Robert, he’s in the backseat seat back and now that you’ve strengthened the rear deck, once again you need a subwoofer under the rear seat and 4 6x9’s in that rear deck to not only rock out but if you turn it up high enough it’ll shake your rat squatter loose from his home in the staff car!. I look forward to the stereo installation and window tinting to come!!!!
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but that's called the back window, and a lot of us older folks slept there as kids. While our parents drove. My mom would always have my younger brothers sleep in the back window of our cars, when the were wore out. I enjoyed the video. Pretty cool using that flashing stuff for that.
I use peppermint oil after my rat problem and believe it or not for 3 years now and no more problems on my tractor or farm truck. Good luck my friend...
Put steel wool (not with soap) in the holes under your aluminum tape. That slows rats and mice down. You could stuff your door panel with that too. I also recommend finding a rat terrier and letting it sniff out your car.
C'mon Robert he ain't ever going away unless you try to get rid of him!! He probably lives outside somewhere and when you park it overnight he comes running back home.
My daddy had a 57 or a 56 Chevy n I remember when we go on vacation I would lay up in that back window n take nap. I sure hope that rat or what that’s doing damn is out here! ♥️😊👍🌟🐶
This magnificent Chevrolet is a year older than me! She seems to me to be in the same state as me! :) If you could fix me the same way with a few pieces of tape, I would gladly give you a hand to get rid of your wisteria Robert! :)
Is this where the term "Rat Rod" came from? 😂 I was just wondering about the '57 and its varmit problems when this video popped up. Will the varmits chew that metal stuff? Glad it helped deaden the noise/sounds. 👍👍😁
Actually Ed "Big Daddy"Roth designed Custom hot rods starting in 1958,he also cartooned the Rat Fink, his icon caricature of Mickey Mouse. His custom cars may have really been rat eaten old bodies at some point. All makes for interesting topics, the use of words and cartoons, his cars were works of art, man. Way cool! Today Rat bastard is the new expression, fink or bastard meaning someone that snitches or rats on you. There of course are worse names, but keeping it relatively clean, in the 60's we were different people coming into a new era,if you catch my drift.😁I used to call my brothers rat finks, lol.
Robert, I know you love to resuscitate old things and save them, but driving a rat-infested car is beyond my ken. What if he jumps around while you are driving??? Waaahh.... maybe get a cat to sniff around and investigate?
This car is already saved. The rats moved in while it sat on the farm for about a week. The way to stop the problem is to drive the car. Obviously rat removal is the number one goal. 🤦♂️
Looks like your little friends are living in your cushions take all the seats and cushions out examine then stuff holes and gaps with steel wool or Wire mesh good luck with the packrats in the Rat Rod lol
My oldest took her car to the Honda mechanic She didn't like the way it was running Seems she had a family of mice in the air intake Nest n all 😂 Her boyfriend put in a baffle of some kind to keep the critters out even though it voided her warranty We live in the burbs btw I guess they were in the mulch in flower bed 😂
I can think of about half a dozen uses for that stuff! Will it stick to about anything that well? Thanks for the ideas!❤️🤗🐝 edit.. and can you paint it?
Moth balls or clove oil help to repel mice. I would put some traps in the car just to see if any rodents are still present. I live in the country also and have had the same problem.
@@stubstoo6331 I think you might have listening comprehension failure. This car has new floor pans. Installed by me. New engine, transmission, new suspension- list goes on and on. So take some more digs. Go on…
set a rat trap where the pile of turds or across the path you think they take. I have killed many rat that got into my cars. In 2020 I trap 13 mice that were in my car. and they regularly get in so I have to keep a constant check and set traps when I don't drive it.

I was also amazed when peppermint oil worked for me! It also deters insects and make’s everything smell nice.
Great idea
Can’t wait to see the farm continue to rise .
Back In The 70's For In The Door's And Trunk & Wheel Well's Used Spray Tar. It Did Help. It's All The Auto Part's Had. 😎👍✌.

Sounds like you might need a few critter traps, maybe the 5 gallon bucket type. Those seem to catch quite a few little buggers.
That stuff is cool I will have to look into that too
That part of the window they call a package tray
Liked on the way in👍👍👍cool video thanks for sharing this
Great video Robert 👍. Glad you got rid of the mouse.
C'mon Robert he ain't ever going away unless you try to get rid of him!! He probably lives outside somewhere and when you park it overnight he comes running back home.
Nope. The car goes home with me.
Happy to hear you had a cat available for rat and mouse duty. A snake also might be helpful.
Have you taken the front seat apart?? Could it be hiding up in the stuffing? I would be terrified! You got this!!😊
Yeah I poked around all under the front seat. No rat there

those 2 holes are for a defrosting fan. that would blow air on the back window.
had one in my Chevrolet nova there was a switch on the dash.

It just looks rusty. New engine, transmission, brakes, new floor, new suspension- my goodness the list goes on…
May the Lord bless and protect you

The rats probably jumped ship at Scotts house and now lives in his vehicles.
All purpose, handy-dandy screwdriver!
That back is called the package shelf
What a good product ❤❤❤😊😊😊
You need to get you a family of farm cats.
a farmer told me that the best way to get rid of rats and mice is to feed them a mixture of cornmeal and cement(mortar mix).
Robert, I know you love to resuscitate old things and save them, but driving a rat-infested car is beyond my ken. What if he jumps around while you are driving??? Waaahh.... maybe get a cat to sniff around and investigate?

@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG You are a very brave man.
That is true, I am. And also I let my feral city cat sleep in it twice before this was filmed.
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG You are a very brave cheat!!!! I like it!!!
Set a few Rat traps. I bet you catch a few!
I love that you saved this car. Do you ever plan on putting the trim down the sides again?
Yes, if I can find some 150 trim… which I have found is harder to come by than 210 or Bel Air trim
Just drive it around til the little bigger runs up the pants leg. You'll have him then....hahaha!
Hi Mr Scott. There is no telling where that rat is or where its coming in at. Ther 57 is coming along.
2:25. It’s called a parcel shelf.
Looks like your little friends are living in your cushions take all the seats and cushions out examine then stuff holes and gaps with steel wool or Wire mesh good luck with the packrats in the Rat Rod lol
you need to place several rat traps in the car. Use peanut butter for the bait. Rats love peanut butter.
True definition of a rat rod ! lol
If you have any holes in the floor or body I would close them up with sheet metal, they are getting in from under the car.
New floor pans.
@@THEOLDBYRDFARMVLOG I thought I saw holes in the trunk along the sides
@@old64goat no. Only hole in the trunk is the cutout for the fuel pump
LOL I watched the video waiting for your little friend to pop out at you.
I was looking for it. I think it’s gone now. But I found it’s house in the door.
Cornmeal and baking soda. Rodent trap.
You need to lock a hungry cat in there haha
I like the Bigfoot sticker! What does it say?
Put some sticky rat traps in the car !
Get you glue traps

You might ask your dog to investigate inside the car. The dog probably won't catch the rat, but its smell will help deter the rat.
Done that.

Pretty much, and paint probably won’t stick

I had to know what they called. Apparently the shelf behind the rear seats is called the rear deck.

@lynda mclean no old but the mice still got in .

wouldn't hurt to set some traps in there
Maybe you should get a few good cats to keep the rat population down
I suggested that,too.Every farm needs a few cats anyhow.😊
Maybe.
theyre gonna get in the rest of your vehicles also (time for some poison)
