Loved hearing about your Indonesia trip! It made me feel like I was there. The first quilt I ever made has a batik backing, I love it and now have a better understanding on the process, I love it more!
I decided to watch this video because of the "Two Bits" title. My grandpa used to refer to quarters as two bits. This pattern gives me ideas for several quilts especially tee shirt quilts for my son.
I enjoyed this video! I’ve never seen the grid flannel wall! Way back in 2016, as we returned from a 2 week holiday in Montana, I looked up shops participating in Row by Row. We had spent the night in Moses Lake. It was a longer drive than I had remembered, but loved your shop! I was a bit groggy from a sleepless night, but will return some day.
This idea of 2 1/5" units is a game changer for me. Scrap quilts of any kind will be easier to build when all the pieces are multiples of the basic unit. Thanks so much for this video.
Cindy - re your 9.5" churn dash block - add a few inches wide strip of fabric to each of top and right side, then trim block back to 10.5" x 12.5" and it will work in your plan. I've done this for years! It's a super process - glad to see someone put it in print for others - but don't discard uneven sizes - add strips of fabric and voila! It now fits!!!!
I have had a t-shirt UFO for 10 years because I never liked how they were going together. This has given me the ideas I needed to make a "quilt" with t-shirts and my quilt blocks or filler blocks to set it in a much more eye pleasing layout. THANK YOU for rescuing me!
God bless you and your family. You are such genuine folks, love to share your techniques and “secrets” to benefit others. You are so mild mannered and patient with your teachings. So refreshing in this fast paced, dog eat dog society. I feel I have a place to escape and not be judged on my learning. Again, thank you
Thank you for sharing this process. You make what I have always considered very difficult into something very understandable. You have inspired me to try. I have several blocks I have wanted to work with, but didn't have the confidence to try. You have given me the confidence. Thank you again.
@@TheFabricPatch My son isn't a quilter (yet), but he does sew. He lives in Moses Lake. If I get out there to visit again, I will definitely visit your shop. :)
This was one of the most informative quilting videos I have seen - and I’ve watched a lot of them. You taught a technique instead of just a pattern. I love watching pattern videos, but this opened up a whole new world for making quilts. At first I didn’t think the technique would be useful for me, but when you moved from the graphic (words) fabric and showed how to work with different size pieces, it clicked! You did an excellent job of explaining it and even while I was watching, I started thinking of several of my unfinished projects that I can finally get out and finish. Thank you so much!
Thanks so much for this wonderful pattern! I used it to break down a panel to make a better baby quilt. It was fun and easy and reinforced the 2" increments on sizes. You made the math so easy!
Thanks for highlighting the NOTABILITY app. I use it all the time to plan quilts, and to save photos of ones I’ve made. So easy to add text and captions to photos too!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've always wanted to do patterns of my own, but the math has always scared me off. Your tutorial helped me to see that it is something that I can do. What a blessing you have been with your patience and calming grace! Thank you again.
I loved that you high lighted the creative technique of creating a quilt around some focus fabric. Very clear. Will refer back to it often, I’m sure. Thx
Such an interesting technique. I may have to draw this one out for a Queen size quilt I have on my list where the panels are all different sizes. Thank you for rescuing the filming of this one!🐾🐾💕
I love your videos! I’m a beginner and your videos are very helpful. It really helps to see someone actually put the instructions in action. Really helpful. Thank you!
I seem to buy a lot of panels for the grandkids and I always try to fit them into 6 inch or 4 inch sizing. Not always easy to do without losing some of the panel or trying to add borders. 2 inch sizing using strip sets is a great idea. I hate sewing lots of little pieces together but I can do strips. You have just solved all that for me. Thanks
I’ve been putting off making a couple T-shirt quilts because I’m not crazy about the looks of a lot of them. This would be a great technique to use for a T-shirt quilt! I think I better get started soon!
