i think the issue with universe mode isn’t really the mode itself, of course it has its problems and limitations but the fans are split. some want universe to be like the old where random cutscenes and stuff will happen and others want it to be fantasy booker mode where you can control who wins matches but still watch the cpu vs cpu
I really feel like the new stuff in Universe Mode should’ve been added into GM Mode. Or they could’ve conjoined the modes somehow. I’m just happy we’re finally getting updates to the rivalry system!
I think so too.. similar to NBA 2k … within the “ Sandbox “ mode you can choose to control The Entire Universe or specifically from a Head (Chairman) standpoint, Team (Brand) Owner, or become a single player on the roster. All within one mode.. its much cleaner that way as well, i dont know why they dont take more ideas from the NBA games..
its probably a lot to do 2k did say sometimes they'll come up with an idea but its gets taken away because it be to much for a console to handle or things will just mess up constantly

What I think is most interesting about all of this, is it finally explains how universe mode was working behind the scenes when we had no control. I do wish they would have at least given us some new cut scenes this year however. All of these are so stale

This grate I love the fact they added cutscenes for universe mode but I would love it if 2k added more cutscenes for triple threat,fatal four-way, five way six man tag, war games money in the bank and royal rumble and any new match types to be added cutscenes to as I think it would way to make wwe universe mode feel like it’s an living universe and another example is you can do have cutscenes to be in the royal rumble so then you can have like kofi royal rumble moments but also having so tag team brake ups that happen in the royal rumble match would really cool to be add into wwe2k24.
Double title defences have to get patched in at some point . As they have it in play mode I'm guessing . Make some noise get them to patch it in my universe 💯
universe mode couldve been better had they merged story designer with it or put elements/scenes of the old story designer into it. wouldve made it feel like a legit season mode like the early smackdown games.

I'm on the fence. On one hand it's nice that you can control cutscenes with matches but on the other hand it may get tedious having to keep doing it. Sometimes random can be fun. I think to balance it out you can select from a list of storylines that you want like Championship, #1 Contenders, Manager Betrayal, Tag Team/Stable Forming or breaking up, Brutal, Friendly and rivalries that lead up to a specialty match like HIAC, Special Referee, etc.
Just like I feared, you still have to have the Rivals face one on one every damn week... so stupid. This has been a big issue for almost all universe players for years and they don't bother to fix that...

I hope universe mode is better this year, I Got to horror show at Extreme rules on wwe 2k22 and I played as my custom character against Seth Rollins and after I won the match the screen goes black but you can still hear crowd charger and theme music but it stays on black screen, freezing basically, so I dated my save slot and restarted my universe mode and it did the same thing at the same spot.
They have completly lost sight was what Universe mode is supposed to be. Its not about booking and controlling everything that happens in the mode. It's supposed to be about playing through a simulation of a pro wrestling year. The game is supposed to throw unpredictable, fun, stuff at youm, create its own universe and the joy of it is seeing how things unfold and playing an endless mode that keeps delivering entertainment and twists and turns. Seeing the same old rivalries play out with the same scenes in the same order and having to set rivalries up to end and begin at predetermined times, etc. takes all of the spontaneous fun out of it. It's been a decade and they still don't get it.
Is the Roster system the same? Like the way you add people to each show? I was hoping they’d separate the rosters better for each show. Like when I make a match on Raw it will show only all of the wrestlers on Raw, and not everyone else.
There's plenty more we could ask for. Especially since they charge so much for a copy and paste game. It's about time they gave us more match types that people have been asking for. I have given up hoping for a special guests referee match to return. I would've liked to have seen promos return as well. Advanced entrances are back but it doesn't look to have any improvements over past installments versions. While the new rivalry action system in Universe mode is pretty cool, they don't seem to have put much effort into creating new scenes that we haven't already seen in previous games. Personally I think it's time the rights to make wwe games are handed over to another developer.

