I’m as old fashioned as anyone, but I could see this program being used as a co-writer of sorts.
Aw Mike, gutted that I missed this livestream! Where did you notify, so I won't miss the next one?
Hi Dave, it was a bit of a last minute one, but I advertised on Facebook.
That was fun. Would like to hear it make an EDM track sometime.
Unfortunately, there will be a whole generation coming up that will find pleasure in creating AI songs and will be proud of it. They won't have to put the time and energy into learning to play an instrument or, for that matter, even how to read or write. Just tell AI what you want, and there it is. I can see people paying hundreds of dollars to go watch AI simulated people sing AI songs.
Not a world I want to live in. Not a world anyone needs or wants. Who wants AI music? No One. Why? Because the value in music Is the time you put in It to became better and better.
What I don't get is how the technology takes tiny unrecognizable fragments of music and stitches it together with proper pitch, timing, and mostly without audible glitches, etc. If it is just sampling existing recordings there must be some incredible stem-splitting to isolate instruments. Anybody understand how this actually works?
My emotions ranged from hysterical at the squirrels through to incredulous at everything else! With the tech at the moment I'm not in the least bit worried about AI. As to the future? Who knows?
Today’s chat question: "Do you use artificially generated music?" The answer is: Never! The A.I It's a gadget, an amusement, entertainment for a while and nothing more but this. Whole music I create is 100% mine and original. Music encapsulates emotions in short audio pieces. If you can’t create or play it yourself, why cheat yourself and others? That’s all! I love creating music, my worlds, my melodies, my atmosphere. This is what creativity and art are all about, because they are created by humans and result from emotional states, inspirations, or experiences. Machines are devoid of this, so their ‘art’ is also devoid of it. That was a great live stream! Best Regards!
Well stated. I feel very much the same.
@ADRIANO-MUSIC
You say AI is "a gadget, an amusement, entertainment for a while and nothing more than this." Personal computing was a game changer. The internet was a game changer. Social networks were a game changer. AI is a bigger game changer than all those put together. For good or for bad, it's not going anywhere. Resistance is futile...
yeah.. AI will get better (or probably is already in the industry) but using suno .. 12 birthday songs for my wife and after a while I chose shorter ones (as they all drag on and repeat) and the lyrics were.. not so good, I mentioned her age and it started talking about tears and wrinkles and emotional issues.. meh.. suno is limited or maybe I'd find one if I spend a lot of time personalizing it and making my own lyrics (which you can). But it is too perfect to hit an emotional string, too computerized. Once on Startrek Discovery 7of9 was playing the piano and the doctor came and told her to put in pauses and delays to make the song more human.. get my drift? But Rick Beato said that AI is now starting to learn that too.
Perhaps you can get some ideas from the AI songs, but it´s too much simple and repetitive in my opinion. Thanks for doing this 👍👍
I'm not a huge fan of AI music, but I wouldn't judge it based on silly prompts.
Are you growing a moustache???
If you play the songs at double speed you can clearly hear the auto tuned artefacts which you don’t get with a human (who’s not been overly tuned). None of these efforts were in any way surprising, musically or production wise.
I think this is great tool for idea creation but the output sounds very "encyclopedic", with very little passion and flare. Like an accountant trying to write a romance novel.
AI-tools should be used to do things, that have to be done. Music does not belong to this category. Creating music (and arts in general) is a personal desire, that can not be artificially generated.
Resistance is futile...
Resistance is futile
I recall that digital effects were met with similar reactions at first. Hopefully AI is given the opportunity to learn how it can be implemented with control to make it more of a creative experience that enhances creativity rather than control it. AI is still actually programmed by humans with their influence on the ultimate outcome.
Using effects, even the most advanced ones, is not the same as creating an entire work with a single click. We all use effects, but a machine to do the whole composition for me? What satisfaction comes from that? As for supporting creativity, I see that DAW programs are going in the wrong direction by adding options that hold the key (you can't make false tone) or arrange whole chords. Because their users expect it. I don't know if a talented musician needs such "support". Greetings!
Nice one.
We are peept up and make Human music.
AI is a tool and copyright is gone away or so.
Honestly it all sounded really generic lyrically. Musically it is all rather bland. Not something I will be rushing out to try.
Yup, I tend to agree with you.
AI is good for informations but for creative tasks is horrible.
