You should purchase a soft bristle broom and a paint tray, will make painting the deck a whole lot faster an save the knees. Yaba is looking fantastic, keep up the good work, and have a merry Christmas
When pouring liquids from a container without a spout in the centre, hold the can with the spout at the TOP, not the BOTTOM. This prevents the air replacing the liquid to `bloop`, resulting in a faster, cleaner and more controllable pour. Try it.
No doubt I don't get why they waited so long with the most important job and still not done remember on a boat the decks are also your ceiling @@phlodel
Shower and a back massage, Ben after all this you would have been completely drained, but one thing for sure you know how to fight back when nature throws it tantrums at you, hats off to your determination
MP's smiley face pre paint/varnish ritual never fails to make me laugh out loud. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful spirit with us. You are a jewel! I am a huge fan of all the wood and agree painting it would be an insult to the wood and the craftsman who built it...... still holding out hope to see that subscriber count go up by Christmas!! May the algorithm be ever in your favor!! 🙂
Amazing 🎉. Wanted you to do the deck for ages. Thought it would be a week long , all hands on deck , project. You hammer it out in a day . Amazing sir 👏🏻
Ben why are you using the grinder? I think that a beltsander would work better, plus less likely to dig into the wood. It's would be better at keeping the sanding of the wood level. 😊
Funny. Before I started sailing I was a guitarist. During that time I always treated my fretboards with lemonoil, to prevent drying out. Those fretboards were ebony and rosewood. Then I bought a sailing yacht with a teak deck which was not varnished or oiled. So I made my own lemon oil in a bigger quantity. Did the deck and kept it in perfect shape'. I think oil on wood is better than varnish.
Amazing job on the decks Ben🎉. Wow and what a job... Phew. Knew they'd be amazing!!! Beautiful kitchen cabinets MP, so glad you varnished them!! They are really gorgeous!!! 🎊. Love the smileys too!!! Always makes me smile!! 🤗
Get a 9" wand/stick sander, they are inexpensive and make sanding a joy compared to hand sanders. I use one for sanding wood house decks. Makes them look brand new and the vac hose system makes it almost dust free.
Wow! Transformational. The deck has always been a bit of a mystery-not just wondering when it would finally be done, but also what it would look like. Now that you’ve started, it’s less about those details and more about how it ties the different finished areas together into a cohesive space. The cupboard doors look so much better varnished, too. If they were finished in rattan at some later point, that would also look great!
Hi Ben. Since you are working nearby the anchor chain locker, why don´t you flip upside down the padlock hinge? You mention it almost 1 year ago while you were still on the shipyard due to safety reasons. If you (or anybody else for that matter) is working inside that locker and the hatch suddenly closes and locks, you will find a hard time to get out of there. Small things matters and make a big difference. BTW: every thing is looking amazing. Cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina. Saludos!
Teak oil is definitely an option for the deck, and it gives the wood a really rich, natural look. The downside is that it doesn’t have UV protection, so the wood can still gray and weather over time, and you’ll need to reapply it pretty often, especially on a deck that sees a lot of sun and foot traffic. That’s why we went with Cetol instead. It not only looks great but also adds a layer of protection against UV rays and weather. It’s more durable and requires way less maintenance, which is a big plus for us since we’re always on the move. So while teak oil works if you’re okay with frequent touch-ups, Cetol is just a bit more practical for a boat deck. Or at least that's what we're hoping! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Pretty natural wood colors!!! \o/ ... From the 22nd to the 27th I will be out of Internet range for most of the time so I may miss some videos, 😥... HOWEVER! I can always catch up afterwards!! 😂 Put Yabá's Best Cloths On !!!!!!
I have used cetol for years. Not maintenance free but not as labour intensive as varnish. Cetol just wears away and can be recoated, varnish flakes off and needs to be sanded or stripped. Good choice!
Maybe something like fine sand added to the deck surface for traction for when the rain pours, or the seas get rough? Slips and falls on wet decks are no joke. I know. I damn near skewered myself on a stanchion. Ouch, ouch, ouch.
Great show ,today is the shortest day that’s a big thing up here in Alaska we light off fireworks and bonfires to welcome in the new light happy winter solstice
I was wondering when you were planning to do the decks..I would have thought that you would have went lighter on the decks to help keep the heat down inside, and easier on bare feet
Here's a thought about those lovely kitchen cabinets: Try a colored wood stain. Sounds odd, but I've used it to good effect. Painting that wood would be a crime. Look it up and see the effects I'm talking about to see if you like that sort of thing. Meanwhile, cheers (and Merry Christmas) from the beautiful coast of Maine! 💚💚💚💚
Awesome oh glorious sanding episode. Ben might I suggest you save your back and use a roller to apply additional coats? It will make doing top up coats in the future a lot less of a chore.
Thanks for the daily posts. You are much appreciated! You two work so hard it is inspiring to me as I have an old boat (35 years old) which has a long list too. Happy Christmas 🎄!!!
Ben🔥 & Yaba's 🔥 on this great video. Super Job, sir. Looks sharp. 👌Keep it going 👍. I'll be so glad to see the swimming ladder put in. 😎 Even better steps off rear for boarding be great after Dingy's Rig is in place & maybe room for it. Happy Days, Yaba Crew. Dennis USA 🇺🇸 N.C. 😎. Work Ben 💪 .

you two are what the world needs more of, well done,
Wow! that deck looks great and I am pleased that MP went with the varnish on the cupboard doors. Sterling work all round. Keep well and safe. James.
Ben and MP are SUCH hard workers. Yaba' wouldn't be so beautiful without their loving dedication to her.