I think that'd be handy for trying to book storylines but sitll wanting to watch matches play out. Also are you able to do a video showing off the default rosters and teams for unvierse mode?
The new rivalry system is such a good improvement to universe mode, however, there's just one last thing that i'd like to change. The matches themselves. The AI (at least for the beginning of universe mode) always gives you these random matches that would never happen on the irl product. The whole reason people play universe mode is to simulate the actual WWE product. You'll get random mixed gender tag matches or matches that wouldn't happen in a million years like Roman Reigns vs Rick Boogs lol. Now, I like this goofiness factor to universe mode because sometimes it's fun to just let loose and see what wild matches you'll get. But that's only SOMETIMES. Majority of the time I just want to simulate the irl product with small deviations so I can have my own story. My idea is for 2k to implement a slider to adjust how "goofy" or random the match ups can get. You can either make them super realistic, super random, mainly realistic, mainly random etc. It'd also be cool to maybe have an option to sync our universe with the live WWE product (since i'm assuming wwe2k23 will be live service as well). Just my thoughts, anyone agree or disagree?
completely agree...Divisions only help so much....Mixed gender matches were probably the worst. I set up so many mixed gender tag teams, but they would never match up two established teams against each other. It was always one team against some random pairing of a guy and girl....Match table is buggy too.
what i do with universe mode is basically just create my own show or use one of the existing ones...delete the rest, draft who i want, and treat it as a type of gm mode...much easier and fun that way because i agree with u, i hate how it sets up all these random ass matches that would never happen...using created superstars and drafting who u want into ur own show and going about it that way is top tier
Don’t think they’ll fix that the Rumble winner doesn’t show up as the challenger at Mania. I mean that is a problem the last couple of games had and now this one does it.
Mate you can edit the match & make the Rumble winner get their matches at Wrestlemania main event This issue that needs fixed is holding a premium event on the Saturday & Sunday like Wrestlemania is not allowed.
The only thing I don’t like is the non double title Defense and the Royal rumble winner doesn’t get a championship match at wrestlemanie but honestly i would just have to switch the ppv elimination chamber first the Royal rumble
They NEED to add an option where we can shuffle the match order on ppv’s, Cody vs Rey for no title shouldnt be main eventing WM over Owens vs Roman for the belt. If they just let us switch the match card order around itd be perfect
I think there is still double title matches in theory, but I think one person can't defend 2 at a time. I think its only double if both wrestlers each have a title to defend.

Universe is pretty much the only mode I play. Besides maybe my rise and I might try to get into GM this year. Even though it's still a screwed up as last year as far as matchmaking. Is this game worth it?

It looks really good , however the question is ...Will universe mode handle all this ? I mean all these features are cool but if it constantly crashes it just ruins the fun . But I'm impressed overall with 2k23
That depends on the action you choose. If you’re having some attack or disrespect an opponent then that will start a rivalry but if it’s friendly it’ll probably start a tag team story.
I'm hoping this can replace the glitches in universe in 22. I would love to have these actions without required rivalries. More than likely I'll wait out the lifespan to do anything to prevent any corruptions or work that could be lost since I mod on the pc.

Looks like the mode is as bad and broken as ever unfortunately but the rivalry system does seem cool. Iv noticed minor Rivalries or whatever they were called seem to be gone which I hope not as they were great and was how I set up my Rivalries as I rather them happening dynamically Vs me choosing them. The thing about the Rumble story is just an example of how broken the mode is. It was originally built around ppvs every 4 weeks which they no longer do but it messes with things. The mania story always used to start 4 weeks prior but I know last year Fast lane got in the way and caused issues. This year I worry the problem won't be able to be fixed unless you just don't have a PLE after Rumble. They no longer have the option for a WrestleMania story option in options anymore so it's possible we will just have to manage the story ourselves. I'm glad you at least brought it up to the Devs but whether they will actually care to do anything about it remains to be seen. It also sucks that double title matches can't happen in Universe especially since the game doesn't have the titles unified so it's going to be hard to treat Roman Reigns accurately in Universe

