I would love the controller I don’t have a PS5 yet but I hope to get one soon. It’s actually in one of my favorite colors red so it would fit me perfectly. Btw I love the shorts you guys do. I especially love when you record your employee making someone’s new controller. If possible I would love to see a longer video of how you take it apart, how you solder on the back buttons and how it goes back together. Keep up the great work.
@@Thetruetank101984 Possibly. The controller works fine if it's plugged in but doesn't work when I try to use batteries. I'll take it apart again and double check everything. Thanks!
i had problems with "A" button registering twice and D pad left button oddities so i took it apart to fix it. as i was doing this i accidentally ripped out the rumble motor on one side so i thought id rip out all 4 rumble connections, i didnt have a soldering iron, and now i have a lighter controller
Yup, I'm back! Been working hard on some updates to my workflow and also XboxDIY.com if you get a chance to poke around there. Thanks for stopping in :)
Found my scuf with four paddles needed some work as each paddle has two little wires connecting to the board and it's quite tough to precisely put it together
There I was, trying to fix my Logitech F710 controller, which lately had been making random inputs on not just the analog stick, but the buttons as well. Just when I was going to put everything back in, things went south. I noticed that I had accidentally broke off the left rumble motor. I started to have an emotional breakdown, as I had broken my only good controller. I have an Xbox 360 controller and a PS4 Controller. The main problem is that the Xbox 360 controller has this drift, making it so that both analog sticks are slightly up and not at the center, and the sticks themselves feel wobbly. The PS4 controller, on the other hand, some of the games will support them, others do not. Worst of all, my family didn't have a soldering kit, so we had to order a new Logitech controller. I just feel so damn sentimental. That shit was my favorite controller, but on the other hand, it's been worn out so much.
Any tips on the temperature to use? I fixed a push button contact on a previous controller and now the thumbstick component broke. When desoldering the bumper, I was around 275° C, but that doesn’t seem to work for the smaller parts on the thumbstick chassis.
How do you solder the sync button on the motherboard? Its incredibly tiny. I find my self replacing the board because theres no clarity on how to solder that tiny button.
I broke my wires on my left on the controller not the button side they are attached to the trigger but don't attach to the motherboard but every button still works so what are these cabbles for???? PLEASE HELP
Going to try this now! I can't do anything, home screen can't click over, playing gta v, can't aim & in constant reverse. Opened up the controller (since new ones are pricey) and cleaned it, didn't see anything out of the norm and everything moved & pushed the way they should, but I noticed the black wire on the right is off. (if this doesn't help, any ideas what could be wrong? never got wet and only dropped it 3 times (about) but it still worked,, oddly it started acting up when the software updated. Thanks! Will let you know if this works! driving me crazy lol
I accidentally ripped out the left (larger) rumble motor on the left side of the controller. After soldering the wires to the correct places and checking with a multimeter to make sure it's connected, it will no longer rumble (at all). Only the right rumble motor activates when I connect it to my PC via a cable, and bluetooth no longer has vibration. Any suggestions? Maybe I should redo the soldering or something?
I have not made any about fixing stick drift, but you can try a few things like cleaning your controller and/or replacing the buttons to see if it helps! I'm working on getting a suggestion board up so people can suggestion and vote on the next videos. Check out my community page for updates!

So for the triggers on my Xbox one controller it looks like one wire for the rignt trigger is frayed a little bit and is now showing would you say that would cause one of the triggers to stick? And how would I go about repairing that?
One side of my audio jack in the controller is disconnected from the motherboard so if I just soldered the two back onto The motherboard would it fix it
well i rougly already know how to solder. and fixed the rumbpe motors before. but im having a great deal of trouble with the hall effect sensor. I tried replacing it with another controller's hall effect sensor but couldn't even get it off. have any idea why? btw to be more detailed for whatever reason I couldn't melt the solder not one bit.
Yup - there are two sections of wires one each side. One for trigger rumble motors. One for handle rumble motors. Although those are different, they are symmetrical on both sides.
Xbox DIY my controller isn't working now for some reason, I broke the rumble motors cords on the right side accidently while adding a controller shell and got them repaired by a professional, red wire on top black on bottom and yea I don't know why it's not working, any advice or?

can i solder elite analog switch into a normal xbox controller? will it last longer? my xbox one lasted 1 year on the dot before analog start to drift slowly

Can someone help me out. My xbox controller sync button broke off but i cant find anything on replacing it. I looked for the part but all i can find is the plastic button not the button attached to the board. Does anyone know where i can find that button?
hi, although I appreciate your good will, the job you've done is very poor from a technical point of view. it' ok as diy but from a tutorial standpoint you should see how professional work and redo everything properly
Is this specific to surface mount soldering? Reason being, is there isn't a whole lot of information out there on this specific use case. Do you need a lower powered soldering iron? I don't mind amending information in a video if it's bad, but I need some type of evidence to base it on. Everything I researched and people I talked to about this said to avoid the mount itself.
Xbox DIY ok first off sorry i was a bit of a dick aha , secondly yes you can watch any how to on surface mount soldering bud and youll see you need to heat the pad then droo the component to the pad for the second side if it was a sirface mount resistor for example then holding the iron to the area covering the pad and feeding solder to it will give you the best result. Check it out or even try it out ! Also if you feel you are burning your pads ect jsut lower your head or get an adjustable iron
use a flux pen on the board to prevent the areas from being burned, be generous with the amount of flux applied

Also use lead free solder. And remember always always always clean it with the alchohol. Never leave flux on a board.
I just used 60:40 solder and now my controller wont turn on. Do you think that could be the culprit?
@@StickyKleenex did you maybe swap a wire somewhere
Or maybe what's called a solder bridge. (Solder going from one pad to another that shouldn't be connected together)

Can also use a solder wick. To clean the area you can use rubbing alcohol (min 91% alcohol).
