Phillis Wheatley, as the family she was sold to was a wealthy family she got her place and the support to publish her works ....probably which may not have happened if she stayed in her own family conditions.....I accept Phillis must have been through struggle and hardship as an African American women and as a woman writer nodoubt she became a great writer I respect the view point of Alice Walker ,but point to be noted that Phillis got money and room of her own the atmosphere which let her work nurture as she was sold to a family which value her ability to write.If she was sold to a narrow minded family which probably have suppressed her ,she might not be able to write....A ROOM OF ONE'S OWN is truly an inspiring work not only for women but for everyone to get over our limited viewpoints about women and their capabilities.
