Around 1:30 when you play Ramble On... You're a great guitarist Greg, so you'd probably do any instrument justice, but Jesus Christ, those lows are so big and confident, the mids so loud and colorful, the highs so innocent and sweet. Seriously one of the nicest guitars I've ever heard, period. I have no idea how these are selling for only $1500.
Greg is such a good player that he could make a toy store guitar sound good. I used to live very near to him and hear him frequently. A great talent. Sometimes, he is hard to take seriously because he can play anything yet jokes about what he plays. The guitar... oh yeah the guitar. It is an excellent guitar, even though it was only made for about 5 years. In fact, maybe it was too good of a guitar. It may have cut into J45 and J35 sales?
I don't understand it at all !!! Having watched many of Gregs videos, I was inspired to try several J15s and a J45 in a local store here in the UK.....they were bloody awful !!! dull, lifeless, shockingly high action, hard to play.... I could live to be 500 and still never hold a candle to this master guitarist, but after 40 years, I know a good guitar when I see one, and I reckon myself to be a fairly decent player. Could it be that these guitars are specially set up for Greg, or perhaps the recording techniques somehow enhance the tones.? I was very underwhelmed and won't be buying. Gutted !
Maybe it's you and not the guitar. ;-) But seriously, I haven't played one yet, but it clearly sounds great, I'm a big fan of guitars that use sustainable tonewoods, and if you read the reviews from say Acoustic in the UK or Premier Guitar, they are overwhelmingly positive about the Gibson J-15. Same for nearly ever user review I've read.
Bubbacat54 I think with new strings on and a proper set up, you cant go wrong with Gibson. I bought new J45 2016. In the store it didn't sound like in these youtube reviews, ears can deceive us, but as i said, proper action set up and new strings, that's all. And it gets better and better with time.
It’s all personal preference, in my opinion I’ve never played a Gibson acoustic that I disliked. Just got a 2017 j45 cutaway and it’s the last acoustic I will ever buy
had to take one of these J-15's home with me. Gibson made a winner with this one. Love mine!
Wow....this boy can PLAY! I wish I could make my J15 sound like that! lol

Nick that's because strings get duller with they are older...
