Yes, I agree. It's a more personable situation. I often have imagined what fun it most have been in past centuries listening to a reader in some friendly old tavern. It's sad in a way that radio and Tv have alienated the mass of men from each other. Imagine how great it must have been to hear a colorful reading of Dickens in some road house or other back then. Goes all the way back past Homer. It's lacking in our artificial screen society. Thank you for your contribution to preserving an important communal tradition.

I love this story- despite its despicable attitude to poverty- and you read it so wonderfully. Definitely up there with Hordern's readings of M R James for me.

Would you consider doing an update version of this? It's a little hard to hear you in the mic, even with ear buds in I do love your in camera readings and I'm a bit bummed that I won't be able to see any of your actual live performances (unless you somehow get to middle of nowhere MI lol. But I'll keep my fingers crossed!)
