" because of its explanation of the Michael Myers character. A character that needs no explanation in my opinion. In this particular case, I didn't mind a little backstory, because we already knew what happened, the prequel just fleshed it out, and I don't think it took away from the original at all. If anything, it enhanced it for me. Like I said, a prequel/explanation, when done right, can really add to a story and universe. Not needed most of the time, but it doesn't always have to be a bad thing.
@@midlevelmedia - I agree with the core of your opinion, on that front. But for this case... Well, so the Norwegian camp just happened to be run by Americans? When the bases are clearly research bases run by individual nations? Why is all the research written and recorded in Norwegian if it was run by Americans? Where are the abandoned vehicles at the crashed UFO where the ending climax happened? Why does the thing do completely uncharacteristic things like openly attack people on a helicopter in full view of others, when it is clearly opportunistic and smart enough to not reveal itself unless exposed? How does it gain knowledge from prey like names, locations, purposes, etc., yet forget what piercings the victim had/it should have? I mean, I can go on and on to tear the inconsistencies of the prequel apart. And I'm just a casual fan. So I'd agree with you, if the movie maintained consistency. But it doesn't. It doesn't even come close. It botches basic concepts of the thing, all in the name of explaining an event that needed no explanation and was better left unexplained, from a narrative standpoint. But hey, you don't have to agree. It you enjoyed it, you enjoyed it. And despite our discussion here, my intent isn't to ruin your fun or enjoyment. I enjoy a healthy discussion. But ultimately, my point for it all is that I'm not going to be able to agree with your take, because we clearly have differing ideas of what constitutes a good prequel, and potentially a good movie entirely. And that's fine. Diversity of thought and opinion is ultimately a wonderful thing. But sometimes that means people just won't see eye to eye. C'est la vie. :)

You are saying a lot of nothing.
Thanks!
