@@twitfizz exactly! It's so cool that they put this much effort into it. And it fits so well, he's doing completely normal things, but it is so unsettling. Every scene here conveys some brutality and in the most mundane things.
@@takeuchi5760 these normal things are metaphors for what he's doing to criminals...that's why I have always loved this opening.
It's all a man doing normal everyday things, but the extreme close ups and use of jump cuts make even these seem unsettling and intimidating.
Whoever thought this up really understood the tone of the show, it's probably the best opening to a show I've ever seen.

I agree. It is a brilliant title sequence. When I first started watching the series years ago, I had no idea what it was all about. I just stumbled on its opening while flipping channels. I immediately grasped that this show was going to be dark and sinister (wordplay intended) just by watching the "violent" imagery. Great choice of music, too!
Yeah agreed, from the slight little smirk when he kills the mosquito to the knowing little smirk at the end as he walks past, i knew i was going to like this show when i saw the opening credits heh.

I never once skipped this scene when I watched Dexter, it was so captivating to watch.

Could have been best show ever if it had wrapped up in season 5 with dexter going to prison or dying and gaining a cult status, like the dream fan fare parade he got at the end of season 1.

Yeah, this was a great little addition. I don’t know if it was intentional or just part of the song, but it’s so intuitive that I literally always thought he did wink.
I always loved at the end when he puts his shirt on, how blank and slightly sinister his stare is. It is his true face before he puts his "mask" on and leaves the door.
Dexter truly is a psychopath. He makes his breakfast one thing at a time and puts his shoes on before his shirt.

the intro just represents an overview of Dexter's mornings. It is not necessarily the same morning (That is it shows him having the steak one morning and then having eggs in another). Proof of that is that he's seen shaving at the beginning of the intro but then he's got a short beard at the end.

How I think of it, as I’ve told my friends who also like dexter is that dexter is now undecided in who he is as person, he doesn’t accept his urges and he doesn’t know how to deal with them but in the original series he accepted his urges, he dealt with them accordingly and lived the best possible life that he could. In this sense he lived his life in acceptance, we can see this in the way his manically makes his breakfast with a killers efficiency but in the new season there is no intro because he barely understands who he is, the new dexter is taking it day by day; there’s no way he can enjoy a simple breakfast
His eyes in the last few seconds of the video feel like he knows something that I don't and he is weirdly confident in his body. Love his attitude
This opening really shows just the talent behind the mind that put it together, this while sequence just feels designed to make you uncomfortable.

First of all it's a figure of speech. Second, I was talking about men who shave. And third, the point of my involvement in this comment is to correct people who think Dexter shaving and then walking out of his house with facial hair is a mistake, which it is not. That's all.
I can use figures of speech whenever I am speaking, that's why they are called figures of speech. Do you see him shave any part of his face aside from his neck? No. Any one who shaves would put together that he is simply shaving his neck. (Oh sorry, you take every thing literally because you have to pick apart every word someone says to you in order to use it against them, instead of having an actual valid argument, maybe I should say a lot of men who shave.) Maybe you don't have facial hair and that's fine, but being argued against with a very high possibility (him simply shaving his neck) and then saying your opinion is the "obvious" truth makes you seem immature. The only people who know for sure are the people who worked on the show.

I loved this show. I was going through a family tragedy and this show helped get me through it. Took my mind if of things for a while
Similar thing for me with a friend I ended up binging the entire show within a week and it kept my mind off it the whole time!

I'm going into advertising/marketing as a career. Headed off to college this fall. All I can say is that this is one of the best made intro videos of all time. The blend of everyday activities into his killings is amazing. Like the floss and shoe string compared to when he wraps the line around someone's neck or when he puts his shirt on as compared to saran wrap around the victim's bodies. Eyegasm

The intro when I first saw this basically tells you the tone of the series and I love it
After the disappointment that was New Blood I came back to this opening partly because it's a banger and partly because it reminds me of the older, better seasons.
i hoped they would put this music at the end

I would say it was one of the better seasons but the last 10 minutes ruined it,. They managed to make it worse than the last ending how do you f up twice and make it even worse at least with Dexter Original ending You Assumed Dexter never killed again, Harrison and Hannah lived a happy and healthy life and Harrison never knew
But wish they remade this intro with the same music but with a snow theme