So when I say it looks broken as ever I'm referring to little things that shouldn't be in the game, like the Rumble winner facing the champ at Mania, that should be a thing that's pretty simple to pull off. The Universal Championship was also never defended I think because the mode just doesn't work with having a wrestler holding multiple titles all too well. It's little things like that which would make great improvements to the mode. They didn't really fix any of Universes biggest issues but the rivalry improvements definitely are cool

so there is a triple threat action (temporary alliance) but you cant trigger that on a triple threat only a 1v1 so who is the third person

I think there is still double title matches in theory, but I think one person can't defend 2 at a time. I think its only double if both wrestlers each have a title to defend.
Double title matches were in 2k22. Both competitors have to be a champion for the option to come up
@@maineventmafia1633 For Universe Mode tho? I understand for exhibition but not UM. For 2k23, i would've wanted the double champion to defend both titles in UM, unless that IS the case
@@KingChrisXX I think what he means is that if two wrestlers are champions, both can put their title on the line. However, if a superstar holds 2 titles simultaneously, then they cannot defend 2 titles at the same time.

Literally in the first min of the video he said he “Started the rivalry” using the free mode changes so yes they can be done to any match
i cant get over all the studder moves these games have... Like when Rey threw his legs over Doms shoulder, that it "laggs" without lagging....

Universe is pretty much the only mode I play. Besides maybe my rise and I might try to get into GM this year. Even though it's still a screwed up as last year as far as matchmaking. Is this game worth it?
If your looking forward to it yes but if I don’t think the 120 version is that worth besides nostalgia

I'm assuming those rivalry actions are only for set up rivalries? You can't do them for normal non rivalry matches?

That depends on the action you choose. If you’re having some attack or disrespect an opponent then that will start a rivalry but if it’s friendly it’ll probably start a tag team story.
I'm hoping this can replace the glitches in universe in 22. I would love to have these actions without required rivalries. More than likely I'll wait out the lifespan to do anything to prevent any corruptions or work that could be lost since I mod on the pc.

the only times mine has crashed was mostly in 2k20 and twice in 2k22

With 2K22 I opened a ticket 2 times that the tag finishers weren’t saving. They never fixed it.
So can rivalries still play out automatically like in previous years or do I have to set up everything myself? sometimes I will want to let the AI surprise me

Looks like the mode is as bad and broken as ever unfortunately but the rivalry system does seem cool. Iv noticed minor Rivalries or whatever they were called seem to be gone which I hope not as they were great and was how I set up my Rivalries as I rather them happening dynamically Vs me choosing them.
The thing about the Rumble story is just an example of how broken the mode is. It was originally built around ppvs every 4 weeks which they no longer do but it messes with things. The mania story always used to start 4 weeks prior but I know last year Fast lane got in the way and caused issues.
This year I worry the problem won't be able to be fixed unless you just don't have a PLE after Rumble. They no longer have the option for a WrestleMania story option in options anymore so it's possible we will just have to manage the story ourselves.
I'm glad you at least brought it up to the Devs but whether they will actually care to do anything about it remains to be seen.
It also sucks that double title matches can't happen in Universe especially since the game doesn't have the titles unified so it's going to be hard to treat Roman Reigns accurately in Universe
How does it looks broken as ever? You can just create the match yourself and keep progressing. It doesn't really look broken to me.
@@BeastiezCyZ Yeah but the mode should be self working. So when I say it looks broken as ever I'm referring to little things that shouldn't be in the game, like the Rumble winner facing the champ at Mania, that should be a thing that's pretty simple to pull off. The Universal Championship was also never defended I think because the mode just doesn't work with having a wrestler holding multiple titles all too well. It's little things like that which would make great improvements to the mode.
They didn't really fix any of Universes biggest issues but the rivalry improvements definitely are cool
@@alanw9620 I get what you're saying. I'm glad for the double title entrance but it's disappointing that we can't defend the both titles as one. Like in real life WWE which it's been like that for ages. So for them to not let us do that in the game is abit of a anti climax
@@tomalex4806 Yeah it really sucks, they really just don't have someone who knows there stuff over this mode. There's so many small issues that shouldn't be there.
