    I know Uncle Larry and Guthrie are all the rage right now, but guitar playing doesn't get at a higher level than this, and the explanation of what he's doing is much clearer.
    I would say the tone of that hollowbody is great, but he gets that tone with whatever he is playing. It's in his hands. Amazing guitar player.
    If you keep teaching this level of stuff this clearly, this channel is going to blow up quickly. I hope it does.👍

    Amazing. Love this Ford, so usable and practical. Hearing it over the looper is gold 🎉. Gives it context. Relative minor/major I get. Is the E mixolydian over D because of the flat 7 (D) in E. Wow sorry for the theory but I love the why behind stuff.

    Man, I deleted my question about how the D chord works in this progression (bc I wanted to phrase it better) before seeing your answer in my notifications. Got the info. Thanks for answering me!

    "4 half steps down" might confuse some folks. Ford is including the note of origin, in this case 'E'. A lot of folks would refer to this as a minor third down, or the relative minor..
    Great lesson Dude, and wonderful examples to emulate. The way you raced down the Phrygian mode over the D was brilliant, and worth noting.
    I've never seen material packaged in this way, So inspiring!!

    I'm a beginner level far as my soloing over chords and I sat with this for a while today, but overall I think I get it and the thought process of switching to mixolydian mode when the d major hits/because I guess at that point the chords make it A major. Anyway without trying to overthink it this was really cool to play along with and experiment going back and forth from the E major to the E mixolydian/Which by the way I;m still getting that scale under my fingers. Thanks a lot man/ Great stuff

    will you ever do a guitar course with brett papa ? ... i have watched the 2 videos with the old gold top loads of times now and there is so much to take in . the one with the chords am , f ,c but used the c major scale and a blues , and the blues one with the funky drum beat track . i would definitely buy one of your courses

    I get everything but the e minor over the D major. Why did you go there

    • @2011goldtop
      @2011goldtop  3 месяца назад +2

      When the d happens that makes it e mixo . You can pull off e blues

    • @rheath989

      Or look at the minor pentatonic as playing the notes of the 2 minor chord in D Major..

    Hey Ford.. so I get all this; you are just playing diatonically, right? How would you 'go outside' on something like this?

    • @2011goldtop
      @2011goldtop  3 месяца назад +4

      I would go outside when the d chord comes . Just play chromatic of the D chord . That’s where I’d hear that
