We came back from Paris last week and while we were there, we used the weekly pass for 30 EUR. It was worth it since we went to Disney twice and we mostly used the Metro, RER, and bus. The attendant told us that the card is valid for two years. I kept my card and will be using it again when I come back. I love Paris, such a beautiful city!
Hi! Where you able to use it to other zones? For instance zone no. 6? The hotel we are staying is near a station of zone 6. I am travelling to Paris 2-7 July, I am planning to get the weekly ticket but I am confused with the ticket as it says zones 1-5, i don’t see any ticket for zone no 6. Thank you!
@@shalomashalom2592 It's because 5 euros for the card and 30 for the weekly pass. When you buy another weekly pass it will be only 30 and not 35 anymore
So here's a big tip that doesn't get mentioned. The paper tickets can't be put _anywhere_ near your phone. For us NYC MetroCard users, this was a stunner. I blanked our CDG-Paris tickets in less than a minute. Yes, I was able to get them replaced, but the agent was not pleased with me. We had no idea they were that sensitive!!
I wish I read this comment before I came to Paris! Just got tickted a big 50Euros after my ticket would not scan at a second checkpoint deep in the metro system 😢 Now I dont even put my used tickets near my phone also 🫠
It happened to me back in March. I just told a member of staff at the barriers that the ticket wouldn't work and they just let me though without question.

I just returned from a great 2 week Paris stay. Thank you for all the suggestions, dining, walks, etc. One thing that helped during the strike was downloading the G7 taxi app on my phone. It's easy to use and has an English page. I scheduled a taxi for the trip to CDG a few days in advance. It arrived at my airbnb door 10 mins early, sent a text message when it arrived, and was a very pleasant ride. Traveller's should know that it's a prix fixe ride to and from the airport with a legit taxi company so no worries. Now i know about RATP and will use that for sure. My one error was forgetting to locate a Pablo machine to reclaim my VAT tax at the airport. I have to figure out if there's anything i can do now that i'm back in the States. I was going to visit Paris in May so maybe it was fate that I now can't but think I'll make it in September. I'm going to Newcastle on Tyne instead! Thanks for this advice. I've got my navigo easy card but I didn't find it so easy to use the machines as in 2019. But it looks like they've simplifued them again. It's probably just me! It's good how you can use the navigo on the buses and the funicular as well. I really liked going round on the local buses with the local people getting on and off and chatting to each other. Only of course it's very slow thanks to the Paris traffic but you get to see the neighbourhoods off the main boulevards.

Just came back from Paris today and wanted to thank you two from the bottom of my heart. This video (along with so many others you've done) helped me and my wife plan a truly lovely vacation we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We ended up going with the Navigo Easy, which worked well for us. We circumvented the huge line to purchase the cards at Gare de l'Est by walking to the closest Metro stop a block away - no line there and immediately got our passes and hopped on. Splurged on an Uber to get to the airport when we left, but I was blown away at how easy and plentiful the Paris public transit is. We did have one very late night when we ended up taking the Night Bus which worked out fine. Merci beaucoup again.

As an expat who lives in Paris, this is probably the question I get asked the MOST! Thank you, GREAT VIDEO. I shared this to my readers. Only comment I have, closing hours can be different on different lines. They don't always follow these schedules. Like everything else in Paris, they're suggestions 😜. I've had metros close 1/2-1 hour earlier, just because! So give yourself an allowance,. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE TRANSFERRING TRAINS. The later it gets, the riskier it gets since not as many trains run,
Thank you for this information! It was so helpful for us on our trip to France! We used the Moblis day ticket for 5 days (myself, husband, and daughter) when we were in Paris (Mon-Fri) and my husband was diligent collecting them and putting away as soon as we when through the turnstiles. The other awesome tip you had was for the app Bonjour RATP. HUGE help getting to the sites by directing us where to walk to the necessary Metro stop to get on and off, then map directions to walk to the place we were going to. I think we used the metro at least 20 times in the 4 1/2 days were were there. Love all your helpful videos!

We have the NAVIGO Weekly Pass it been great it pays off with just the airport cost. On our 1st trip 2019 we got them and our 2nd trip 2022 my husband just add the funds thru the app so it was ready when we arrived at Paris.

