Thank you for bringing this out. I was always with my mom at church during corporate worship. She would talk to us to behave well, listen to sermons, and sing. I mean, all parents should do that. Kids are not an inconvenience during corporate worship! I know that some people will point out that children with autism, for example, are not welcome or can stay calm like other children. Some adaptations can be made, and the children shouldn't be prevented from participating.
I would just like to wholeheartedly thank you for this presentation. Over the years I have come to question the whole idea of separating out the children during church services. But what solidified my thoughts on this was a presentation on this subject by Vodie Bacham in which he brought to bear Biblical exegesis defending the whole family being together during worship. Doug Wilson's crew up in Moscow holds to a similar view. It is simply better for the family. And it is more honoring of God.

I have to be honest and say I picked up on a bit of strawmanning and even a little gaslighting in this episode. Right behind Graham with an almost 2y/o and an almost 4 y/o. Christ is our hope in life and death and parenting. God has blessed my wife and I to experience so many of the blessings mentioned. We definitely had moments of asking ourselves if we were doing the right thing or if it was working. We pray still for the souls of our children that they would be joined to Christ, but we see already the work of God's grace and the effects of seeking to repent of our sins and mistakes as we seek to point them to Christ.
We just adopted a toddler who came from an unbelieving family who also has special needs (nonverbal, disabled, tube fed, intellectually and developmentally delayed). I know you mentioned special needs but didn’t say anything specifically. Any advice to that? We are working on reading and praying at home, which often results in tears and resistance but she’s only been with us a few months. Her bio parents also did not take her anywhere because of behavior, even to vacation.

I have recently been convicted about our church having a staffed nursery and age 4-6 catechism which takes adults and children out of the sanctuary. It makes a lot of sense to keep the church body together, to worship and be fed together. Do you have any suggestions on how to present this approach to my elders?
I LOVE this. One suggestion for the songs. Before my daughter could read the words, I always made sure to hold, even my 4 year old, so I could sing right in her ear, so she could learn the words. Or, even if my child were too big to hold, I would have them stand and I would sit and sing right in her ear. I think it’s hard to understand words while singing.
