I've found, that on some deeper dives...while coming to the surface, I'll put my legs together and kick like I'm wearing a mono-fin. I've found that the combined surface area of both fins, and a slow, undulating motion gets me to the surface much quicker & without feeling like I'm burning up too much of my remaining breath hold. Maybe try it, and see what you think :). Great video as usual! Cheers.
Thank you for your feedback. Personally prefer single leg stroke as can keep a consistent streamline ascent. But different techniques can always be preferred for different people. Enjoy!
Pretty amazing, you talk about a 30 m almost 3 min dive as it is nothing. It's a stunning dive, if I could ever achieve just half of that I would never leave the water :-)
Not something I would do when spearfishing as doing lots of dives through the day. Worth checking out some pure freediving advice for packing, as freediving while spearfishing is different discipline to pure one dive/breathhold max freediving.
Repetition is good, I must learn breath control, so equalization is also going oki live in pain every day of my life, and getting in the water,is helping greatly, I weigh 183.6lbs. I have to figure out how much weight to put on my belt. Thanks the Bearhunter5
Great video and really helpful. I actually find somewhere between 15-20m about perfect. Due to the 5mm wetsuit required here if I dive shallow I need a tonne of weight to hold the bottom comfortably and the current in the shallow zones here is crazy. A bit deeper and I hold the bottom with less weight needed which is more relaxing.
Yes if you are trying to do one dive as efficiently as possible. But in this video we are focusing on repetitive consistent dives. Maybe in future videos we can talk about Kicking technique and its pros and cons.
the john dory being one of the most delicious and high quiality fish in the world, you have some major luck there that it approached you that shallow... in my experience a very rare species to encounter when spearfishing anyway, let alone it approach you there :D though i have not been to NZ. So i cannot say how it is over there.
Mate, the info is great but the images, underwater sound and music are just amazing. Great video
That’s some pretty insane breath holds.
Love wettie gears 🤌

Thanks Sir @ Wettie Tv for the guide, I was diving with out taking off my snorkeling to the bottom.
Such a helpful, well presented series. Cheers man
Another very helpful tips for beginners. Actually, practice and do it... Thanks for sharing...

Cheers for that. What type of diving watch do you have?
I mainly use Suunto D4F or a ATMOS mission 2
Thanks for your great videos! Wasn't able to find part 4 of this series - has it been published?
Thank you! Not yet will get around to it when in the right conditions.
Thank you dear. Good tutorial. Good explanation.
How about air stacking/lung packing? Is that something you would practice?
Not something I would do when spearfishing as doing lots of dives through the day. Worth checking out some pure freediving advice for packing, as freediving while spearfishing is different discipline to pure one dive/breathhold max freediving.
Thanks your videos helped me a lot!!!
how i wish could hold my breath like yours🙏

Legend, thanks
Sweet!
Thank you!
I was wondering can a kid around 14 go spearfishing by himself and a guardian?
Its completely up to your confidence and your guardians guidance. But there are plenty of people your age doing it.
My son is 14 and he’s loving it. We enjoy it whenever the ocean is flat enough to get out there.
My speargun is 38 in, the bolt is 32 in. This is all very new to me. My recurve bows are 40-53 lbs pull. Thanks bearhunter5
What about shaaaks? You guys are an absolute champion. 30 m is too much
How to equalize?
Where pt 4?
Hi, Is it possible to ask why you normally use single band on your gun? Thanks.
Personally I prefer single rubber from the simplicity and manoeuvrability. Along with the correct rubber its very smooth and accurate.
@@WettieNZ Thank you. May I ask how long is your gun shaft and diameter? and also the rubber how thick it is? Wish you well.
@@orazalo Using 7mm hardened stainless shaft with low profile flopper and 16.5mm rubber.
isn’t it more efficient to kick with straight legs?

I need to pass the 3 meters first 😫
You got issues man
Is it bad to dive work ups?
2 minutes 40 seconds at 27m 😅