Thanks so much for the update While it’s great not to bother with paper tickets, I’m curious as to why they don’t have a pass that just allows you to add money & top up when your balance is low rather than having to select a ticket option first? Obviously longer trips will be more expensive but it just seems simpler. Anyway whatever the differences I’m still excited that I’ll be there in a few weeks. 😊
I didn't hear how us "old" folks (>70) buy tickets but I'm sure I heard in one of your videos that "seniors" get a discount. Bonjour Les Frenchies, for the moment only Android phones are compatible with the ticket gates. IPhone users can only recharge a navigo card, the phone can’t be used as a ticket on the ticket gate itself (updates from idfm to come this year) Great info explaining the different apps👏👏

I would definitely go with the Navigo Weekly Pass. Even if I come to Paris after Monday (so long as I don't stay passed Sunday at 11:59pm) it would be the best deal and trust me the need for a photo is not a deal breaker. I fly into CDG from EWR and immediately get one for the RER B. Then, I'm in Paris and living life baby!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Think about it from a mathematics' perspective. If the Navigo Weekly Pass (decouverte) costs 30 Euros (putting aside any fee for the card) and you take the RER B from CDG to Gare Nord for 11.45 Euros and THEN take the Metro (in my case the Line2 to Montmartre) that costs 2.10 Euros then that's 13.55 Euros. Multiply that by 2 for the return and that's a total of 27.10 euros right there! For the entire rest of the trip to Paris you're ahead; assuming that you're going to use le Metro as much as I usually do. As we say in the US the rest is all gravy! By the way, I love your charcuterie board. Whenever I have that on Fridays everyone loves the huggy huggy kissy kissy boards :) MBC and see you in Paris this November!

@@AngelSanchez-bk4qk it can be used same day to the end of Sunday (the weekly passes are valid Mon- Sun). You can top up for following week from Fri. You need to have a passport pic for weekly pass. Card has one-off charge of €5, valid for 10 years
This would have been just what I needed before my trip to Paris earlier this spring. I was trying to figure out the various ticket types and options, without success. Thanks for making it clear! (I ended up using only single-trip tickets. Which was fine, but not the most efficient method.) I'm used to local travel cards in other cities, but every city's transit system is different.
Great video again...my tip for over 50s like me , is before your visit do some kind of exercise to strengthen your leg muscles....because you will be going up and down a lot of stairs in the Metro and your legs will feel it
The bus system is fabulous. They go everywhere and you get to see the city too. Some metro stations have elevators or escalators. Check online to see which ones do. Be cautious about using Abbesses metro stop. Too many levels and steep steps. The elevator is sometimes not working too.
The metro is fun, takes you everywhere and is infinitely cheaper and less annoying than Uber. I watched these videos before I went on my second trip and what a difference.
I am loving your videos. I am an Australian about to go on my first overseas trip and have been feverishly YouTubing looking for tips and advice and your channel has been amazing. Coming from a rural remote small town of under 3000 people, we have no public transportation so it’s going to be a mind blowing experience for us and really quite intimidating. As an Aussie from a small town Paris can seem confusing, but it really is not. I used the apps and only had wifi. So in my accomodation I would plan the trip using wifi and take photos of each step. Then if I got confused, I had the stations and directions on my phone. The stations are easy to use. Enjoy your trip and make sure you just tray a plain baguette and butter.....and eat the croissants!!

We are doing a two-day side trip to the Loire Valley to stay at Relais de Chambord, and we will be doing a hot air balloon adventure (right from Colleen's bucket list! 😄 SO excited!). Please, please, please, if you have the weekly pass, don't forget to get your picture attached to the pass! Last year while in Paris, we let an attendant talk us into putting our own picture in after we got back to our room! Guess who forgot to do that? Yep, $35 fine each for both me and my wife. Wasn't a happy day, besides it took the pass checker over 20 min's to get our fine paid and on our way... boooo hoooo! Please correct me if I am wrong, but @ 6:49: You don't need internet connection to devalue your ticket, according to the website of SNCF, you just need NFC being supported by your phone and activated. Internet connection is only required for buying tickets (which can be done in the home country).

We were in Paris in December and we were able to get a navigo easy card from one of the machines in the George V metro station. We used the metro, RER and busses and they were all great particularly the busses. Super easy to use and get around. Thanks for your great videos, helped us immensely.

When I was in Paris in April 2022, I was able to buy a 3-day (72-hour) unlimited ticket I used inside Paris. I did have to buy a single trip ticket to use the RER to get to the airport. I bought my tickets from an attendant at one of the smaller metro stations. I had to pay cash, but that wasn't an issue at the time. I don't recall the prices I had to pay. The 3-day ticket was one of the paper versions that you have to insert into the gates.
Merci! I'll be in Paris later in the year and I was soooooo hoping that they upgraded the ticket system since I was there in 2007. I hated the little blue "carne" tickets. Could never keep them straight in my pockets and if you didn't have the right one you couldn't get out of the turnstile after your ride. I know it's been a while since they fixed it, but I'm so happy to see the upgrade! Woo hoo! :-)
Hello. I don't know if it has been said here before. If you are coming into Paris with the TGV, you can buy métro tickets at the bar on the train. It proves very helpful when you get to a very busy railway station and saves you queuing on arrival.

