- E.D.P.S. were a no wave inspired post-punk band founded by guitarist Tsunematsu Masatoshi (ex- Friction). This is the second track off of their album 'Blue Sphinx', released 1983.

Masatoshi Tsunematsu (Masatoshi Tsunematsu, August 3, 1952-) is a Japanese musician and painter. Enrolled as a friction guitarist from 1978 to 1980. Since then, he has been focusing on his own band and activities as a painter. Born in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
After graduating from Kumamoto Prefectural Hitoyoshi High School, entered Tokyo University of the Arts. In 1978, while still a student at the same graduate school, he released his 1st single "Do You Wanna BeMy Dog ・ g ・ g!" From Godzilla Records under the name of Masatoshi Tsunematsu.
After that, he joined Friction as a guitarist and was involved in the production of Friction's first full-length album "Friction". After leaving in 1980, he participated as a guitarist in Ko Machida + THE GLORY, which was formed by EDPS, who plays vocal guitar, and Ko Machida. Currently, his activities are centered on the Masatoshi Tsunematsu group and acoustic solos.
He has been active as a painter for many years, and has held solo exhibitions at art galleries and department stores nationwide, mainly in Tokyo and Kumamoto prefectures. In addition, he has participated in "Sky High" (directed by Ryuhei Kitamura) and "Hakuchi (1999 movie)" (directed by Macoto Tezuka) as an image art and art director.
EDPSは、カテゴリとしてPUNKでありFUNK BEATが効いているという感覚の音です。当時の日本のＰＵＮＫシーンの程度の低さからすれば、雲泥のカッコよさでした。
EDPS is PUNK group, the sonuds was fused with FUNK BEAT. THEY GAVE HIGH POTENTIAL COOL FEEL TO US because when the PUNK MUSIC SCENE in JAPAN has LOW SPEC.

ここだけの話、ラストのライブ盤のほうが１００倍良いのですが（オーバーダビングほぼなし、とツネマツ画伯自身がおっしゃってました）、あらためて聴くとこちらも味があります。
あのライブ盤は曲のつなぎも良かったしテンポも早くて良かったですね。でもCDどっか行ってしまって。。EDPSだけは80年代から今日まで変わらずに好きです！
本当ですよね！私の無人島レコード３本の指に入ります。あのバージョンの「にがした はじまり」を生で聴きたかったです！
