iPhone 11 Wet Does Not Turn On

Today I bring you an interesting repair case for an iPhone 11 that has suffered moisture damage. It has come to us directly from Barcelona and the task is to bring this device back to life, a repair that has a total cost of 158 euros.

We start by removing the two screws at the bottom and applying heat at 90ºC to soften the adhesive that joins the screen to the body of the device. Then, we lift the screen with an ultra-fine pick, previously polished, to avoid damage.
Next, we inspect the device for signs of moisture. We discovered a pink sticker that should be white under normal conditions, but changes color when in contact with liquids. We continue removing the screws and the metal plates, and we disconnect the battery connector and the flexes from the screen.

To verify the real state of the device, we connect it to a laboratory source, which allows us to check if there is any short circuit or strange consumption on the motherboard. Fortunately, the device seems to turn on correctly and goes into power saving mode, indicating that it is healthy.
Unfortunately, the display connectors show signs of corrosion, which have caused a short to the motherboard connectors. To solve this problem, we lift the protective foam and clean the corrosion with a contact cleaner.
The next step is to repair the connector pins. To do this, we apply flux and tin paste, and with the soldering iron tip at 350ºC, we go over all the damaged tracks. Finally, we clean the work area with contact cleaner or isopropyl alcohol.
After mounting the screen again and checking its operation, we found a problem: Face ID does not work. But don't worry, I have already posted a video detailing how to fix Face ID.
Repairing an iPhone affected by moisture is a meticulous job, and to do it you will need quality tools. Although 158 euros may seem like a lot, considering the complexity of the job and the value of the phone, I think it's a reasonable price.