If you are leaving on an early flight, make sure you buy your Paris to CDG ticket at least one day earlier because there might not be open ticket booths and the stations you will be passing through may not have ticket machines. They are not the same machines where you reload your Metro rides.

I am a tourist in Paris now and i have just bought the navigo card. The employer didn't speak English at all... She charged me 5 euro for the card and 30 euro for the weekly pass..... I have paid 70 euro for me and my husband. Nobody ever told us that we need a photograph and the other card wich comes with the navigo card with us. It didnt seem so important because we bought it just for three days...... An auditor just stopped us and we gave him our cards. He made my husband pay 35 euros for not having a photograph and me 45 euros for not having photograph and the other card..... We showed him the receipt from the purchase today but he didnt care at all. Never failed so bad in my life. It ruined my holiday.

I paid €35 for my card... SMH. But I love Paris more than London, will be going back in September.

We just came back from staying a week in a resort near Disneyland Paris. Thank you for of all your videos. We watched many of them and they made our day trips to Paris a succes. Because of this video, we bought the weekpass. It saved us a lot of stress of buying tickets.
Just came back from Paris today and wanted to thank you two from the bottom of my heart. This video (along with so many others you've done) helped me and my wife plan a truly lovely vacation we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
We ended up going with the Navigo Easy, which worked well for us. We circumvented the huge line to purchase the cards at Gare de l'Est by walking to the closest Metro stop a block away - no line there and immediately got our passes and hopped on. Splurged on an Uber to get to the airport when we left, but I was blown away at how easy and plentiful the Paris public transit is. We did have one very late night when we ended up taking the Night Bus which worked out fine. Merci beaucoup again.

We bought the weekly unlimited Navigo pass and it was great value; I can't recommend it highly enough.

Only comment I have, closing hours can be different on different lines. They don't always follow these schedules. Like everything else in Paris, they're suggestions 😜. I've had metros close 1/2-1 hour earlier, just because! So give yourself an allowance,. ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE TRANSFERRING TRAINS. The later it gets, the riskier it gets since not as many trains run,

Thank you for this information! It was so helpful for us on our trip to France! We used the Moblis day ticket for 5 days (myself, husband, and daughter) when we were in Paris (Mon-Fri) and my husband was diligent collecting them and putting away as soon as we when through the turnstiles. The other awesome tip you had was for the app Bonjour RATP. HUGE help getting to the sites by directing us where to walk to the necessary Metro stop to get on and off, then map directions to walk to the place we were going to. I think we used the metro at least 20 times in the 4 1/2 days were were there. Love all your helpful videos!

We have the NAVIGO Weekly Pass it been great it pays off with just the airport cost. On our 1st trip 2019 we got them and our 2nd trip 2022 my husband just add the funds thru the app so it was ready when we arrived at Paris.

While it’s great not to bother with paper tickets, I’m curious as to why they don’t have a pass that just allows you to add money & top up when your balance is low rather than having to select a ticket option first? Obviously longer trips will be more expensive but it just seems simpler.

Bonjour Les Frenchies, for the moment only Android phones are compatible with the ticket gates. IPhone users can only recharge a navigo card, the phone can’t be used as a ticket on the ticket gate itself (updates from idfm to come this year)

I would definitely go with the Navigo Weekly Pass. Even if I come to Paris after Monday (so long as I don't stay passed Sunday at 11:59pm) it would be the best deal and trust me the need for a photo is not a deal breaker. I fly into CDG from EWR and immediately get one for the RER B. Then, I'm in Paris and living life baby!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Think about it from a mathematics' perspective. If the Navigo Weekly Pass (decouverte) costs 30 Euros (putting aside any fee for the card) and you take the RER B from CDG to Gare Nord for 11.45 Euros and THEN take the Metro (in my case the Line2 to Montmartre) that costs 2.10 Euros then that's 13.55 Euros. Multiply that by 2 for the return and that's a total of 27.10 euros right there! For the entire rest of the trip to Paris you're ahead; assuming that you're going to use le Metro as much as I usually do. As we say in the US the rest is all gravy!

