RARE AUDIO - Recorded inbetween sessions for Bowie's Let's Dance Single at The Power Station in Manhattan in 1982. Bowie apparently played around a lot with the song and really wanted to record it properly, but it was never to be.

I already have this on a bootleg cassette of a Van Halen yard party! I was gifted it by Noel Monk way back at an after-house party in Pasadena. Now I need to find the damn thing. There's also a version of "Five Years" and (of all things) Elvis Presley's "I'm Leaving" with Eddie Van Halen playing with a barely-tamed electric guitar. Those were crazy days.

Brilliant. Bowie will always be an icon to me, having listened to him as a teenager, from the start.
Sometimes, though... he did kinda unwittingly parody himself (especially when he slipped into his Anthony Newley).
I so miss the Steve Wright in the Afternoons segments when he had a Bowie asking, in tune, "Tell us what the time is, Steve". LOL