I love this video!! I learned this technique many years ago but we used increments of 1½". We made keyboard strips, 4 pathches, 9 patches, plain squares, etc., for shashing around tshirts to fill in where the designs were smalker. It makes beautiful quilts. I like this because the increments are larger & I won't lose interest! A suggestion: your 'signage' in the lower left corner blocks what you're doing sometimes!
You are such a great teacher and your videos are extremely helpful. This video is one of my favorites. What a great way to use up orphan squares, panel pieces etc. Definitely going to put this video in my “go to” tutorials! Love it!
I really love this technique! I have a couple of panels that have been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years. They're so beautiful but I've never done anything with them. I just pulled them off the shelf, and I'm now I have plans for them.
That's so cool! I might actually do something like this with some of my delicious fabrics. My husband and I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for sharing🙏❣️
Thank you for this video! I am working on the Journey2Nebula projects, but was wanting to use the projects in a quilt instead of the individual projects (I don't use table runners or table toppers). Now I have an easy technique to figure it all out! Perfect! Thanks!
Love your video and all the other ones. I just got stitches as my quilters select dropped on the top of my foot. Love my quilters select it wasn’t it’s fault that I had to get stitches.
Excellent idea! Well explained, simply but detailed. I’m eager to try that! Would it be possible to put the blue fabric patch logo block maybe over Cindy’s left shoulder rather than in the lower corner . It blocked getting to see what she was doing on the work surface several times and I didn’t want to miss a thing Thanks.
Cindi, this is very helpful to all of us with a few panels, leftover blocks and just some big pieces of pretty fabric. I do NOT do scrap quilts because my mind takes too much time deciding what goes where, but I can see me making a mixed block with some panel pieces for a beautiful quilt. as long as it's comfort, then whose going to say it's not right. Right? Thanks again.
Could I suggest that you put the Fabric Patch logo on the top left corner of the screen, in future videos, so that there is a clear view of the cutting table ? ;-)
The other option might be to have it at the beginning and the end. I realize that it is on through the entire video for various reasons such as preventing people other then Fabric Patch from taking credit and possibly being paid for the video and or getting subscribers fraudulently, but, unfortunately I found it distracting at times and in the way at other times. Loved the technique.
I’ve only watched for a few minutes and I’m hooked! Can’t wait to try your technique!! I have some beach fabric I’ve been want to use for a project. This technique will be perfect! Thanks for this video and so many others I've watched. I love the app demo too. I use Procreate, a similar app.
I’ve watched your tutorials and just love how real you are. In the first part of the video, you had the two bits quilt from a panel. When designing your own quilt, how do you will in the gaps from one size square to another? Wider sashing?
To reduce the need to straighten up your tweaked edges, I highly recommend the “power cutting method” used and explained by Nancy at OnPoint TV & Quilting.
This tutorial is awesome. Who doesn't need such a versatile pattern/technique? I can think of several right now that are stuck in my UFO pile. Thank you! :-)
According to my dad a Two Bits = 22 Shell. + 3 bit = 25 ( a quarter) ...sadly Canada no longer has pennies 😩. .... Thanks Cindi for sharing your two bit quilt ideas.
Cindi the blocks turned out great, I never follow a size for my quilt blocks as I improvise a lot so this is another way I can get all to match in size. Oh and I love the music used in the background, can you please tell me what it is? 💙
Thank you for another creative inspiration! I can see how you can do so much with this technique. “two bits” my father also used that to mean 25 cents. My old high school had a cheer “2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits, a dollar all for Harbor, stand up and Holler!” I’ve wanted to make a t-shirt quilt for some time now. This will be a great help. How heavy of a backing did you use to stabilize the t-shirt?
I’ve watched a few of your videos now. Although I think you have some great ideas, I would like to know what the “destination “ would look like before we start the journey. Just a hint... like a three second picture of the final result. Even if the result is another quilt, using the same design. I find myself wanting to slide through to the end.... then back to the beginning.... Thanks!
Thank you for showing this technique and how to create your own pattern. Valuable information!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you