If i get the navigo weekly pass (decouverte) on Tuesday.. Can I use from same day to Sunday?? or next day Wednesday to Sunday??... or next Monday???
@@AngelSanchez-bk4qk it can be used same day to the end of Sunday (the weekly passes are valid Mon- Sun). You can top up for following week from Fri. You need to have a passport pic for weekly pass. Card has one-off charge of €5, valid for 10 years

This would have been just what I needed before my trip to Paris earlier this spring. I was trying to figure out the various ticket types and options, without success. Thanks for making it clear! (I ended up using only single-trip tickets. Which was fine, but not the most efficient method.) I'm used to local travel cards in other cities, but every city's transit system is different.
Great video again...my tip for over 50s like me , is before your visit do some kind of exercise to strengthen your leg muscles....because you will be going up and down a lot of stairs in the Metro and your legs will feel it
The bus system is fabulous. They go everywhere and you get to see the city too. Some metro stations have elevators or escalators. Check online to see which ones do. Be cautious about using Abbesses metro stop. Too many levels and steep steps. The elevator is sometimes not working too.
The metro is fun, takes you everywhere and is infinitely cheaper and less annoying than Uber.

Coming from a rural remote small town of under 3000 people, we have no public transportation so it’s going to be a mind blowing experience for us and really quite intimidating. We are anxiously watching the news with the protests at the moment and hoping things settle down when we get there in 5 weeks time. We are doing all the touristy things and this video on the metro will help getting to Versailles and giverney. As an Aussie from a small town Paris can seem confusing, but it really is not. I used the apps and only had wifi. So in my accomodation I would plan the trip using wifi and take photos of each step. Then if I got confused, I had the stations and directions on my phone. The stations are easy to use. Enjoy your trip and make sure you just tray a plain baguette and butter.....and eat the croissants!!

Hubby and I are headed to Paris for the first time ever in June, and we have been bingeing all of your wonderful videos. MERCI BEAUCOUP Antoine and Colleen for being so helpful and informative! We are doing a two-day side trip to the Loire Valley to stay at Relais de Chambord, and we will be doing a hot air balloon adventure (right from Colleen's bucket list! 😄 SO excited!). The hotel advised for us to just take a train from Paris to the station at Blois-Chambord, and then utilize a private driver from there to get us to Chateaux de Chambord.

Please, please, please, if you have the weekly pass, don't forget to get your picture attached to the pass! Last year while in Paris, we let an attendant talk us into putting our own picture in after we got back to our room! Guess who forgot to do that? Yep, $35 fine each for both me and my wife. Wasn't a happy day, besides it took the pass checker over 20 min's to get our fine paid and on our way... boooo hoooo! Please correct me if I am wrong, but @ 6:49: You don't need internet connection to devalue your ticket, according to the website of SNCF, you just need NFC being supported by your phone and activated. Internet connection is only required for buying tickets (which can be done in the home country).

We were in Paris in December and we were able to get a navigo easy card from one of the machines in the George V metro station. We used the metro, RER and busses and they were all great particularly the busses. Super easy to use and get around. Thanks for your great videos, helped us immensely.

When I was in Paris in April 2022, I was able to buy a 3-day (72-hour) unlimited ticket I used inside Paris. I did have to buy a single trip ticket to use the RER to get to the airport. I bought my tickets from an attendant at one of the smaller metro stations. I had to pay cash, but that wasn't an issue at the time. I don't recall the prices I had to pay. The 3-day ticket was one of the paper versions that you have to insert into the gates.
Merci! I'll be in Paris later in the year and I was soooooo hoping that they upgraded the ticket system since I was there in 2007. I hated the little blue "carne" tickets. Could never keep them straight in my pockets and if you didn't have the right one you couldn't get out of the turnstile after your ride. I know it's been a while since they fixed it, but I'm so happy to see the upgrade! Woo hoo! :-)
Hello. I don't know if it has been said here before. If you are coming into Paris with the TGV, you can buy métro tickets at the bar on the train. It proves very helpful when you get to a very busy railway station and saves you queuing on arrival.
Is that the Eurostar?

If you are leaving on an early flight, make sure you buy your Paris to CDG ticket at least one day earlier because there might not be open ticket booths and the stations you will be passing through may not have ticket machines. They are not the same machines where you reload your Metro rides.

If you start a journey on a Mobilis one day travel pass are you allowed to complete that same journey on the travel pass after midnight?

I am a tourist in Paris now and i have just bought the navigo card. The employer didn't speak English at all... She charged me 5 euro for the card and 30 euro for the weekly pass..... I have paid 70 euro for me and my husband. Nobody ever told us that we need a photograph and the other card wich comes with the navigo card with us. It didnt seem so important because we bought it just for three days...... An auditor just stopped us and we gave him our cards. He made my husband pay 35 euros for not having a photograph and me 45 euros for not having photograph and the other card..... We showed him the receipt from the purchase today but he didnt care at all. Never failed so bad in my life. It ruined my holiday.