My back and knees are killing me just watching you and sanding of the deck! It looks great by the way!
Ah, but at Ben's age, I'd have been all over it.
...me too! Everything aching just of watching...!😂

Ben, your work ethic is top-notch. That deck is gorgeous, and I really hope that product works out! 3 more!
I'm so happy to be getting Daily Doses of Yabá updates..!! Thank you..!! ❤
Great choice on not going with white on the cabinets!!!!
Now it's almost fully dressed.. looking amazing
That's the way to push through and complete the deck. Thanks for sharing, see You tomorrow.
Shower and a back massage, Ben after all this you would have been completely drained, but one thing for sure you know how to fight back when nature throws it tantrums at you, hats off to your determination
Enjoying your work but not as much as your joy! Bravo!!

G'day Crew,
Almost there guys ,
YABA is really starting to shine , she will soon be at her best .
Great effort guys.
Respect...!
Quase lá Esta ficando ótimo. O TABA esta ficando muito lindo⛵⚓⛵⚓
Your hard work is paying off. The beauty of Yaba is coming to life. Keep it up.
Eu nunca pensei que chegaria o dia em que vocês protegeriam o assoalho, mas finalmente esta sendo feito e vai ficar lindo.☺️☺️☺️
Mp you've make a good choice about the cabinet,,the varnish it's much better than white, keep the local style.
a belt sander would be the more appropriate tool for that job.
I agree it would be wicked to paint those beautiful doors. I'm pleased that you're "oiling" the decks as the varnish did concern me.
Your varnished cabinets look beautiful! You guys are making me tired, but you are so inspirational. You make me want to work on my boat. 😎🤗🥰❤️⚓️
MP, leave it just like that. It is beautiful!!!!!
The deck and the cupboard doors look gorgeous.👏🏻❤️
She’s looking good. The deck turned out great 👍 😅
MP, the cabinets look really nice. I remember when you took on the job of rebuilding the motor. Wow! You two are amazing. Get some rest.
I was so relieved when I read you're not going to varnish the deck! I think it's called "stain". The deck looks GREAT!
The boat is really looking good the finishing up details are bringing it all together .
Yes . I luv the natural wood . Cause of the color and the wave effect of the grain .

Impressed with how much he got done today but remember still not done
Use stickers or framed pictures of waves . You can change your wall for a fresh look .
The deck is looking so pretty Ben. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The varnished wood cupboard is beautiful.
Boa noite pessoal.😊😊😊
Wow, I thought you guys would never do the decks. Finally. They look great.
Sanding, oh glorious sanding!
It's looking absolutely amazing!!! Keep up the good work!❤❤❤
Thank you for all the shows this month and all the work on the boat. WOW! Looking good 🙂
The deck looks great after sanding ... curious to see the final result! 😍😍😍
Deck looks amazing.
Love you Mp, great job on the cabinets
It has been very fun watching you guys doing these daily episodes and the progress is wonderful. The decks and the cabinet doors are things of beauty.
My OCD has been begging for this video for a year at least. Glad to see it’s finally getting done.

Strong work!! As always, thanks for taking us along.
Looks great. Keep being awesome team.
You are doing a great job , the boat is looking so good 😊😊🎉
The deck came out great--Nice job !!!
Looking good guys, can't wait to see the final results. 😎👍
Thanks, we're getting there! 🙂
The decks look amazing, congrats on the hard work, it really paid off.

Bom dia MP@Ben como comentei tudo se conquista com paciência e Vcs estão de parabéns os objetivos estão sendo atingido
Great outcome on the deck! You guys are busting your butts getting all those projects knocked out. 🎄
I’ve used veto on my boat for 20 years and it is exceptional. Never have to sand between coats and looks great. Gallivant Catalina 36 Lake Michigan.

That’s the cool/maddening thing about the rain is invariably whatever you wish for the exact opposite will occur.😂😂😂
TEAK OIL ON DECK !
TEAK OIL !

Decks are meant to grey. Cetol will fail miserably and is impossible to remove. Teak oil just provides food for algae and turns black
@@SailingYaba To stop the greying, wood decks were stoned with a pummace block. Old US Navy ships that had wood decks were treated in this manner.
It's a massive job,well done mate.👍
looks massively nice
You made the right choice with the deck sealer , but you need help LOL so much work in that hot weather God bless you both ,
Amazing progress guys well done !

Day 21:
🎅 Almost there! Your holiday spirit is contagious! How do you spread Christmas cheer to other sailors or locals nearby? 🎁✨
The deck is looking so sweet. You are plowing through these jobs. Take care.
It's not called a kitchen in a boat. ;)
Merry Christmas from Bergen, Norway
Yopu are so hard working. Well done !!!😅
Now Yaba's looking like a Yacht
You always amaze me with your beautiful work on your ship.😊❤
Thanks for keeping the wood cabinets unpainted, it's beautiful wood and speaks for itself. May I suggest you put your wave on the backsplash?
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️

That's a lovely tradition, Happy Winter Solstice to you!
Hi Ben, glad you decided to use an oil on the deck was getting worried when you kept saying you were going to just varnish it 😊
Ben, you’re an ANIMAL! Where do you find the energy? Well done sir!👏
Looks Good !! That was a lot of work but its paying off !! Boat looks so cool :)
The cabinet doors look beautiful so glad you didn’t paint them. The deck also looks awesome too
