Thank you for clarifying this! I've never read the book and never heard this line clearly enough in any of the films to make out the entire sentence that Scrooge said to Marley. i'd wondered about it when Henri said it and now it all makes more sense.
Stay strong Henri, you have dignity where other cats have lasers to chase. Keep your wisdom to yourself, it goes unappreciated among your kind and unrecognized by humans. Life is cruel but understanding this gives you strength. Do not allow the lie that infiltrates the life of the white cat to touch your soul. You are Henri.

Difference between the mentality of a dog and that of a cat: when the master/mistress is leaving the house a dog will panic and immediately think "Nooooo... they are leaving me forever! Forever! They're not going to come back! I will never see them again!" The cat, however, calmly thinks: "Great, Duuuude! Got the place to myself! Take you time. Don't let the door hit you on the hiney as you go."

Just when I thought I couldn't love Henri any more than I already do--you show pictures of him as a kitten! He's so adorable.
I'm from Cleveland, Ohio ,where " Christmas Story" was filmed- I LOVE that Henri has a leg lamp "major award" and I am glad that the film was enjoyed there! These videos are fantastic- the mournful French voice overs and Henri's view of life- great viewing, thank you for posting them.
I first met Henri while playing the video game "The Purring Quest". I play the game in French, but I initially did not know that the cat he was based on spoke with that accent, I was imagining him with a haughty voice. I love these videos, they make me laugh! Keep up the great work, very creative stuff.

Yes, I loved the baby pictures! (among other things).
This is divine, the viewer coming in Henri's hallowed personal dream space, alongside the other cats he feels slightly disdainful of, and his regrets at being this way, maybe as its Xmas in the video. Its so outstandingly original, and as a surreal cat artist myself, and a long haired cat lover, Henri is not only beautiful and soulful looking, like a cat Kate Bush (Cat Bush!), but he's a master of profundity and wit. If only humans were an ounce of this cat.
Oh man, I love Henri's French! Growing up in Canada with a pretty good amount of French from high school (meaning a lot of French spoken very slowly with North American accents) I think I can understand him better than most French Canadians!

This was so clever on so many levels. The kittie ghosts of Christmas past present and future and Henri as the unrepentant Scrooge. "Je regrette rien." And as for the "Leg Lamp" from a Cristmas Story ha ha ha. Henri tu est superb! Joyeux Noel et Bonne Annee (et au ton famille aussi).

I've looked and listened to the whole series, well at least those posted here, and although your accent is terrible and some translations are incorrect (pumpkin is a citrouille in french, for example), I've enjoyed watching the whole thing. Thanks for creating it, Will.

Barbara, I did not understand your comment; however, after clicking on your photograph, it made sense. You do so much work with abandoned cats including socializing feral cats. I bet Henri would be proud of you. He was originally a shelter cat.
I loved how you narration of this video. I do not speak French, but I worked for a French business in the 70's & 80's and picked up a lot of words. I have a black cat, who acts very similar to yours. I'd love to see more of your videos and of course, I just had to paste it to FB & email my Cat friends too!

for the French it means something! :) the black cat " le chat noir" is a symbol of Paris, it was a club in the 1920's (long gone since then) but its logo can still be found all around paris, it's really famous and it looks kindda like the logo of Henri le chat noir. Culture...

I love Henri, he looks just like my cat Ulysses. Ulysses is a quiet cat and tolerates humans and other cats well, but has an attitude to him. These videos are just fantastic! Great work!

I must disagree with the comment below regarding Charles Dickens. He was a literary artist of the highest caliber; our dear Henri, a French speaking feline philosopher, is right there with Dickens. That is the brilliance of Henri's artistry! Though he may be a cat, he makes us laugh and makes us cry.