I just finished watching The Two Bit, my oh my I’m so excited. I have the cuties batch of squares waiting for this concept❤
I’ve been learning so much from your instructional videos. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us. Thank you.
You are so welcome! Glad you watch with us!
Just found this video and I absolutely love it. I have so many panels that have been languishing in my stash for lack of skill. Thanks!
Divide by two…this will save me lots of frustration since I am a scrap quilter…this video is priceless ❤️from Minnesota ☃️

I love your unorthodox color splashes. Watching your videos has made me feel even better about the multitude of color I put in them, thanks.
Most sensible advice on simple designing. Thank you.
Thanks for highlighting the NOTABILITY app. I use it all the time to plan quilts, and to save photos of ones I’ve made. So easy to add text and captions to photos too!
A fun way of being scrap happy and creating something beautiful at the same time!
Yes!
thank you so much. This was very inspirational and CLEAR to understand.

It was wonderful watching the process of creating a quilt around panels. Thank you very much.
Great video! This technique is easier than I thought. Thanks so much for teaching it!
Good! You are welcome! Yes I love it because I can really design anything I would like edit uses up all of those leftover pieces.
I loved that you high lighted the creative technique of creating a quilt around some focus fabric. Very clear. Will refer back to it often, I’m sure. Thx
Great idea for the boarders. Thanks
Wonderful information. Love your teaching technique- you’re a natural! I can follow easily.
Those fabrics were so soft & sweet! I love the way it turned out :)
Love this video! The possibilities are endless. Thanks so much for sharing!
Yes!
So well explained, I have an embroidery machine and now feel confident enough to make my own panels of all different sizes, thank you xx
Another highly informative lesson!
Making t-shirt quilts will be much easier.
Thank you! Thank you!
Such an interesting technique. I may have to draw this one out for a Queen size quilt I have on my list where the panels are all different sizes. Thank you for rescuing the filming of this one!🐾🐾💕
Yes!! We had to redo a little bit of it, but Brittany worked wonders to selvage the rest!!
You do an excellent job of showing us how to think out the process. Thank you
Incredibly helpful. Opened up a new world for this newbie.
Good!
So glad I found this design! There’s no limit to the combinations you can use. Thank you!😘

Thank you..this is how I have always done my “remembrance” quilts..I think this is a great technique..
Great tutorial and wonderful *recipe* for quilt design! ✂️🧵❤️
Thank you so much for this great tutorial. I was not confident enough to figure that out, now I’m excited.
I just did my first sampler. Wish I had used your method. Now, I am ready for the next one!!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas! I really think I will be using these techniques soon!
Great tutorial. You made it so easy to decide how to put various blocks together. Thank you.
I love this! Will finish some panels I've had for too many years.
Brilliant! I have so many orphan blocks that my mom made & now I know what to do with them. This is so helpful!
Thank you I have a wall hanging I have been wanting to do but couldn't come up with an plan to do it. The math worked for me.
Perfect!
I’ve been putting off making a couple T-shirt quilts because I’m not crazy about the looks of a lot of them. This would be a great technique to use for a T-shirt quilt! I think I better get started soon!

I totally agree with you

I really love this technique! I have a couple of panels that have been sitting on the shelf for a couple of years. They're so beautiful but I've never done anything with them. I just pulled them off the shelf, and I'm now I have plans for them.

Fabulous suggestions. Thank you, Cindi!
Fascinating presentation
Thank You. You are my new best friend.
Great detailed info. I love the technique. Thank you for explaining steam vs dry I do love steam but with my press maybe I will get better results
Thank you for this video! I am working on the Journey2Nebula projects, but was wanting to use the projects in a quilt instead of the individual projects (I don't use table runners or table toppers). Now I have an easy technique to figure it all out! Perfect! Thanks!
Yes!
Thanks for your Tricks. That helps realy with the orfinblocks.
Thanks Cindi! I love it. I'm new to sewing. I have some panels and this is a great idea. I was thinking mug rugs. Hey, I can do both. Lol.
A great tutorial. You are a great teacher. Thank you.
Love your video and all the other ones. I just got stitches as my quilters select dropped on the top of my foot. Love my quilters select it wasn’t it’s fault that I had to get stitches.

It was awesome to see this come together and look so amazing. I really learned a lot today thank you
I love this! Thanks so much.
Thank you so much love all your videos. I’m very excited about this one.
So cute! This is a great idea! 💕
Thank you for your video as it is very helpful
Great video Cindi, your videos are always so informative. Stay safe.

OOOps! sorry, just noticed Sue has suggested the same :-))

This is great! I'm looking at my panels now.
I’m going to change the layout of my next quilt and add some interest
Excellent. And no two will ever be alike!!
Love ❤️ this 💡.
Love this episode!! So incredibly smart!
Thank you !! This was very informative.
Thank you. Ive been looking for some help with this for a quilt with several different pieces
Good! Perfect timing!
Enjoyed this so much!! ❤️
Beautiful

For those blocks that aren’t the “right” size, you could add coping strips to make it slightly bigger and fit into the required “divisible by 2” size.
Thank you! :-)
Great tutorial
Can the blue fabric patch insignia be moved to the right corner to make it easier to see what you are doing?
You have an incredible brain.

I’ll ask Brittany. She picks it. I liked it too!
Love this. Have a lot of panels and what a great way to use them. Do baby quilts for charity. Thank you

Yes! I just use the featherweight fusible interfacing to stabilize the knit.

Will you be putting together more of the Two Bit Quilt Kits? So adorable it’s already sold out. Let us know if/when they will be back in stock.
Love this class.
